Rhett Lowder

It has been a tough season for Lowder. He lost his spot in the rotation due to poor performance and inconsistency. After pitching out of the bullpen to start July he returned to the rotation when Nick Lodolo hit the injured list. His first start saw him give up 11 hits in 2.1 innings and be charged with eight runs. Last time out he allowed one hit, but two runs, in 5.0 innings against St. Louis in a Reds win. The only time he faced the Pirates this season was on May 2nd and they scored eight runs against him in 1.1 innings pitched.

Both right-handed hitters and left-handed hitters have a .271 average against Lowder this season. That’s where the comparisons end, though. Righties rarely walk while lefties walk a lot. Righties hit for no power against him while lefties show so-so power against him. Not shown below are the home and road splits. Lowder has been much better at home (3.09 ERA vs a 7.71 ERA on the road).

Yohan Ramirez

Tonight will see Ramirez make the first start of his career. He’s pitched 208 games out of the bullpen since his debut back in 2020. This year has has pitched more than one inning 18 times, and he’s pitched at least two innings 12 times. But only one has he recorded more than seven outs and his longest outing was 3.0 innings when he pitched the 11th, 12th, and 13th innings of a game back in April.

The splits against Ramirez are big. Right-handed hitters don’t hit for average, walk at a low rate, and don’t hit for any power. Lefties also fail to hit for much average, but they walk a ton and when they do get hits they show solid power.

News and Notes

A plethora of roster moves for the day

Cincinnati made four roster moves earlier today. Going down to Triple-A are infielder Edwin Arroyo and pitcher Chase Petty. Joining the Reds are Matt McLain (from the 10-day injured list) and reliever Zach McCambley. We wrote with more detail about the moves here when it was announced if you’re interested in more reading.

The Reds are drawing interest in trades for Hunter Greene

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic wrote this morning that the Reds were getting plenty of interest from other teams about the availability of Hunter Greene. We decided to write about that and how much sense it doesn’t make to trade him.

This 4-game set wraps up the season series between Reds and Pirates. Pirates are ahead 6-3 so far… Reds have to sweep if they want be winners against Pirates this year…
With Lowder you never know this year what version is going to watch…Hope it will be his best tonigt…

    • CI3J

Wow, that’s a weird thought. We won’t see the Pirates again this season, and maybe not until 2028 if the 2027 season gets cancelled.

I know we’re getting into August now, but sentences like that really drives home the fact that this season is getting close to being done.

  2. Steve

Ok, i am ready to be attacked……hunter for holiday straight up….elle, holiday, sal

    • CI3J

Are you talking about Jackson Holliday?

I would hope the Reds could do better than that for Greene.

    • DW

Yeah, I’d attack for that one, but I’ll have mercy on you.

    • greenmtred

And somehow find another really good starting pitcher? It may be a position of relative strength for the Reds, but it’s not a position of depth.

  3. Steve

Yes, team control, overalll number one pick who is starting to figure it out, hunters injuries, my best friend is an orioles season ticket holder and he said no…lol

    • JB

His power and average are very inconsistent. He should fit right in. Big no.

  4. Goldenbear

Greene, Stewart, Burns, Abbott, Elly… the only players that are even desired by other teams. Fringe: Lodolo, Bleday, and maybe TeeJay. That is it.

    • Mark Moore

Stephenson by the mere fact that he’s a capable starting catcher and those are in very short supply.

  5. Mark Moore

Buckle up, friends. Going to do my best to stay on the positive tilt. Let’s see which comes first … something to cheer about or the overwhelming desire to Clete

    Let’s Kick This Pig!!!

    • greenmtred

I’ll be joining you guys after dinner, but maybe not for long. My patience has been worn exceedingly thin and cleting is an option at the drop of the hat.

  6. dimondfvr

So Stewart wastes one of the two Reds challenges in the first inning. That really handcuffs Stephenson behind the plate for the next eight innings!

  7. Roger Garrett

I am with you Mark all the way.Out early or in till we win is the story tonight.GO REDS

    • Mark Moore

I’m trying not to emotionally invest in our Boyz anymore. That miraculous start is a faint memory. So we watch baseball and remember the days when we didn’t get over a dozen games on any given day.

  8. Mark Moore

    WHOA!!! A lumbering hustle double … 😮

  9. RedsGettingBetter

Reds need a LHH CFer who can hit well…How could they get him?

    • greenmtred

A deal with the Devil springs to mind: the Castellini’s sell what’s left of their collective souls for a savior in cleats and the Reds go on a miraculous streak that carries them, victorious, through the WS. And the Devil waits to collect.

  10. RedAlert

Leadoff double get nothing …. Wash , rinse , repeat … absolutely pathetic

    Thats 4 whiffs in 2 innings … what a joke … unbelievable

  11. RedsGettingBetter

    What a joke Marte….swinging ball 5 ft away is brutal…come on…

    • RedAlert

He just can’t do it at this level … plain and simple … zero conception of strike zone … zero plate discipline

  12. Steve F

Painful. The Reds look sooo bad hitting.

    • Dennis Westrick

Can’t really call it hitting when the batter fails to hit the ball!

  13. DWCT

Not one single pitch to Marte was anywhere close to being a strike. 4 Ks and 0-3 through 2 innings.

    • Indy Red Man

I give up. He’s not going to make it. Not 1 ball even within a foot of being a strike

  14. JB

I have no idea how Marte ever gets anything but a sweeper. What a lousy at bat.

    • Pharmer85

Terrible. Why would anyone throw him a strike?

    • old-school

Any thoughts JB on what went wrong. I was a marte supporter and agreed he seemed like a perfect RF guy with size speed power. Great 2023, fell off the planet cheating 2024, good 2025, and now 2026 ops under .600 and hitting under .200.

Has to be between the ears. Hes been filmed with Soto and others living the good life on private jets. Some folks put in the work and have the discipline, others don’t. What is undeniable is his remarkable inability to sustain success while being talented. Its a shame.

  15. Mark Moore

It would appear that Marte just can’t help himself even when there’s a near 100% certainty it’s coming.

Talk about trouble with the curve …

    • JB

Yep I’m getting off the bandwagon. I’ve seen enough of him and that at bat was an absolute joke.

    • Dennis Westrick

Great baseball movie! Mandatory watching for baseball or Clint Eastwood fans!

    • oklared

He reminds me of the last couple of years with Stubbs just can’t say no to a slider of the plate and won’t swing at straight pitches on the outer third oh well

  16. Gpod

Why in the world would any pitcher throw Marte a strike…he is a joke at the plate…has 1 walk in last boatload of plate appearances

    • JB

He would have walked if he just stood there.

  17. Indy Red Man

Try Ivan Johnson in LF and Bleday to RF….this is ridiculous.

    • JB

Just put an orange cone out in right. The orange cone has a better chance at the plate. SMH

      • Noyes

I heard Pittsburgh just signed the orange cone to a six-year extension.

      • JB

Noyes- driving through Pennsylvania I think it’s the state flower.

      • Mark Moore

+250,000 split between JB and Noyes!!!

  18. Dennis Westrick

4 SOs thru 2 innings with 2 RISP left on base! Different day, same old Reds offense!

Again, a Reds SP is doing his best but it’s so frustrating watching this team waste run-scoring opportunities, especially early in the game! God bless Lowder!

    • Indy Red Man

They get a leadoff double and the guy never sees 3rd base? Get him over and it atleast opens up alot with infield in

      • JB

He sees it . He just knows he is never going to touch it.

  19. Dennis Westrick

Lowder is battling! Please score some runs for the poor man!

  20. dimondfvr

Among other suggestions, some people are calling for the firing of the batting coach. I am not here to defend the coach, but no matter how much quality information is being passed along to the hitters, they may just not be capable of taking that information and applying it. If the talent isn’t there, if they aren’t teachable, the old saying is “You can’t get blood out of a turnip.” LOL

    • Mark Moore

This is very true. Coach all you want. If the player can’t ingest it and change, then it’s whistling in the wind.

  21. RedsGettingBetter

Lowder threw a lot of pitches against Mangum and Lowe going to full counts…He is pitching around the zone carefully

  22. Roger Garrett

Good at bat and hit by MMC.Positive only tonight.

    • Mark Moore

Nice little oppo flare. And we get the benefit almost instantly!!!

    • JB

I hope Mac turns it around. For the sake of him and the team.

  23. DWCT

The Matty Ballgame begins now. Will he see second base though?

  24. Indy Red Man

MM miles ahead of Arroyo at this point. He’ll walk and he has power. Fielding alone…Arroyo was helpless at 2B

  25. Mark Moore

Two balls called strikes and NOW we don’t challenge?

    Nevermind …

    • JB

This ump is terrible. He called a inside strike on Meyers as well

      • oklared

Meyers really wanted to challenge one but was afraid to lose last challenge

  26. Roger Garrett

Three straight hits by the good guys and well that’s great.

  27. dimondfvr

Another ill-conceived decision by Stewart. What is the urgency to go there?

  28. Indy Red Man

They’re talking Bo Jackson. I saw him hit one completely out of the stadium at the old Arlington Stadium off Kenny Rogers

    • Mark Moore

The musician or chicken magnate? 😉

  29. Mark Moore

Ump sure is working Mr. Lowder extra hard tonight … 😐

Jim Day giving us the Blake Dunn update 🙁

  30. CincyDo

That was a perfect 3-2 pitch to Reds killer Reynold. Good job Lowder.

  31. Noyes

ok, if this Lowder curveball thing is on purpose it’s a game changer. I don’t think working east/west was going to be enough for him. We might have something here.

    • Mark Moore

Looking good so far. Pie-Rats know how to hit (or at least some of them do).

  32. JB

Surprised Marte didn’t swing at that wild pitch.

  33. Roger Garrett

I think I would like to see a lot of Myers the rest of the way.Maybe he is a late bloomer with the bat.

    • Mark Moore

We can hope. A little reckless, but I like what I’m seeing.

      Marte gave it a ride.

      • Pharmer85

Much better AB by Marte. Not as susceptible to the sweeper vs lefties.

  34. Mark Moore

Larkin saying “He missed it and almost hit it out.”

But isn’t ours a “small park”? Ultimately it was a noisy but productive out that moved the line forward.

    • Noyes

Barry is going pass out and find himself in a padded room muttering “conviction… conviction… conviction…”

  35. CincyDo

Offense needs to respond. Good timing to have Elly and Sal up.

  36. Dennis Westrick

Lowder with 5 innings in the book! Not perfect but he may at least start the 6th inning! Time to score some runs!

    • Mark Moore

Solid even if not perfect. Yes start the 6th.

  37. Mark Moore

Appropriately aggressive Elly … I like that.

  38. Mark Moore

Switching over to Thrall and Cowboy. I’m a little more desensitized to Sadak/Larkin, but no need to press it more tonight 😀

  39. Mark Moore

So the intent there wasn’t to have Elly sneak a bigger lead and swipe home? Go figure … (as TySteve walks).

  40. RedAlert

Bleday stupid baserunning … ain’t the first time he’s done it either this year

    • oklared

If stevo hits into a double play though some will be saying Tito isnot being aggressive enough on bases. It was debatable either way you choose to go. Personally, I thought better option was to make the pitcher work he was not showing great control

  41. Roger Garrett

Trying to remain positive here but its getting harder.

    • Mark Moore

Yep. Wondering what went on there, who sent him, who missed a sign … so many questions.

  42. Dennis Westrick

Gotta give it to the Reds! They find more ways to not score than any other ML team!

  43. Jason T.

Clutch hitting once again eludes the Reds.

  44. RedsGettingBetter

Reds always find the way to not score with RISP and less than 2 outs…That has cost them a lot of games…

    • Dennis Westrick

Yes! A lot! More than a Baker’s Dozen I’m guessing!

  45. Angelo

That’s too funny, the guy nodding off

  46. Mark Moore

Start a power hitter with a meatball and what do you get?

  47. RedsGettingBetter

Of course if don’t score the other team will score against you

  48. Indy Red Man

Of course the Reds have 3 doubles, 3 singles, and 4 walks in 5 innings and somehow only score 2

    • DW

Yep. They struggle so mightily to get runners in.

    • H.B.

My wife just cracked a funny. I said, I’ve got to find something else to watch in the evening and she said, besides Gunsmoke? I said just read your book, and keep the comments to yourself!!! Seriously when’s Summerslam? Only kidding!!!

  49. RedsGettingBetter

Ok Lowder has a solid outing after 6 frames of 2-run ball. I don’t think he will continue in the game after 90 pitches…We’ll see…

  50. Mark Moore

Good for Lowder getting a solid QS tonight … but … (y’all know).

  51. Jason T.

Nice outing and quality start from Lowder.

  52. Old-school

    Lowder strong 6.
These Hunter Greene Dodger rumors are crazy. Im asking for the stars and the moon.

  53. Dennis Westrick

So, now the game is tied! Can’t blame Lowder! Maybe the Reds might have wanted to score one of those 6 men left on base! Can’t do that when you are 1 for 9 with RISP thru the first 5 innings!

  54. CincyDo

Given an opportunity Meyers claimed CF starting role

  55. Richard Fitch

    More stupid bunting strategy.

    • Mark Moore

But let’s be honest, Richard … that first one he offered at was “his pitch” anyway … 😐

  56. RedsGettingBetter

    Marte is unwatchable right now

  57. Mark Moore

There’s this feeling growing in my head that is fighting against the doses of pain pills I took a while back. And I think we all know why with the Statue and Swing.

  58. RedAlert

Just don’t see it with Marte – this guy just ain’t gonna cut it at this level of baseball …

    • Richard Fitch

Noelvi Marte is just 24 years old. Stop already.

    • Oldtimer

George Foster spent most of 1973 at AAA and hit 4 HR with 9 RBI as a Red at age 24.

Not saying Marte will be another Foster but no one though Foster would be one at 24 YO.

  59. old-school

Asking Marte to Bunt seems like a power move

Clearly, Tito and the Reds dont think hes a committed team player and they are going to embarass him which they did.

    • Roger Garrett

I agree and I am out of this mess.

      • Roger Garrett

Just one more thing and I will go and its negative. In what world do you ask your 8 hole guy to bunt, who probably has to clue how to do it to set up your 9 hole hitter. It was strictly as you said OS a power move.Send Marte down please and now we know why all of this up down start sit go down to the minors after 29 at bats early etc etc.DFA tonight and move on.

  60. Jason T.

Bad swing and miss for the strikeout from McLain. That’s the McLain I’m used to.

  61. RedAlert

Worst collection of situational hitters in MLB…. Just unbelievably horrible

  62. DWCT

    1-12 w/RISP through is 6 innings. SMDH.

  63. dimondfvr

1-12 with runners in scoring position through six innings.

  64. Indy Red Man

1 for 12 risp lol. Hit your way on base, you’re good enough to knock the guy in with a hit. Crazy how bad they are. Team choke

  65. RedsGettingBetter

How can win this team? Consistently doing bad plays , can’t come thru with RISP, wrong pitches, bad defense, bad baserunning… Having in the roster Marte, Friedl, Hayes. McLain , Trevino as hitters is horrible…

  66. Dennis Westrick

Simply unbelievable! First 2 men get on base then nothing! Again, cannot advance runners or score runs with SOs! Eight men LOB and a mind-boggling 1-12 with RISP!

    • oklared

And yet the Pirates who have made “good trades and signings” can’t seem to put us away. winning is hard and fickle

  67. Dennis Westrick

Pirates get a one out walk! Just wait! They will find a way to score the runner!

  68. Indy Red Man

Not even watching, but we desperately needed a steal with Ivan Johnson in the 8th on Tuesday down 1 run & do nothing. Tonight Bleday gets thrown out with 1 out and lead run on 3rd….what are they doing? Tito bobblehead? He’s been a bobblehead all year. Go back where you came from

    • Tony Cloninger

Running Bleday when you hardly try to run the faster players has been one of those weird Tito things.

  69. Tony Cloninger

So now someone is saying they are trying to embarrass Marte by having him bunt? So they can squeeze out a win possibly by doing that?

He looked good in his previous AB. Then on this one. He does his usual thing.

Then Matt tries to pull an outside pitch and then swings at the dirt.

  70. RedAlert

Get this clown off the mound before he gives the game away … inexcusable !!!

    • RedAlert

I hope he gets out of it but these walks …. unreal

  71. Jason T.

Come on Burke, back to back walks? Probably not smart.

  72. Tony Cloninger

Now Burke who’s been used like he’s Wilbur Wood when he was a reliever is a clown?

I get the frustration. Calling players who’ve produced. Clowns or trash is weird to me.

    • JB

Some nights you have it and some you don’t but Burke and Antone are the two best relievers on the Reds and it’s not close.

  73. DWCT

Ruh. Roh. Brandon up with the bases choked and 2 outs

  74. RedsGettingBetter

Burke is trying to give runs for free to Pirates…insane

  75. Dennis Westrick

2 walks and a HBP! Just want you want your RP to do in a tie game!

  76. Mark Moore

Borderline too much heart-racing nonsense for this old by this close to bed time …

Glad we wriggled out of it. And it won’t be Burke next inning.

  77. Dennis Westrick

THANK YOU, Mr. Burke for that HUGE bases loaded SO of Lowe!

  78. Tony Cloninger

Pirates nation is up in arms and as mad as scurvy right now.

  79. Noyes

With Burke it just kind of is what it is. I could see the power lefty wildman act working in October, when the temperature drops and the adrenaline goes up to 11. Hard to picture a big trade return but who knows?

    • Mark Moore

LHRP is always wanted at the season drags on. It won’t be a big trade, but there is value there. Just depends on how the wind blows.

  80. DWCT

Someone comes through this inning. Right? Right?

  81. RedsGettingBetter

Could this be the moment with bases loaded and 1 out?

  82. RedsGettingBetter

    Nooo …this is too much…really brutal…

  83. Mark Moore

Not sure how much more I can hold out tonight. It’s been a bit of a long day that started at the dentist (but at least his dog was there to greet me).

    • dimondfvr

Hmmm. Root canal or watching Reds play!? LOL

      • Mark Moore

Only a cleaning. I’ll never do another root canal … 😮

  84. Jason T.

Just wow… just when you think the Reds hitters couldn’t get worse with RISP. Absolutely pathetic right there. Bases loaded. One out. And nada…

  85. RedAlert

Unbelievable – no words . Never seen
another team this bad with RISP .

  86. Indy Red Man

Wild and topping out at 93. Surely Geno would get it done. Nope….rocket but couldn’t get lift on it. 1st pitch would’ve been fine if he kept it fair

  87. Votto4life

Elly is having a terrific season.

  88. DWCT

Hector Rodriguez hit # 26 tonight. Tell me again why is he down in Louisville and Marte is in Cincinnati?

    • Votto4life

Marte was tearing up AAA pitching when he got called up. There is just a huge gap between AAA and the major leagues these days. At least where hitters are concerned.

Just have to take AAA numbers with a big grain of salt. Kinda like how you had to discount numbers from the Pacific Coast League back in the day.

    • Ksdavis

He has been in a bad slump lately. As Doug as said he will have to hit much better because his defense is below average

  89. JB

Luis Arraez free agent after this season. Sign him and stick him at 2nd. On base hitting machine that hits for high average. His strikeouts are very low and has more doubles and walks than strike outs. Oh and he is hitting .407 in his career at GABP. Will it happen? No chance.

    • Noyes

Much better idea than trying to turn the players on hand into Luis Arraez.

    • David

Would SF trade for him…now? What do you think it would take to sign Arraez to a contract?
I agree, playing 2nd base and batting leadoff would be impressive.

      • JB

Arraez,Elly and Stewart. Then you just need 6 more guys!!

    • Melvin

His stats right now are .328/.364/.811. You would think it’s the 70s. I’ve liked him for a long time. He’s a player that you “find a place for”.

  90. DWCT

The M&M&M boys. Myers, Marte and McLain. That’s a guaranteed run.

  91. RedAlert

Marte needs to be on the bus to Louisville after this game …. Seen enough of this dude … get Hector up here , no way he’s any worse

    • RedAlert

McClain can’t hit at this level either …. That’s 11ks this evening …. He and Marte have 5 of em

  92. RedsGettingBetter

    Three pitches for Marte strikeout…
Three pitches for McLain strikeout… LOL…

  93. DWCT

7 pitches. McLain didn’t swing the bat. New hitting coach please.

  94. dimondfvr

    Another game with double-digit strikeouts.

  95. Jason T.

McLain just stares at 3 straight strikes. Bat never leaves his shoulders. Guy is awful. Zero zone awareness.

    • RedAlert

He ain’t got a clue Jason ….totally lost

  96. Justin T

Off the Marte bandwagon. I can no longer defend him. That young man needs a change of scenery. Getting out of this organization would probably be the best thing for alot of these guys.

  97. RedsGettingBetter

    Pagán in a tied game… Pretty dangerous…we’ll see…

    • Hanawi

He’s been quite good since coming back off the injured list.

    • oklared

He is very close to the least of this teams problems

  98. Steve F

Marte needs to sit. This is painful.

    • TR

The 24 year old Marte has a lot of talent, but it won’t be developed with the Reds. Include him in a trade for a prospect.

  99. DWCT

The Reds have the heart of their lineup due up in the 9th. Might as well win it right here

  100. Mark Moore

Once again, our pitching has done its job. Can somebody step up and end this for us?

I’m out after this inning win, lose, or draw anyway.

  101. CincyDo

When was the last time we had a walk off? Let’s do it now.

  102. DWCT

Pirates took Mr. Triple Digits out. TYVM.

  103. Jeremiah

Man Montgomery has an arm, and no shame striking out to him. But Marte, McLain striking out on 6 pitches. I feel kind of embarrassed for them and the Reds in general.

Something’s not right with this organization right now systemically on the Offensive side, hitting philosophy, etc.

  104. DWCT

No matter how frustrating this offense is, one run will send us all home happy.

  105. Jeremiah

Come on Reds gotta win this game! So many chances to get a run in.

  106. DWCT

EDLC has given us a runner on second with nobody out.

  107. Mark Moore

Elly is having some kind of a night at the plate.

    • Richard Fitch

Elly. Elite. Electric. All the “E’s”

  108. Michael B. Green

    Why isn’t Bleday bunting?!?

    • DaveCT

Bleday has had 1 sacrifice in 1880 plus ML plate appearances, which is probably the reason.

Then again, Marte has had 0 (zero) sacrifices in 885 ML plate appearances.

      • TR

Marte is too busy swinging at pitches too far off the plate.

      • Michael B. Green

Every single major league player can bunt. Every single baseball player of any kind can bunt. Smalls could bunt before Benny helped him.

  109. CincyDo

Bleday ain’t it. We need a 3rd bat.

  110. Mark Moore

Oh the high drama of it all. Just lift one a little bit, Lowe.

  111. Mark Moore

Walk it off on a slow grounder … anybody have that on their BINGO card tonight?

    Catch you all tomorrow.

  112. Steve F

I think that’s a double play if the infield is at normal depth.

  113. Jeremiah

Reds win! Vets get it done there in Stephenson and Lowe keeping the inning going and putting the ball in play.

  114. David

    And, they pull it out.

Somehow. Because Soto was the wrong choice to pitch the 9th.
Why didn’t Soto pitch the 8th, because Montgomery had electric stuff.

  115. RedsGettingBetter

Lowe manages to put the ball in play bringing the run to walk it off… Incredible win…

    • TR

Meet the ball, hit the ball got it done.

  116. CincyDo

Professional hitter Lowe got the job done. Hard earned win.

    • Ksdavis

I know Lowe’s not a star but he gives a professional at bat most time. Has the third highest average on the team. He will probably be traded but I wish they would keep him.

      • TR

Lowe is a natural hitter, usually against righthanders. If the Reds don’t keep him, their offense will be even more inconsistent.

  117. DWCT

    12 Ks + 12 LOB + 1 for 15 w/RISP = 1 WIN.

    • Dennis Westrick

Tonight, yes! Not often though! Thankful for the win! Gotta do a better job of cashing in on scoring opportunities, especially early in the game!

      • Oldtimer

Reds SP had QS and bullpen allowed no runs in 3 IP.

That wins most of the time.

  118. Steve F

I mean this seriously. Why wasn’t someone waiting in the dugout with a towel for Lowe?

  119. Noyes

    Another dominant victory.

Sweep the series and they catch Pittsburgh in the standings!

  120. Dennis Westrick

Lost in all the 9th inning drama is the fact that Lowder pitched well tonight and probably deserved a “W”!

    • David

Lowder is not a power pitcher, but he can be effective. He needs to just get his core strength up overall, after missing all of last year.
He has been very inconsistent, but he can be good. He will probably not pitch well the next time out. They have to keep pitching him so he can get stronger.

    • Oldtimer

Joey Jay had 75 W in 6 seasons as Reds SP. Tom Seaver had 75 W in 6 seasons as Reds SP. Jay won 21 games twice and NL pennant in 1961. Seaver never won 20 games as a Red nor an NL pennant as a Red.

Jay had 12.9 WAR and 99 OPS+ as a Red.

Seaver had 18.4 WAR and 116 OPS+ as a Red.

Same number of W as a Red but Seaver was better.

  121. RedsFanForLife

Might have been a double play if the SS let the 2nd baseman field it. Take a win anyway you can. Ok Tito, got the win. Send the same lineup out again tomorrow. That’s unless someone gets traded before the game.

    • Indy Red Man

They were all shifted up and out of normal position. Good hustle. Has Lowe been hurt at all? Why only 50+ at-bats the last 2 months? They could’ve faced more lefties and he still should have more at-bats then that? Tito is strange with lineups, but I realize he’s got too many holes either way
