That win evened the series up with one win for each team. Today the teams get back on the field looking to take the series victory in the finale. First pitch is scheduled for 3:40pm ET.

Brady Singer
Singer had a tough May as he dealt with multiple little injuries that weren’t arm related and he pitched through them. But since the start of June he’s made eight starts and has been outstanding, posting a 2.76 ERA with 46 walks in 45.2 innings. In his last two starts he’s thrown 14.1 combined innings with just three earned runs against Philadelphia and Colorado.
The splits against Singer are quite big. Righties don’t hit for much of an average, but they walk at an ok rate and when they do find hits they show solid power. Left-handed hitters hit for a high average and they hit for a lot of power against.

Emerson Hancock
The season was going very well for Hancock until back-to-back starts on June 14th and 20th where he allowed 11 runs in just 9.1 innings and his ERA jumped up nearly a full run. But in the three outings since then he’s allowed on run while covering 14.1 innings. His last start lasted just 1.2 innings after he tried to grab a comebacker with his bare hand. He initially remained in the game but he left the next inning.
The splits against Hancock aren’t really there. Both lefties and righties hit for low averages, don’t walk much, and don’t hit for much power. Left-handed hitters make less contact and are slightly worse across the board in the hitting stats but the differences are small.

News and Notes
Chase Burns
Last night saw Chase Burns collect his 12th win of the season. There are a ton of reasons that wins for pitchers aren’t too telling but Burns is now 12-1 and he’s been credited with 11 wins since he was credited with his last loss. That’s tied for 5th all-time among Reds pitchers, trailing Ewell Blackwell at 16 back in 1947, and three pitchers at 13. Burns 12 wins are also tied for the most in the league this season.
