San Diego Padres vs Cincinnati Reds – April 26, 2022

The Cincinnati Reds (3-13) finally ended their 11 game losing streak on Sunday with a 4-1, well played win against the Cardinals. The Reds got to take something positive into an off-day yesterday, and they will look to win two games in a row for the first time in 2022 tonight at 6:40 PM against the San Diego Padres (10-7).

Pham and Lodolo strong rebounds not enough to stop Reds 7th straight loss

The Reds got their first lead of the week in the first inning when Tommy Pham finally got his first extra-base hit as a Red. The Friars faithful for some reason decided to boo the .039 hitter, and Pham returned the favor with a 424 foot blast into the left field seats. The Reds offense had plenty of good chances early in the game, but could not find a way to get any more runners across the plate off Padres starting pitcher, Sean Manaea. The Reds lost their 7th straight game to fall to 2-9 overall.

RN Recap: Derek Dietrich saves the Reds again!

The Reds offense was dominated for most of the night in San Diego by Padres' pitching. The Reds at one point had 16 consecutive batters retired and had just three hits entering the 11th inning. It only took one mighty swing off the bat by Derek Dietrich to change the outcome of this game. Dietrich destroyed a 3-1 pitch into the right field seats to give the Reds a 3-1 lead. Zack Duke and Michael Lorenzen finished off another outstanding night of Reds pitching to secure the Reds second consecutive win.
