Offense, defense, umpire let down Luis Castillo in Reds loss

Luis Castillo gave the Reds six very strong innings, but his offense, defense and the home plate umpire let him down on this night. The Cardinals scored both of their runs in the first inning off Castillo, courtesy of a missed call that should have been strike 3 to end the inning, followed by two Reds errors.

Cincinnati Reds vs St. Louis Cardinals – June 10, 2022

The Cincinnati Reds (20-37) will look to rebound from a disappointing homestand against the St. Louis Cardinals (32-26) starting tonight at 8:15 PM. The Reds lost 3 of 4 to the last place Washington Nationals and then had to settle for a split against the Diamondbacks after winning the first two games of the four game series. Meanwhile, the Cardinals were swept by the Rays in Tampa to start this week.

Reds drop first game in Toronto in Votto’s return

Luis Castillo gave the Reds six very strong innings in Toronto, but it was not enough on this night. The Reds offense had a lot of action all night on the basepaths, but outside of a Matt Reynolds RBI single in the 7th inning, just could not find another big hit to drop.
