After a series win in New York, the Cincinnati Reds (37-39) return home to Great American Ball Park for a quick three-game set with the Milwaukee Brewers (46-29). Monday night’s game will be the first meeting between the two teams in 2026.
It will also be the first of seven games between the Reds and Brewers over the next 10 days. The Reds come into the series with a 5-5 record in their last ten games. Meanwhile, the Brewers are also just 5-5 in their last ten games.
First pitch is at 7:10 PM EDT.

Brandon Woodruff
The Brewers activated Brandon Woodruff from the injured list today, where he had been nursing a shoulder injury since April 30. Before getting injured, Woodruff pitched 30.0 innings in April, posting a 3.60 ERA and a 3.97 FIP with 25 strikeouts and seven walks. The 33-year-old hasn’t pitched a full season since 2022, including missing the entire season in 2024, but when he has pitched, he’s been good. His ERA has only ever been above 4.00 in 2017, his first year in the major leagues.
Woodruff doesn’t walk batters and he doesn’t give up home runs. He had one of the top strikeout rates and one of the lowest walk rates in MLB in 64.2 innings last season. In 2025, Woodruff’s splits were about even, with right-handed batters hitting him a little better than lefties. Neither hit him well with an average below .200, but righties had six home runs against him. This year, he’s allowed four home runs, two each to left and right-handed hitters.

Brady Singer
It’s no secret that Brady Singer has not had a good season, and it all starts with the home run ball. He’s given up 17 home runs, third-most in the National League. Of those 17 home runs allowed, 11 have been to left-handed batters. Lefties are hitting .324 against him this season. His strikeout rate is also down significantly from last year, at 17.1%.
Singer could be turning a corner though. His ERA in June is 2.40 over 15.0 innings and three starts. he’s allowed only home run in that span and his strikeout rate is at 24%. He’ll have a tough test tonight against the division-leading Brewers, but it will be an interesting start to watch. Milwaukee doesn’t hit a lot of home runs, but they make contact and are able to manufacture runs in other ways, such as stealing bases.

I know it’s hard making a schedule. But division rivals should not play 7 times in 10 days. It’s terrible for a whole bunch of reasons, especially with the new “balanced” schedule.
I’m sure the Brewers kind of salivate when they see us coming. It’s time to start putting a bad taste in their mouths.
Playing the Brewers. Singer pitching. Woodruff pitching. Elly not activated. And yet, here I am thinking that, maybe, the Reds make it 3 in a row tonight and inch up a little in the standings.
We have seen the enemy and he is Bernie
We need Brady the Bulldog tonight! Some early runs would be nice as well! Go Reds!
OK, let’s Kick This Pig …
One more game without Elly. Hopefully less of Steer at 2B going forward (maybe less of Suarez at 3B, though he seemed to do fairly well in NYC).
Bottom line here … we REALLY need a win to start this series and give us a boost.
Anyone know what the delay is? I’m seeing a lot of “stuff” on the field that won’t be cleared off in 7 minutes.
Well … nevermind. Just didn’t look like they would get it ready.
Onward we march.
Mark – Sometimes they pre-record those pre-game comments.
The Brewers’ shattered dreams?
+10,000
Thanks for that one.
FG projects that the WC has 83 wins. The Reds are currently forecasted for 78 wins so the Reds need to win 5 games that they aren’t supposed to. Taking 2 out of 3 would be a good start.
Well Singer starts off the game on a great note. Let’s Go to to work with the bats! Let’s give him some runs to work with!
2-13 against the division is pitiful.
2 out of 3 against the Brewers seems like a monumental ask.
No Elly tonight? Disappointing!
Tomorrow.
Anybody have THAT on their card for Singer’s first inning? 😮
Singer inducing swing and misses with his sinker at 91.2 mph
Nice way to start the game by Singer. Keep it up.
Gre1at first by Singer ! We need that playoff attitude tonight !
^Great^
A cyst at the shoulder joint is a side effect of a steroid injection.
Woodruff’s four seamer is only 89 – 90 mph… should be short outing.
Rain some long balls !
Wow, 2 flyouts and a strikeout … should be batting practice !
Here we go with the WALKS! Why?
hahaha You’re hilarious. A hundred years from now they can put that on your tombstone:
Walks…WHY? 😀
Walking batters is the worst Singer can do
Singer full on collapse watch in effect.
Singer gets Brewers to strand runners. Marvelous!
Singer starts out the 2nd with two walks … but K’s Mitchell for the first out !
Can’t afford to beat ourselves !
And he gets out of the inning unscathed !
Way to battle back Mr. Brady!
Singer bouces back to get out of jam unscathed… It’s weird getting a scoreless frame after 2 leadoff walks against the Brewers
That was surprising in a good way. Figured Frelick would make us pay.
Singer with the rebound. Nice.
Anyone else get weary of the ridiculous “framing” by Contreras? Trying to get a strike by dragging your glove up almost a foot? C’mon, man …
Exactly
Woodruff having no problems getting Reds hitters out so far.
Reds start the 2nd with 2 K’s… Woodruff is doing nothing fancy.
At least Geno hit it hard.
3 SOs by Reds hitters thru 2 innings with NO hits! Back to being the bad Reds tonight!
Singer and Woodruff soft tossers in today’s game, topping out at about 91mph. Didn’t realize Woodruff’s career ERA was so good.
Singer is battling but his pitch count is not good!
Singer retires them in order in the 3rd… nice!
Singer keeping the Brewers at 0. Going to need that the way our offense is looking early tonight.
Neither starter cracking 92…..we’re gonna party like its 1986
Location, location, location.
Except Woodruff was down 3-0 2-0 and gave them several right down the middle
Like the ambush attempt. Just needed to lift it a little.
Reds get good pitches to hit, and a couple get hit hard, but we go down in order in the 3rd. (Woodruff throws only 5 pitches, one was a K)
Despite Woodruff has many years not facing the Reds he comes in to dominate them again apparently even when there are new hitters in Reds lineup …I can’t believe this
Should challenge that 3rd pitch to Bauer…
Come on Reds offense, wake up!
Singer doing his job, now do yours.
Leadoff Double goes for naught … this one is going to be interesting.
9-pitch inning for Singer! He should be good for at least one more inning if not two!
Seven innings would be nice
6 scoreless innings by Singer would be a win in my book!
Dunn might have tried to start something with a bunt there
Is there a drinking game for every time Sadak says something about Woodruff?
Woodruff may throw a CG at this point. Reds have nothing.
No hits thru 4 innings and Woodruff at only 47 pitches! Not looking good!
Woodruff mixed in a couple of curveballs and a changeup that inning, but nothing the Reds shouldn’t be hitting. Must be a post Yankee wins hangover. Scoreless after 4.
I will never give up on the Reds but it is sad that again tonight they have fanned 6 times in 4 innings. They have no chance unless they put the ball in play.No chance.Yes a couple of line drives it looks like but that’s not going to get it done. Its just not.
Singer good so far.
Singer looking real good. Encouraging.
Need offense to wake up. Now.
Good old fashion pitcher’s duel tonight! Time to start getting some hits and make Woodruff pitch from the stretch!
Singer giving us a nice game if the bats wake up!
Singer shuts down the Brewers in the 5th. He’s got a one hitter going.
Reds don’t have a hit yet.
Nice recovery after a rough start to game by Singer ….come on offense , help this guy out !
Thought we would get a baserunner there… but no, Geno goes down looking.
Looks like a perfect game.
Heck, at this rate Woodruff is going to pitch a complete game shutout!
Reds juggernaut offense with a paltry 0 hits. Woodruff owns the Reds. Not very good at bats either. That’s the discouraging aspect.
This should be a joke … Woodruff is coming from an injury and has retired 15 batters in a perfect way …
Heck, at this rate Woodruff is going to throw a shutout!
It’s a perdect game right now
Not so sure footed Sal still makes a nice play. He’s a gamer.
Barry Larkin adds absolutely nothing to this broadcast …. Nothing
Against top of the rotation pitchers like Woodruff, this Reds lineup looks completely helpless. And Singer pitching his butt off.
Tyler is just beyond human in his ABS abilities. Just … WOW!!!
Future umpire if he wants it.
Com’on hitters, let’s get Singer a win!
I’d settle for a baserunner at this point.
It happened!
Need this from Singer until the trade deadline, so we can get the max return when he’s traded. We should also hope for Lowe, Suarez, Stephenson, Lodolo, Burke, Johnson, Ferguson and Pagan to be at the top of their games over the next month+. Sellers at the deadline, reduce the payroll and play the younger players that are brought up and acquired in the trades. Get younger, more roster flexible, give younger players more experience and go into the offseason with a plan of creating future rosters that are capable of being more competitive over a longer period of time. Don’t make the mistake of not acquiring assets with players that will become FAs and reducing the payroll.
Sure fire Singer humming along!
that’s the first challenge I’ve seen that should have worked but didn’t … It was a strike ! Yeah, we got the K anyway eventually.
Singer leads the charmed life thru 6 !
They just go up there without any sort of plan = poorly coached.
A really weird offensive game at GABP …just 1 hit through the 6th with no runs…
Singer made his best season start so far
Looky there. 🙂
9k’s so far by Reds hitters. SMH.
And a Reds hit! OMG!
Marte looked at a fastball strike on pitch 4 and swung at 2 balls on pitch 5 and 6. Pretty much summarizes offense problem.
Reds hitters love that high fastball. Can’t hit it but come hell or high water they are swinging.
Exciting game so far. Both pitchers doing well into the 6th.
Please send McLain to AAA. Dude can’t hit. At all.
McLain has 2 fastballs over the plate to it and didnt do anything with thr opportunities. Swung at a change up out of the strike zone to strike out. Sigh
They may have beaten the Yankees 2 of 3 but this is an awful offense against any pitcher that knows what he is doing.
At least Ty Steve broke the drought, but one hit is all we got in the 6th.
When Elly comes back , send McLain to bench role permanently …. Play Arroyo every day at 2B …. McLain absolutely nothing more than a bench player at this point … probably lucky he’s still in big leagues ..
It’s like two Greg Maddux’s out there tonight, dominating in the low 90mphs! Who will break through?
Somewhere the Dodgers are watching this thinking, we will dominate both those teams like last year if they make the playoffs again.
Schlitter is really good, no shame getting beat by him…Woodruff has been good his whole career. But the Reds it seems against good to great pitchers score a run or less below even those pitchers current or career ERAs. It seems some nights the Reds are 2-3 hitters still away from having 85-90 win type of Offense.
Considering the opponent and what’s at stake, Singer’s best game as a Red.
His best game as a Red and the garbage offense can’t get him one darn run.
Singer with an outstanding outing! He did his part.
Props to Steer for that attempt. Bernie’s boy is very fast.
What a solid 7 for Singer. Now we have to find him a run or 6.
Singer going 7 scoreless… just as we all imagined!
Imagined = Dreamed … 😀
Singer has done his part with no runs allowed thru 7 innings!! Reds are offering no support as evidenced by the 10 SOs thru 6 innings!
You must have gone crazy when Ken Johnson of Colt 45s no hit the Reds in April 1964, but Reds still won 1-0 on 9th inning run scored by Pete Rose on an error and Nuxy tossed a 4 hitter,
Random thought…people get on the Reds for getting whooped by the Dodgers in the playoffs last year…I think they actually whooped Milwaukee worse. I’d just be happy if the Reds made the playoffs and were competitive against the Phillies, Braves, etc. Dodgers still a different story for the most part. Brewers are great franchise, but probably still missing a power hitter needed or two to beat Dodgers or Braves.
Yep. Yelich isn’t who he once was. But they are a solid club that competes no matter what.
A really big effort by Singer with 7 2-hit shutout innings …the best performance by a Reds starter through the season
Great game by Singer. As many flaws as the Reds have, if Singer, Lodolo improve, Greene comes back, along with Burns, Abbott, the Reds could be competitive most nights for several months. Who knows, maybe the Offense clicks a little, Bullpen improves just a little. They could still hang around .500 and in the race if the starting pitching starts to meet it’s preseason potential.
Pitchers certainly doing their part.
Pitcher, that is.
Where did this come from with Singer? Hoping they found something with his pitch selection or tipping pitches or whatever that he has changed and can keep this up.
Bleday has really cooled off.
What happen to ‘just put ball in play’ Bleday?
The absolute lack of professional hitters in this organization is stunning …. Tells you all you need to know about the front office and scouting department ….. just unbelievable
Just a horrible night for an offense that was looking to get some momentum after 2 wins against the Yankees in New York.
New Brewers pitcher, same pathetic Reds offense. I get it, some nights it’s just not there but the Reds have too many of those kind of nights and our division owns us. Not a good look. At all.
Lefty Aaron Ashby on the other side in the 7th … nothing doing for our Redlegs in the 7th. Score still knotted at 0.
This is such a Brewers/Reds game.
Man o man Stephenson! ABS challenge a real weapon in his hands!!!
Just never thought the Reds hitters would do what they have done tonight in a very very important series even this early in the season.Maybe they squeak out a win but at some point against the teams in you division you just have to play better or in this case put the ball in play.Twenty one outs and 12 by strikeout is just not acceptable.Singer was awesome and could not do any better tonight.
Way to stick with it Matty!
Did anyone else see that nice article about Singer in ESPN where he paid off all of his parents debt?
I did not. Stand up thing to do.
McLain got real lucky that the runner was so slow.
Or he’s a very talented MI who stuck with it and made a strong, accurate throw. Slower runner did help, but he never panicked.
He’s certainly not with the Reds for his offensive abilities, that’s for sure.
Mclain stayed with it made the play and Moll finishes them off. Time to score some runs!
Unfortunately, Uribe followed Ashby.
This game is becoming dramatic into the end
I wonder how many teams have over half their outs by strike outs? The Reds sure do lately.
Very nice inning by Moll.
Don’t need any heroes just put it in play, take the walk hit it the other way.Do anything to get on base and add some pressure. The Brewers defense is asleep.
Reds 1-22 with 12 K’s. Brewers not much better.
What game are we watching?
If there’s a work stoppage, all sides lose. Players and owners and fans. Lower the mound. I dont know…But when first round draft picks fail and dont see a second contract something is wrong. Lower the mound. Do something. The game has swayed too for 100 mph pitching and spin. No one wants to watch 1-0 in 10 innings with gift hunters and awful hitting.
How long can you play Steer and Suarez?
Steer 104 ops+
McLain 80 ops+
Way more concerned by McLain.
Steer’s very deep slump makes us ignore his OPS+ number. You have to believe he’ll break out of it, but it is painful to watch.
No doubt Steer is slumping. No denying that. I have way more faith he’ll get back on track.
McLain should be in AAA. He’s lost at the plate. He’s been that way since the start of 2025. Time to pull the plug.
I didn’t realize Woodruff had pitched a perfect game through 6 innings. And I think it’s his first game back in months. Seems both teams are a bit asleep tonight. Sometimes you wonder, Monday night in June, maybe it’s like how we can all be at a normal job, there are days maybe you’re not not doing your job, but slacking a bit, a little lackadaisical, going through the motions, etc. Maybe MLB players are like that some nights. Or maybe it’s just great great pitching.
Yep and yep. Quite an outing for him after his layoff.
Woodruff’s fastball command was nuts. Dot after dot after dot.
In the Reds case I think it is just poor hitting, the Brewers are most likely having a bad night.
I’m a little afraid of that too. But hey, it’s tied and the Reds have a chance to win, so that’s the good thing!
Tied with the Brewers after 8. What could possibly go wrong?
I’ll bite, recent history says a lot.
Have I said that I really like Dunn out there in CF?
Steer is streaky, but 20 strikeouts in his last 49 at bats. I wonder what his approach is recently. It almost seems Steer only hits mistake pitches right down the middle at times.
Dunn also has not struck out and saw 15 pitches in 3 at bats.Just puts the ball in play.Rest of team may want to try that like right now and lets win this game and move on.
Whew ! I thought Burke was going to lose him!
Shall we end this now?
Strikeout! Reds going toe to toe with the Brewers. Just got to push across a run.
Weird free pizza night for the 1,000 in attendance.
Funny, but true. This team just doesn’t excite fans.
I agree Steer is better than a lot of hitters but not lately, he has been awful.
Strikeout! Reds going toe to toe with the Brewers! Push across one rin now and we win!
A single run will win it. Gotta beat divisional opponents. 2-13 is atrocious.
Stephenson hit it hard. no pinch hitter for Mclain?!
Can’t afford to lose his glove tonight.
Sigh.
Well in extra innings the Reds will get a runner on base.
I’m too tired for extra innings tonight.
McLain. 0-3. 3 strikeouts. Yikes. Bad!
I don’t expect him to hit when he’s up. It’s more of a surprise when he does hit. At least with Arroyo he brings more hope.
Amen JB. Arroyo looks much better at the plate. He’s more comfortable and it shows.
Com’on Dunn get on base anything will do.
That was no strike one to Dunn ! But it doesn’t matter, we’re onto extras …
I haven’t seen a 0-0 tie thru 9 this year.
How many challenges have they called on this guy? Not to mention the ones he has missed that the Brewers should have called
Here we go. Extras. And Milwaukee gets a runner on 2nd as well.
What do we feel yall? Wheres the confidence level?
60/40 in favor of the other guys …
I’m jealous of you optimism…
It seems tonight the Reds won’t hit anything just when they have had the best performance by the pitching …it’s frustrating
Stephenson and Dunn at least made solid contact.
Glove or no glove, you can’t justify McLain and hit strikeouts in a lineup that is already offensively challenged
Now that is funny but it could be the winner.Lets hope so.No mood to hear well we battled and competed etc etc.Need to hear REDS WIN REDS WIN
No walks Tony. Please
So much for that.
Wild pitch brings in another one … One run down, OK, but 2 runs ?
Here we go…
I feel 2-14 in division incoming.
I hope the red’s hitters are watching how it’s done for the bottom of the inning.
This isn’t a good situation.
The positive thing here is Dunn starts out on 2nd. The negative is they won’t bunt him over.
Reds will be swinging for the fences.
Classic reds Affair. Thanks for making me believe ????
Bad Tony is back!!!
That’s likely it for the night. Tony didn’t have it and we pay the price.
Ball game, nice job Santillan. 2 and 14 = awful.
Unreal
Great timing for first wild pitch Tony …. Just great … and looking like bullpen giving another gift win
And the Reds is finding the way to lose this game …this wild pitch is a gut punch…the walk haunted …
Not surprised. Not sure why the did not use Petty!
Well…3 chances to hit a HR
This guy stunk when he pitched for the Reds
Lol Brewers using Kuhnel against them after Reds kicked him to the curb.
1 hit won’t win many games…
Myers off the bench … really impressed !
All out hustle by Myers
Cant put Tony in to pitch in a tie game in
extras … just can’t do it …..he’s been way more bad than good this year
Does anyone think there was one iota of doubt in the Brewers dugout at any time tonight?
Nope and that’s why they put Kuhnel in.
10 innings of inept offensive baseball by the reds….offensive to watch too
That the Brewer Pen was lights out … but we had many good four seamers from the Brewer starter to hit, and just didn’t. Really tough way to start the series against them. 2 hits thru 10, and 14 K’s.
Unfortunately Brewers own the Reds.
This one hurts. We hung with em for nine innings. Get em tomorrow.
Same ol same ol.
Why is Benson on this team again? If Tito won’t even pinch hit him for Steer (or Myers)…
Yes, Benson should’ve hit for Myers. For some reason Tito didn’t!
Could mean that the days of Benson as a Red are finally over. We’ll see.
Draft some potential hitters in upcoming draft !!!! This offense is just minor league
level
Nothing changes until
There are changes made in front office … just like Groundhog Day …
It took Joey Votto six years to make it from Reds draft pick in 2002 to Reds starter in 2008. I doubt many hitters the Reds draft will be better than Votto was.
True , but they sure can’t be any worse than we are seeing now ! They are scraping bottom of barrel …Have neglected
offensive needs in draft year after year
after year and it’s finally caught up to them …
Neglected? Here’s their 1st round picks for the last 10 years:
2016: Nick Senzel, Taylor Trammell
2017: Hunter Greene
2018: Jonathan India
2019: Nick Lodolo
2020: Austin Hendrick
2021: Matt McLain, Jay Allen II, Mat Nelson
2022: Cam Collier, Sal Stewart
2023: Rhett Lowder, Ty Floyd
2024: Chase Burns
2025: Steele Hall
10 years, 15 1st round picks. 10 of those picks have been hitters.
They certainly haven’t neglected hitters. You can argue they didn’t pick the right guys but they certainly spent a lot of their last decade drafting position players instead of pitchers.
Sal Stewart and Steele yet to be determined , but the others appear to just be subpar picks that never really materialized at MLB level …. Definitely appear to have drafted the wrong ones Doug , I will agree completely with that …. Goes right back to scouting department in my opinion…
Back to 3 under 37 and 40. The first game in the 10 games that will make or break the season is a horrible 2 to 1 loss. We all just keep hoping and these clowns keep letting us down time after time.
Apparently there’s no cursing allowed on this forum so I’ll say only this: “screw this team”
We are all with you Lex, it’s just getting old.
And the president of baseball operations and the GM…
I am with you Lex, this team is a joke.
What a great intense baseball game. Heart break loss, and now 2-15 vs nl central, however they are pitching better and battled this evening.
On to tomorrow
This game is on the offense …just 2 hits in 10 innings , 14 Ks , bad at-bats, bad approach…they gave a gift to the Brewers tonight… 2-14 against the division rivals…atrocious
Misiorowski was suppose to pitch Wednesday and they pushed him to Friday to face the Cubs. The Reds are not a threat to them and they know it.
2-14. We’re a threat to no one in our division.
Pathetic.
On October 6th, 1995 at 11:44 PM EDT, Jeff Brantley induced a fly ball by Mike Piazza to Reds centerfielder Darren Lewis to complete a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.
There have been 11,217 days between October 6, 1995, and today, June 22, 2026.
Besides the horrible offense…you lost the game because of a walk & a wild pitch….just handed them the game on a silver platter
Nice job Brady Singer … can’t ask for anything more that the effort he gave tonight … worst bat to ball skills I’ve ever seen on this team
14 SOs are just inexcusable!
Brewers struck out 11 times. A team that doesn’t strike out much.
How many times do you look at the box score at the end of the game & see the reds have struck out double figures…it’s constant
