Toledo 7 – Louisville 6

Kevin Barker gave the Bats an early 4-0 lead after the 1st inning when he hit a grand slam.  The homerun was Barker’s 7th of the season.

Homer Bailey started and struggled again.  He received a no decision and was unable to hold onto the early 4-0 lead.  Bailey allowed 5 runs on 6 hits and 5 walks while striking out 6 in 5 innings pitched.  His ERA has now ballooned to 4.30 on the season. He threw 103 pitches yesterday, just 60 of which crossed the plate for strikes.

West Tennessee 4 – Chattanooga 1

Cody Strait went 2-3 with a double and a run scored on a night in which the Lookouts mustered just 3 hits as a team.

Sam Lecure fell to 3-3 with the loss.  Lecure allowed 4 runs on 9 hits and a walk while striking out 7 in 5.1 innings pitched.  He now has a 4.99 ERA in 48.2 innings pitched.

Sarasota 9 – St. Lucie 1

Jose Castro, Carson Kainer, and Jacob Long each had 2 hits in the game for the Reds.  The 3 guys combined for 4 runs scored, a double, triple, and 2 rbis.

Alexander Smit threw 6 scoreless innings to improve to 4-3 on the season.  Smit scattered 3 hits and walked 2 while striking out 5.

Lansing 9 – Dayton 4

Devin Mesoraco went 3-4 for the Dragons with a double, run scored and 2 runs batted in.  Perhaps the Reds #1 pick can start showing signs of coming around.  Keltavious Jones and Zach Cozart had 2 hits each in the game.

One thing of note for the pitchers in this game, Kent Mercker threw 1 perfect inning and struck out a batter.
