The Cincinnati Reds are looking to put a stop to their 5-game losing streak and avoid being swept in Milwaukee. The Brewers have already clinched a playoff spot but are looking to get one step closer to clinching the division. This afternoon’s first pitch is scheduled for 2:10pm ET.

Chase Burns
Coming down the stretch in the final month of the season, Cincinnati is limiting Burns workload to get him through the entire season without shutting him down. In his last outing he threw just 44 pitches and was limited to three innings. Back in early July Burns faced the Brewers for the only time this season and allowed two runs in 6.0 innings in a game the Reds won 7-2.
The splits against Burns are big. He’s been completely lights out when facing right-handed hitters. Teams have sent as many lefties out to face him as they can. While they haven’t been too successful, they’ve been solid against him as they’ve walked at a solid rate and when they have found their hits they’ve shown a solid amount of power.

Robert Gasser
It’s been an up-and-down season for Gasser, literally. He didn’t make the Brewers out of spring training and after being called up in mid-May he has been optioned back to Triple-A three different times this season. Despite that, he’s still started 17 games and thrown 91.1 innings in MLB this year. Back on June 29th he faced the Reds and allowed three runs in 5.2 innings in a game that the Brewers won.
The splits this year against Gasser are huge. Teams haven’t sent too many lefties out to face him but the ones that have gotten that chance have not done well in any way. Right-handed hitters, though, have found plenty of success. Righties are hitting for a high average and hitting for plenty of power.

Notes worth noting
Sal Stewart’s September
It’s been a strange month so far for Stewart. He’s hitting .297 through the 10 games he’s played in September. He also has not had a single extra-base hit and has driven in just two runs. He’s had at least 20 RBI in April, June, July, and August (he only had eight in May).

Looks like Tito going with my lineup suggestion from yesterday with Ty Stephenson DH, Treviño catching and Suarez at 3B (w/ Hayes on the bench). He must be assuming he won’t need Treviño on the mound with Burns going at least 2-3 innings. As for Stewart I’ll go out on a limb and call at least one extra base hit today. Way overdue.
This is the best Reds lineup overall. Despite Burns limited to 3 IP (maybe), this should be a guaranteed W today.
Reds are at 198 HR on the season. Ranked 3rd or 4th in MLB. Maybe HR #200 today?
A guaranteed win? Against the Brewers?? Is there such a thing?
Should.
Reds are tied for third in homers, but 21st in slugging percentage and 25th in OBP.
So what.
Reds W today. Best lineup overall. Best SP. Best RP (closer).
Have any of the announcers or analysts said anything about about Sal?
Is he pressing? Wow, batting 297 this month? I would never have guessed. Although I haven’t paid much attention to the team recently.
Oof………After losing 14-1 in Los Angeles, followed by a 20-0 loss in the series opener in Milwaukee, the Reds allowed 13 more runs Saturday (Sept. 12) to the Brewers – the first time in available franchise history they’ve allowed at least 13 runs in three consecutive games………..Make that a DOUBLE Oof!!!!!!
How many pitches Burns will throw today? After him will get Williamson with a 5.80 ERA…
114.7 mph off the bat of Elly. but caught.
Elly smashed that ball at 114.2 mph but it was caught…unbelievable
Burns threw 44 pitches last outing. Hopefully, he gets threw 3.
Chase doing what Chase does. Scoreless inning with 2 Ks.
Great play by Elly. Took his time and made an accurate throw.
I’m grilling T-bone tonight no matter what (with baby bella mushrooms). If you show up, Melvin, I’ll let you watch 😀
haha 🙂
I still say Cooper Pratt is a great baseball name 😉
If he shows up tonight, does he get a T-bone?
I know he would just give me a bone. 🙂
Walk and single. Rally time.
I just tuned in and yes we are not down by a TD. That’s awesome.
Nothing comes of that mini-rally.
Happy Grandparents Day!
Stop nimbling Burn. They won’t swing at those pitches.
Walk and then HR. Like clockwork
For the official record … if ANY of y’all ever show up on my doorstep, I will prepare you a Redleg Nation Feast!!! Just need some notice to plan the proper menu … 😀
Bengals 27 Bucs 10. I figured we needed some good news.
Those Brewers love to take a walk.
Strike ’em out, throw ’em out erases the walk.
That has got to be all for Chase. One bad pitch.
Have I mentioned how much I’m going to miss Tyler?
Depending on the CBA, there might be a chance he resigns.
I agree. Despite the over-abundance of words, I like the discussion about how he might play out going forward for any team. Cowboy made a point about great pitch handlers generally not being able to hit when catching “full time” and great hitting “full time” catchers being the guys nobody wants to throw to.
Let’s just hope there wasn’t too much bad blood shed near the end of July.
Reds have two runners on again. Stephenson double and Bleday walk. Can they push a run or two across?
Next time. Maybe?
I think the Reds just want to get out of Milwaukee.
Nice start by Brandon.1 2 3.
So very many words to say so relatively little … I normally stick with it when it’s a road game but … MAN!!!!
Sweet stop and throw!!
Reds scored 9 runs yesterday but had a bad pitching…the Reds pitching has been better so far today but the offense is not doing the job though…that is repeating in every game against the Brewers except the last two games in Cincinnati last weekend which The Reds won…I thought something could change after those games but no..apparently
Elly starts the inning off with a grounder that was hit wicked hard.
Sal lashes one through the infield. Runners on the corners with nobody out. They have to score.
Eugenio clears the decks with a 3-run shot. Reds lead 3-2.
Well well , Suarez overturned things with a long shot…
They have to resign Suarez.
I think there is some hope of signing Elly to a long-term deal. They did it with Votto. Fingers crossed.
I like your optimism. But given his elite talent and skill position compounded by being a Boras client and how cheap our organization is … I’m thinking his arb years will cause a LOT of angst in the C-Suite. At his pace, he’ll set records for all three years.
Must be Bengals fever this afternoon.
Williamson is dealing so far.
9 up and 9 down for Brandon. I like it.
7th inning and we’re ahead? It feels odd. I like it, but it definitely feels odd.
It seems when Williamson doesn’t walk guys could be a different pitcher
Well, there goes that lead. 3-3 after a bomb.
And now a single. Bullpen help please.
Bernie isn’t rolling over … then again I didn’t expect him to.
Pitcher’s best friend. The double play. Out on the inning. 4 innings, 1 run. That works every time.
Bengals win 33-27.
Williamson pitching ok. Spiers doing well recovering in AAA. Bengals winning. That’s about it.
Elly and Sal doing a nice job
Elly leads off with a single. Sal sends Elly to third with a single. Haven’t I seen this one before?
OK, Tyler. Just lift it a bit.
Just like that 😀
QB1 sac fly puts the Reds up by one.
Brock Burke has been brought on to navigate the 8th inning. Nice job from Brandon Williamson.
It’s almost to be expected. Single and an error on a bunt and they have the first two guys on.
Perhaps KBH should have fielded that one?
Oh my. He got out of it on a line drive double play.
That makes up for it, Brock. You owe Brito a HUGE dinner on that throw.
Few times luck smiles to the Reds
Just a tiny bit of luck in that inning.
Way to go Trevino!!
Everybody hold on to your butts …
An insurance run or six would be great about now 😐
I would have lost a ton of money on Milwaukee scoring that inning.
Jackon Chourio hit a laser beam that Burke turned into two. And then they gunned down Frelick trying to steal.
I believe that is going to turn around the Reds season and they will probably win the rest of their games.
Hustle “double” takes advantage of a mistake. I like it.
Erased on a failed bunt attempt.
Ya nevah know.
Man. Play Brito every day rest of season. Hustling all the way to take advantage of misplay
Brito got a double. When was the last time Hayes got a hit, Oldtimer?
Com’on Francona? Bunting with guy on second no outs that worked out well ..
bad bunt, needs to go down the 3rd base line!
Elly goes deep?
Myers gets on now it’s up to Elly
Hate to say this, but, Elly must be traded during the Off-season. Will never sign a long term deal with the Reds, and he will bring a Mint!
Now it’s up to Pagan
Emilio has to hold them down in the 9th.
Brewers just keep the pressure on and wait for the other team to crack.
Nice K. One down.
Two down. One more, Emilio.
Weird flight and spin on that. Nice job to force the lead runner.
Wow. Reds got a big big break right there
ATOBTTR
Friedl makes the long run catch. Pagan does the job! Reds win!
All luck accepted after getting beat down the first two games.
Great win! Bring on the Hollywood Dodgers!
Pagan has been nails for quite a while now.
WOW!!! Very satisfying win. Still haven’t been swept in Bernie’s house since early 2022.
Complete team effort.
I thought they “quit” lol
