The Cincinnati Reds offense has been terrible through the first two games of the series as San Francisco has taken both games. This afternoon the Reds will be trying to score some runs and avoid being swept. Today’s first pitch is scheduled for 3:45pm ET.

Nick Lodolo
Since returning from the injured list things have not gone smoothly for Lodolo. He’s thrown 12.1 innings and allowed 18 hits and 10 runs. His start against Miami went well as he threw 5.0 shutout innings, but the last time out he gave up six runs in 3.1 innings on 10 hits and two walks.
The splits against Lodolo aren’t too different. Both groups of hitters are finding plenty of success against him. Lefties, though, are hitting for a very high average and walking at a good rate in their limited chances to face him. Righties are hitting for a strong average, too, and when they do get hits they are showing plenty of power – unlike their lefty counterparts.

Logan Webb
San Francisco pulled the ole switcharoo and went from Landen Roupp as their starter for this game to Webb as the starter for this game. His August had been going very well until his last start. He allowed just two runs in 20.0 innings over the first three games of the month, but the Red Sox scored five runs in just 2.2 innings against him as he allowed six hits, three walks, and hit two batters the last time he was on the mound.
The splits against Webb aren’t that big. Righties hit a little worse across the board. Neither group gets on base at all and neither group shows any power against him. His home splits are very favorable where he’s holding hitters to a .572 OPS (.689 on the road) and his ERA is 3.42 (4.16 on the road).

Brady Singer
Prior to today’s game manager Terry Francona noted that Singer had sore ribs after yesterday and the team is going to monitor the situation.

Can we please accomplish just one Kick This Pig before leaving the Bay Area? Pretty please? Boyz? Nick? Jobu?
Hector leading off. Well, all the other options have been exhausted so why not. I like it.
Agree. The more PAs for Rodriguez, the better, given the team’s situation.
Might he mature into a Griffey Sr.?
Agree! Let’s see how he handles it. We need to see what he can do.
Things don’t look better today as Webb will pitch for the Giants being a Reds killer in his career. On the other hand, Lodolo has been pretty inconsistent and we never know which version of him we will see… Tito trying to spark something is taking H-Rod up to the leadoff spot and moving down one spot the rest of the usual hitters…The lienup looks weak anyway…
With Lodolo starting for the Reds, predicted final score is
Giants 6, Reds 1
Place your bets before post time!
(This is not an encouragement to wager on baseball. This is sarcasm based on past performance. Future performance may vary)
Always like a distraction from work! Maybe, just maybe, the Reds offense will show up and show up early!
As for last night’s game, Singer pitched fairly well but it’s hard to win if you can’t score runs! And, honestly, only 4 hits by the Reds is embarrassing!
Any hope that this 2026 Reds team is going to make the playoffs has pretty much disappeared on this western road trip with a 1-4 record with one game remaining!
Let’s grab a win before starting a series in the Windy City against the Cubbie Bears!
I see 0 for 4 Suarez is still in the line up, what a waste. If you’re going to carry 3 catchers DH Stephenson. He isn’t much but he is better than Suarez, who should not start again this year.
I need you to explain, in detail, how you are filling out the lineup on days when Tyler Stephenson is going to catch, and why Eugenio Suarez shouldn’t be in it based on the offensive output of the players – since that is what you are complaining about.
Whether Stephenson plays or not, I would just as soon have Geno play 3rd base, because Ke’Bryan Hayes cannot hit ML pitching.
Geno might run into one and hit a dinger.
If Geno starts at 3rd, why not have Tyler Stephenson DH? Stephenson will be gone after this season, leaving for Free Agency money. I know I would do that if I was him. Get out of this leper colony of a baseball team.
Well you could call up Arroyo and let him play because at least he could be part of the future. Bottom line why are you continuing to play a guy that won’t be here next year when you are out of the race for any post season play. With the line up as the team is constructed now you could play Hayes at 3rd, 2 walks last night, and let anybody who might be back next year serve as DH. The bottom line is Suarez has had a very poor year and with 29 games to go you look to the future. There are a lot of teams that would just DFA him at this point. Sorry but this is a business and the Reds have failed badly. As for the rest of the players that will become free agents I would cut back on their time as well.
Bottom line: You can’t treat players that way if you ever expect anyone to ever sign with you again. No other team would DFA him. It is a business and the Reds have failed badly, but they’d be failing even more so by DFA’ing Suarez because it would be a sign to any free agent with another option on the table that this organization treats you like crap and to not sign there.
As for calling up Arroyo – the guy who was clearly overmatched in every possible aspect of the game – that’s your “don’t play Suarez ever again” answer?
Good thing that they started Suarez today.
Leadoff hitter on again via an error this time. Will he come around?
Hector provides a spark. If he can get on base ahead of Elly and Sal that would be something
Well at least we can beat out throws to first base
Elly steals easily!
EDLC forces Hector and then De La Cruzes into 2nd with his 23 stolen base.
Suarez up with 2 men aboard. He hasn’t left the yard in 54 plate appearances. It’s time.
SF manager must have a hot date. He has just been ejected in the first inning.
Giants manager lost his mind
What was his issue?
Why didn’t challenge that pitch? it was pretty away…
Definitely off the plate
That was a called third strike? Wow. It was so far outside that I just assumed that he swung. These sorts of things make fans feel like some of the players have quit.
Eugenio whiffs at ball four, a pitch that was wayyyy outside. It’s good to have things in life that you can count on.
He did not whiff! He took it and did not challenge! Nuts!!
That last pitch was off the plate!
Yeah, not even close, yet he just walks away shaking his head!! Challenge the call!!!
It was a ball for sure, looked like he didn’t care.
So you have a chance to load the bases and you don’t challenge a pitch that was clearly a ball? Just like last night when he took a pitch right down the middle of the plate. Didn’t have a clue.
Not a clue, but good vibes.
Referencing Jeff Carr of Locked On Reds the Reds lead the majors by a pretty good margin of taking called third strikes.
And having things you can count on, it’s nice to know that this edition of the Reds is wretched at RISP.
Well my point about Suarez didn’t take long to prove. Doug I don’t get why you say that about nobody else signing if you don’t play a guy that isn’t hitting and won’t be back next year. You might be right in that I wouldn’t DFA him but I would start him every game as the Reds have done lately. Play for the future. I don’t think you watch Chatterbox after the games, they tend to agree with me.
Well if one at-bat proves your point it solidifies that I should probably just cease trying to have reasonable and rational conversations with you about just about anything.
The tattooing of Nick Lodolo has begun.
Anyone with the first name of Osleivis ought to get hit with a baseball. Or his parents should.
Just look at the Giants averages and you can see how embarrassing this series has been.
The Giants lineup is even more ridiculous than the Reds. Cleanup hitter batting .132?
Still trying to figure out how the Reds record is better than the Giants LOL!
Ball three was an strike but didn’t challenge either…ended up in a walk and bases loaded
Trevino fails to challenge strike 3 to end the inning.
He does not do a good job on challenges. Not the first time he should have challenged but didn’t
Reds run out of challenges already. hahahahah
Lodolo rallies from the edge. 29 pitches augurs a short outing though.
Nick his usual pitch efficient self but at least he knuckled under to escape the jam.
57 pitches through 2 innings. Solid!
thanks to a catcher that apparently does not know the strike zone…Lodolo has to throw an extra 8 pitches
Lodolo could have challenged that pitch call himself, right?
he can, but pitchers rarely do it…..i have only seen one do it all season long
Remember those salad days of not long past when Reds fans could dream of a Greene/Lodolo one two?
No comment on Greens busted elbow.Although your thought about both pitchers could happen next year
maybe to challenge is prohibited in the first inning for the Reds… Lodolo on 29 pitches
A scoreless first inning took right at 30 minutes,
Nice 9-pitch walk by Myers
Another leadoff runner on. Will the magic happen this time?
everytime the reds play the giants, i have to painfully be reminded of the playoff series where the reds won the 1st two games of the series, on the road, and came home, needing to win 1 game of the next 3…and lost all 3…..and, on top of that, the reds had not been swept at home all season that year!
Sac bunting in the 2nd with the bottom of the order up reeks of desperation.
A sac bunt in the second inning. Does Francona think that one run is gonna win this?
I think he was correct
Yessss. Trevino delivers!!
then Hayes does what Hayes does
the strategy of Mclain bunting to scrifice himself worked after Trevino came through but Hayes at-bat was horrible batting for doubleplay on the first pitch…
Would anyone be surprised that the player with the second-highest average exit velocity on the Reds is KBH?
Not surprised at all. Seems like he flies out to the warning track a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of his ground outs are hard hit right into the ground too. Metrics can be very deceptive.
Hayes is such a great baseballplayer
if he is the starting 3rd baseman next season….then, that means the reds have thrown in the towel before the season even starts. The only thing he is good for is to come in late innings for defense…his bat off the bench is a waste of a bench spot
I don’t know how to use the sarcasm font LOL
Reds have a lead! I don’t know how to act! Be positive? Suppress the normal angst or feeling of dread?
don’t have to worry how to act now….lead gone
Well Dennis it didn’t last long. 56 pitches in 2 innings.
That lead didn’t last long.
Well, that 1-0 lead didn’t last long! Didn’t realize the Reds were playing a reincarnated version of the ’27 Yankees!
What a great try by Bleday.
It’s unbelievable how the Reds pitchers have struggled in this series against a literally triple-A Giants team… horrendous…embarrassing
I was going to say the Reds pitching has kept them in the game this series.
I mean the starters even Singer settled later
I haven’t been able to watch, just going off box score. Still I agree a embarrassing series for reds
What happened to Lodolo? His stuff just seems so ordinary know….like a lefty Singer without the same level of competiveness. He gets behind and can’t work the slider because its usually not a strike. He had alot of good moments last year where his stuff looked dominant, but 93 and behind in the count ain’t it
Because he can’t throw the pitch he really wants to due to blisters! Has not figured out a way to pitch yet without that slider…
Exactly correct and the hitters know it.
Lodolo at 57 pitches thru just 2 innings! Yikes! 4-inning outing at best!
I remember when I thought he was the 2nd coming of Randy Johnson….what the heck was I smokin
Whatever it was it was probably illegal!
KBH…has he turned 2 more then he’s into 2? I doubt it. We picked up the oft-injured worst hitter in baseball for his smooth glove with a staff full of flyball pitchers. Brilliant
That gets to field 1 or 2 grounders per game
Definition of “mid” on the mound for the Reds … 4 inning master …
Whoah, sneaky strong!
The blisters are hurting Lodolo indirectly since he had to change his grip. He’s been awful after coming back from IL… Last start threw 58 pitches through 2 IP , now 57…
Just run Hrod out there the next 28 games and see what happens.
Exactly and anybody else they want to bring up.Its time to find out.If they are over matched then who cares?I mean look at the lineup.Tell me who isn’t over matched when you hit under 200? Reds are in a free fall to 90 losses regardless it appears.
H-Rod ties it up! kid is improving step by step
Poor base running by Elly.
totally no excuse…little league mistake
In Cincinnati area, it’s more likely to be Knothole than Little League.
Tie ball game and what a good ab by Elly. Going the other way. Dude has become such a better hitter this season.
Sleepwalked out of another run. We lost a little league championship game like that when I coached 10-11 year olds. Tying run on 3rd and 1 out in the last inngs and our kid hits a liner to CF. My friend was the co-coach and coaching 3rd and didn’t impress upon the kid the tag up possibility. He went halfway and we lost
hard to believe a major league ballplayer does not know how to react on a ball hit when you are on 3rd base
This ump is missing a good game
Hit in no mans land there
Back to Elly, with the way the Reds are hitting you can’t fall asleep and basically cost your team a run.
Brewers manager may have pulled him out of the game
Now thats funny Indy.Think maybe it has something to do with the Reds/Giants on Aug 26 with 28 games to go.
3 IP, 75 pitches. Ugh. Will be lucky to get 5 from Lodolo….again.
This game is right here….Webb is only throwing 92? He threw a really nice pitch to K Stewart, but overall his stuff looks as down as Lodolo’s does
Reds have 5 starters with an OBP under 300 and the Giants have 7.Is there any wonder they have trouble scoring runs.Geno.MMC,Hayes,Trevino have played a lot and have played a lot in their careers.Big problem to overcome with 3 of those players back next year.
Dont you all think the ball hit by bleday was hit in medium left field. On a line drive? Elly even if he tagged up could of been out at home. Then I am sure some would of complained about that?
It looks easy at home
+100, EDLC was between the devil and the deep blue sea. If he had held the base on contact, he might have been out trying to score either way, if it had fallen in or on the “tag up” and go.
I have seen Elly score on flyballs to that area before…..with his speed, it takes a perfect throw. The giants broadcast team also said it was a baserunning error
Of course they would Gpod.
He’s 70% there easy. No relay is going to get him so the throw better be good. Brain lapse there 1000%
and I will also take the word of 2 former MLB players (the giants broadcast team today)
It was a base running blunder.
I will usually give the player the benefit of the doubt.
Not on this one.
Wow Hayes is unlucky too… that was a rocket for him (99.6 mph)
Wonder what the arbitration comp will be for Lodolo this winter? Right now it looks like 2024 Dane Dunning.
Reds are already 1-8 with RISP thru 4 innings! And we wonder why this Reds team struggles to win games?
We’ll see if Tito will send Lodolo to the 5th on 88 pitches facing the lineup for 3rd time…
9-Pitch inning for Lodolo! Wow! 5 innings are now a possibility for Mr. Blister!
Lodolo – the Blister Blaster.
You got me!
Lodolo should try to get a Blistex endorsement.
Reds can’t hit regardless they just can’t.My only complaint is when they don’t put the ball in play such as Geno did twice.I don’t know what the numbers say but I doubt if any of the Reds unless its Sal and Elly hit with RISP and that’s because they can hit.
That’s pretty much true of every player, though. Guys who hit with RISP are also the guys who just hit. There are very few players who hit with RISP who don’t hit otherwise.
Reds hitters gave the chance to Webb to throw another inning after went retired in order on just few pitches
Just tuned in to see Lodolo walk a batter and then throw a wild pitch. Then Devers hits it into the cove. REDS BASEBALL -CATCH IT!!!
Who didn’t see that coming? Starter left in too long again.
Hindsight always 20/20
Lodolo was at 90 pitches and fading
Yes,
However I am sure Francona has a plan in regards to bullpen use and who is available and who isn’t.
Equally sure Lodolo let Terry know he was good for one more inning. It didn’t workout.
Lodolo has been rough this season 3rd time thru order.
Lodolo has had it rough third time thru the order this season.
Now he goes out to get him…
I don’t know but Lodolo needs a reset or something like that…This season has been disappointing…
watching the reds is like watching a train wreck, less the train
At this point in the 2026 season, I pretty much tune in to watch when and how the Reds let a game get away from them! Starter implodes? Missed fly balls? Throwing errors? TOOTBLANS? Or my favorite, bullpen comes in and throws gas on the fire!
Same with AA his last start but Nick got to rest for 9 pitches if he rested at all. This game as has been the other two all about Devers. and the fact the Reds can’t hit.Too late to try somebody else.Just saying.Game set and match.Looks like 10 under and fading fast.Maybe not but probably so.
Is a sweep upcoming?
I am not sure but I don’t think they have been 10 under all. They will get to 20 under very fast. Who would have thought back in April they would lose over 90.
Hit it into the big glove beyond the fence Geno!
Lineup you see today very well might be the opening day lineup in 2027 but with Steer as DH. Let’s hope for a lockout.
If so you’re looking at 100 losses. This is currently the worst team in baseball. They have 28 games left and I am thinking 8 and 20 and that might be kind. The only positive I can think of is that this total collapse might convince Francona to retire. On another subject this has to be one of the worst series in the clubs long history. Should be a fun flight to Chicago.
That is inaccurate Mark. If you look at the standings the Rockies and Angels are worse. Not to mention other teams. Team stats I am sure they are near the bottom yes, however the records suggest they aren’t the worst
Giants have not swept a series the entire season, reds have 9 outs to stave off being their 1st…and this was the easy part of the remaining schedule
MMC and Myers fan and never make contact. It just is what it is and I expect to see them and others back next year and a bunch of hope.Throw in Hayes at third and Trevino behind the plate.Count me in and why not?
A fine play be both Bleday and Elly to cut the runner down at home
That’s pretty much game, set match!
If this series doesn’t get somebody fired then I got nothing. I mean the Giants are terrible and the Reds look like a team that has no clue.
We know it won’t though JB. Remember same organization that kept Bell after the 3-22 start
and a 100 loss season
They won’t lose 100 games
Cowboy said the giants are basically a AAA team….reds gotta be proud
Well it could have been three runs looking on the bight side. …at least we have Morgan Bench and Perez leading off the next inning…wait a minute… ok … I’m more woke up now…
6 to 2 = ballgame over. What a total shellacking this series has been. Good luck in Chicago boys. Somebody tell me when the next win will be. I would not expect 5,000 people to show up Monday for the San Diego game.
Reds equipment manager might as well start packing up for the trip to Chicago! Should be fun! Can’t beat a poor SF team that hasn’t swept a series all season but we’ll win the series against the Cubs! Right?
yep lol
A terrible series against a Triple-A team… I wouldn’t be annoyed if this were happening against Dodgers or maybe Brewers but against this Triple-A there are no words
Webb and Devers AAA??
Well said…
Or if the reds had sold off and where playing some young guys whom might be the future nope . Hope this team loses 100
I’ve seen enough. Rodriguez can hit. One less piece of the puzzle.
Hector might be a keeper
I think Rodriguez could be that lead off guy!! Only one game yes, however he seems so much more comfortable
If he does some focused work this offseason, I think that’s possible. Don’t want to count out Blake Dunn either.
Of course, 2027 is still a dream at this point.
Back-to-back rockets off the bats of Hayes and Hector. And EDLC
Is Sal gonna tie this game up?
Because pal, Sal and tie this game up!
Sal is due this game.
Good day for H-Rod…a good news today at least
Well that’s a run and 100 rbis
Call Sal the Mailman. He delivers! RBI # 100.
Prediction: JJ goes deep.
That was ball four.
Now it’s Time to come thru Geno!
If anyone is due, it’s Suarez.
geno comes thru……not!
Oh the pain….
and that is the Reds season in a nutshell.
I have been watching (checked out early today). Wondering why TySteve didn’t get a shot in Geno’s spot … just guessing that he might have had a better chance at finding green space.
I know Sadak doesn’t think that way 😉
I am only guessing.
Francona wants to save Stephenson for later in game?
Or
With him catching alot, trying to give him days off? I dunno Mark. Just me thinking or trying to make sense of Reds lol
Geno had a little run. Looks like it’s over. 10 homers in 28 games.
Tale of the tape! Thru 7 innings the Reds have 8 LOBs and are 2-10 with RISP! Now that’s efficiency!
And one of those 2 hits didn’t even bring in a run.
You still going to a reds game in September?? LOL
Time to move on and see when the Reds shut down Chase if they do and see if they bring up some more guys from the minors if they do.This will tell you where the Reds are at in their plan for this year and beyond assuming they have one.
H-Rod has really come on strong in the past week after struggling at first.
Small sample size, but let’s see if he can keep it going and if he can adjust once the pitchers adjust to him.
I just consulted my Magic 8 Ball and asked if the Reds were going to win this game.
I responded that it is decidedly so.
Possible sweep in progress to one of the
absolute worst teams in baseball – Tells you all you need to know about the state of this Reds front office and ownership . Shouldn’t be this way for this franchise … it’s just not acceptable in any size , shape or form .
McLain just hits the ball in the air way way too much….easy outs
Never trust a Magic 8 Ball. The good news is that Reds are back on track for double-digit strike outs.
We missed ya Tony. You haven’t changed a bit.
Intentionally walk Devers. Its 9-3 Tito. It’s not going to matter.
Playing it like it was Game 7 of the World Series.
Red’s note to other teams…”we’ll cure what ails ya.”
Yep! Team batting average need help? The Reds can accommodate! Your team ERA a little high? Reds can fix that!
Not only is Cincinnati going to be swept by the Bad News Giants, they are being outscored 17-4. If this isn’t the low point of the season, I don’t want to know what is.
Wait ’til you see some of the results from the upcoming games in September.
Reds might go on a 10 game losing streak at some point next month. Or maybe they already started it.
Gotta be changes made in a LOT OF AREAS …. HAVE TO !!!! no way they go into next
season (whenever it is ) with this
organization wide disaster of a situation.
Hector!!! Now there’s a bright spot.
Hector brings a smile at least with another blast! Now we might have a big 3.
Great first 6 games of this current 9-game road trip! Only one win, shut out twice and swept by a SF team that hadn’t swept a 3-game series all season! Outstanding! I’m sure the Cubs are shaking in their boots awaiting the Reds to arrive on Friday!
Can you ONCE post a positive or at least neutral comment? Your incessant negativity is of no value at all.
Now wait a minute, others post negative comments all the time. You say nothing.
If your gonna complain about Dennis, at least be Consistent.
He brings more than others dude.
Just stating the obvious! Can’t dream or make this up how bad this team is performing! I love the Reds but they don’t make it easy!
You want something positive? It looks like Hector Rodriguez is a keeper!
Despite how this season has gone I will be making a 900+ mile trip from my home in Florida in September to take in at least one home game at GABP! Plus, I drove over to Tampa to see the Reds play the Reds at Tropicana Field. Just my luck, it was the only Reds loss in that series against former Reds SP Nick Martinez!
I comment on others, but none are as incessant as he is.
Rodriguez’s exit velocity was 115.2. That little man can generate some power.
Hector hit that ball half the way to Hawaii. Wow.
Let the kid play the rest of the year and bat him leadoff …. See what they got …. Just play him man !
Elly with 3 hits today.
Could that Magic 8 Ball possibly be right?
Geno can make it a one-run game here.
Good call!
OMG! Salami Time! 9-8.
Geno!!! You dog you!!!! Grand slam!!! Down one run no outs! They just won’t quit these Reds!!!
Tying run on base.
And it scoring position.
well….this is nuts!
Lol this is two very bad teams .
Myers surprise bunt ends up on second!! Oh man my heart!!!
Go Reds go!!!
Runners on the corners.
Limp back to Chicago it is
Sorry … I checked out and we started to watch something else … 😮
Just saw Trevino’s SF and Tyler’s RBI Single.
WOW!!!
One stinking fly ball one stinking fly ball and we tie!
I’ll even take a wild pitch.
Mac can bunt. He puts some English on that ball
Nice bunt.
Send Mclain!
Craziness ensues!
Must score this run.
Ha! They did!!!takes away double play
How about asking for another one of those fly balls?
One more fly ball. Stephenson pinch hitting!!!
This reds team is frustrating to watch at times. What a comeback.
And the Reds come all of the way back.
Reds, the Giant killers!
Never ever ever doubt the Magic 8 Ball.
Game of the year!
And then some
Dis be one crazeee game, I tell you!
The Reds just moved ahead 10-9 with a single by Ty Steve … that’s 7, count ’em 7 runs in the 9th !
Got home to start watching this game at the beginning of the top of the 9th. Wild game.
Get the insurance run now
Wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen with my own eyes.
This is crazier than the St. Louis game.
I’m always fond of the pre-game rah-rah saying “Everybody hits! Everybody scores!”
But all in a single inning … the NINTH!!!
Crazy. Geno had a .824 ops in August coming in despite all the RLN haters lol. He could’ve helped a playoff team, but I guess nobody called? I say why not if they play next year
Wow I was out and coming back to see the scoreboard is tied and TySteve delivers the go ahead run 10-9 in a 7-run 9th inning rally…this is really insane…
Rodriguez is surprisingly fast?
A new baseball rule? Slide rule?
I lived and died by the slide rule in my engineering and science classes in early 1970s.
Reminds me of the old joke about the constipated mathematician … :p

Not a new rule. Been around for a while. Intent is to avoid unnecessary and more vigorous contact, especially at 2nd on a DP attempt.
Heck of a rally …
Emilio never thought that he was getting into this game.
Not going to say it’s over because it’s been that kind of game. Wild inning.
Somebody please do a wellness check on Dennis.
Oldtimer will. He seems to be pretty fond of him.
My nickname for Oldtimer is Old Grouch! Yes, I’m Mr. Negative
Nope. I just can’t stand your incessant negative posts.
Oldtimer’s obsession for Dennis is borderline stalkerish. Dennis lives rent free in his head and isn’t even trying. Pretty sad.
@JediJoey.
I agree 100%
He seems like a old bully if you ask me.
@Kevin. That he is. He is just like his hero Richard.
Hard to type! Both hands on the paper bag I’m breathing into!
Lmao
Saw a stat yesterday.
Reds are tied with the most wins when entering the 9th inning trailing.
Let’s hope they can break that tie right now.
Kind of kills the narrative of them being quitters though.
1000%
That Giants manager missed a heckuva game.
One down, two to go.
This umpire has NOT been great with his zone. Not at all.
Two down, one to go.
Pagan K’s Cavanaugh for the 2nd out in the 9th ! Huge !
… and wraps it up with a K of Koss ! Unbelievable comeback win for our guys !
ATOBTTR
Who would have thought
Somehow Santillan will get the win unless the official scorer decides he stinks.
Opps lol
Well, Tony really did stink, but I guess he gets the win.
Hopefully, Tony is going to get a little stronger and throw a little harder and pitch better. He is still overcoming his hurtin’ times.
What a win!!!
Completely NUTS!!!!
Beyond improbable.
I’ve seen the Reds put a couple of three run comebacks this year, but nothing like this one ! Who knew they had it in them ?
Reds earned that win. Excellent job.
“Decidedly so.”
Simply unbelievable.
Personally lets thank MV, as when he says game is over. Reds seem to win!!!
This game though wow
This is the Reds come back of the season… To avoid the embarrassing sweep and securing not to lose 100 games this year…lol
The game I saw in GABP last Thursday afternoon was similar. STL went ahead 10-5 in 9th inning. Reds rallied (improbably) to make it 10-9 but them McLain hit FO to the warning track in RF. Almost but not quite.
Yes I followed it … really frustrating because it was a tough loss after Myers dropped the last out for the win
I bet the Giants version of this board is bemoaning this development.
The Giants are pretty lousy. And now you know the rest of the story……
But still, let’s DFA Geno Suarez. 🙂
That was a comment early this afternoon from Mark.
I know he’s frustrated with the season, as we all are. But I would not DFA Geno. I actually think he is a really good guy, always positive, and is probably a big plus in the clubhouse and the dugout. I think he has a couple more good seasons in him…he was hurt for part of this season. I would actually re-sign him for 2027 if the Reds could get him for the same price they signed him for 2026.
There already is a Mutual option
Insane
OK! I take back everything negative I said about the Reds during this game! They are the 3rd best team in MLB history behind the ’27 Yanks and the Big Red Machine! That’s sarcasm BTW Oldtimer!
Dude I personally enjoy your post. Sure we all get negative, however you are more funny.
I get it. Except that sarcasm is funny.
Not the way I tell it! Humor me! I already work with a bunch of boring engineers and technicians who are ALL humor challenged! Trust me, I’m funny! Just ask my pets!
Absolutely nothing you say is funny.
Dennis, how does it feel to have a fan club on RLN lead by Oldtimer? Does he respond to everything you say? LOL
“Thank you so much, Jim Day”
He’s still a big kid playing a kid’s game. He’s not the masher he was, but he provided the blast at the right time to follow up the bay-shot from HRod.
They say that if you watch baseball long enough, you’ll see something you’ve never seen before! I don’t recall a Reds win when they trailed by 6 runs in the 9th or extra innings!
Bottom line, unbelievable comeback and a much-needed win ahead of the Cubs series!
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN195805080.shtml I do. 1958.
Wasn’t someone questioning Suarez as DH?
everyone did their job in the top of the 9th inning….especially the bunt by Myers…except for that dropped fly ball the other day, he has had a solid season
McLain’s bunt was perfect
The Reds have found ways to lose this year. It has been a tough year for them. I hope that next season (and no strike or lockout) is better, and they are competitive and can get into a Wild Card slot. There are some promising signs out there.
1) Hector had a great day I like this lineup today. Let Hector lead off.
2) Chase will be back next year
3) Sal will be back next year….got his 100th rbi today.
4) There are a couple of guys in AAA that will get a LONG look in Spring Training.
5) of course, likely, Tyler Stephenson will be gone. Duno is probably at least a half season away from being with the Reds.
A big, comeback win like today fills us all with unreasonable optimism, but it was a crazy good win today….against an actually pretty lousy Giants team. They just melted down.
It was fun, but optimism has to be muted in reality. Lodolo looked terrible. Idk what we doing for starting pitching if there is a next season?
No HG. Burns, AA, and I’d move Ashcraft into the starting role immediately. I’d begin with 5-9 outs as soon as he gets back although a bunch of starts vs LA, Cubs, etc is kind of cruel
Here’s another POSITIVE! Reds did not have double digit SOs! How big was Geno’s grand slam? ESPN shows that Big Tony was credited with the win!
I can’t remember a bigger comeback in the 9th then that? I remember Danny Graves blowing one in Milw one time….we were up 8 or 9, but it wasn’t all the 9th inning.
Geno 5 doubles 5 HRs 18 rbis in August with a .360 obp coming in
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN195805080.shtml 1958.
wow…thats a crazy one too
Seen Hal Jeffcoat name with a save in the game. Remember a game he was pitching a left handed batter came up manager moved Jeffcoat to the outfield brought in a left handed when he got the out brought Jeffcoat back in to pitch.
Santillan getting the win shows how that stat is nearly worthless…unless of course you are Oldtimer and the pitcher’s name is Luke Weaver.
Weaver has had three excellent years in NYC in 2024-25-26. He has struggled with PIT after the trade from NYM.
The Reds won 12 of his 21 starts in 2023.
Weaver was nothing but terrible with the Reds. He figured it out after he left Cincy.
Its not such a pitchers park during the day in SF. Anyone remember the day finale with the Votto Reds when we won 11-10 or something
I thought they lost that game?
I think they won that day. It was probably 12-13 years ago maybe?
August 25, 2010. Reds won 12-11 in 12 innings
WOW…what a comeback!!! Sal getting to 100 RBI and Hector with 2 HR’s are icing on the cake. FWIW Sal is now the odds on favorite as he should be for NL ROY.
