After a tough looking spring training Andrew Abbott flipped the switch to regular season mode and threw six shutout innings for the Cincinnati Reds on Opening Day. Unfortunately for him he was matched and more by the Boston Red Sox pitching who combined for a 4-hit shutout in a 3-0 win to begin the season.
| Final | R | H | E |

| Boston Red Sox (1-0) | 3 | 12 | 1 |
| Cincinnati Reds (0-1) | 0 | 4 | 0 |

Andrew Abbott and Garrett Crochet were both sending zeroes up to the scoreboard through the first four innings of the game. But the Red Sox were threatening in the top of the 5th inning when they had two infield hits with one out. The second one was a 110.2 MPH line drive that hit Sal Stewart in the forearm and led to him being checked out by the trainer, but he remained in the game. Abbott had runners on first and second that he had to try and work around and he came back to strike out Trevor Story and Jarren Duran to strand both of them.
In the bottom of the inning the Reds offense got a little something going when Matt McLain drew a 1-out walk. Elly De La Cruz followed up with a single into center – just the second hit of the day for Cincinnati. Sal Stewart then lined a single into right field to load the bases. But just like in the top of the inning, the next two batters struck out to strand the runners on the bases and the game remained scoreless.
The Reds turned the game over to Pierce Johnson to begin the 7th inning. He gave up a leadoff double to Marcelo Meyer. A sacrifice bunt moved him up to third base and then he scored on a Ceddanne Rafaela single back up the middle to put Boston up 1-0. Johnson faced three batters, threw nine pitches, gave up a run and was then replaced as a call to the bullpen brought left-hander Sam Moll to the mound. He struck out Roman Anthony on three pitches and then got a ground out to end the inning.
The Red Sox also went to the bullpen to begin the 7th inning and they turned to Justin Slaten. He would walk Tyler Stephenson to begin the inning. Terry Francona pulled Noelvi Marte and sent lefty Will Benson to the plate to try and get the better match up against the right-handed reliever even though Marte had an OPS of .821 against righties last year and Benson was just at .708 against them in 2025 and the pitcher himself is better against lefties. The move didn’t work out as Benson struck out. Slaten got out of the inning with a fly out and a strikeout to hold onto a 1-0 lead.
Sam Moll and Graham Ashcraft combined to keep Boston off the board in the top of the 8th inning. Sal Stewart tried to get something going in the Reds half of the inning with a 2-out ground-rule double but he was stranded there when Eugenio Suarez struck out to end the inning.
Connor Phillips took over in the 9th for the home team. He gave up a leadoff single before retiring the next two batters. He got a called strike three to end the inning, but Roman Anthony challenged the call and won. That turned strike three into ball four and extended the inning and moved the runner up. Two pitches later Trevor Story lined a single into left field to bring in a run and extend the Red Sox lead to 2-0. That ended the day for Phillips as Brock Burke took over. The first pitch he threw broke of Jarren Duran, but he got enough of it to loop it into shallow right field for an RBI single. He’d get Willson Contreras to pop up to end the top of the frame.
Aroldis Chapman entered the game in the bottom of the 9th to face his former team. He would get three fly outs to seal the game for Boston.
Key Moment of the Game
Ceddanne Rafaela coming through with an RBI single in the 7th inning that put the Red Sox up 1-0. It turned out to be the only run Boston would need on the day.
Notes Worth Noting
Andrew Abbott didn’t allow a run in 6.0 innings. He did give up seven hits but four of those never left the infield. He recorded seven groundouts and only had one fly ball out on the day.
Sal Stewart had three hits, including two doubles. The rest of the team had one hit (Elly De La Cruz) in 28 at-bats. Stewart is the first Reds rookie to record three hits on Opening Day.
The pitching staff as a whole recorded 11 outs on grounders and just two of them on fly balls.
Up Next for the Cincinnati Reds
Boston Red Sox vs Cincinnati Reds
Saturday March 28th, 4:10pm ET
Sonny Gray (14-8, 4.28 ERA in 2025) vs Brady Singer (14-12, 4.03 ERA in 2025)

Well, there goes wire to wire….It’s just one game. 🙂
Yep, going to the game Saturday! Wish us luck!
Wishing you and whoever a great time watching the Reds WIN. 🙂
Some of these comments crack me up. You’d think the sky was falling.
Kudos to Abbott and Stewart. Tip of the cap to Crochet. It’s just one game.
Is it one game or most of the same from the same group we all watched last year?
They have the weakest OF in baseball and it probably isn’t really close.
Don’t think they’re going to play 162 games against the caliber of pitcher that Crochet is.
If you’re not a fan of the product they’re fieldling then all I can say is don’t watch or follow them?
Again, I don’t believe 1 game this season against a top of the league arm is indicative of what the 2026 season may yield.
“Some of these comments crack me up. You’d think the sky was falling.“
I agree. It’s pretty ridiculous. I would expect comments like these from casual baseball fans, but some of the folks here have been following the game for fifty or sixty years.
Not RLN’s finest moment, but overall there are some very knowledgeable baseball fans in this group, they will bounce back.
Good post, Jason T.
Same ole thrill a minute lineup.
Terry doesn’t pinch run for Stephenson after a leadoff walk in the 7th.
Friedl is a 8-9 hitter on a legit playoff team
Friedl/Steer in the OF have to be 2 of the weaker LF/CF combos in MLB. Neither one can really run or throw. Average speed at best
Knew they’d send Hines down and already been down HG & Lodolo doesn’t surprise me either. The season could be 200 games and neither one could manage 160 ip. HG….yeah knew my elbow was loose last fall, but lets not get the surgery til March
I’ll be quick to eject this year. Francona has added nothing to this team
This team is designed to be mediocre, half-hearted effort by the Reds ownership.
Bye
It’s one game, let’s all relax.
I agree I mean if you are ready to bail on the season after one game are they really a Red’s fan or even a baseball fan? Some of the comments in this thread and the game thread are over the top.
No one is bailing. That’s a more ridiculous comment than those of us frustrated that they didn’t do more to improve the OF in the offseason and it showing up in the first game.
It’s like we’ve all been following the same flailing team for the last dozen seasons or something…
Hanawi, a comment a few spots before mine reads “I’ll be quick to eject this year.” That sounds a lot like bailing to me.
It is hilarious that people get so upset over a single game in March and yes it is ridiculous.
The 2026 Reds have played ONE game. LOL
As far as I know, following the Cincinnati Reds is not required by law. If you guys are so upset perhaps you should explore other hobby opportunities.
@V4L – Exactly sir. There are 4 or 5 people here that say they are going to “eject” come back and say “I’m out” …come back a week later after the Reds win 3 in a row, and say “That’s it for me”
So tedious.
Leave or don’t leave people….you don’t have to tell us your leaving…or Cleteing…Just leave…no fanfare necessary.
Hey Hanawi. Totally unsurprising in earlier posts there were a few posters on here who after the injuries to our starting pitching said aren’t we glad we did not trade any of our starting pitching in the off season for offense. Starting pitching was imo was all we had to get that needle moving OF that we have been needing forever.
Strangely enough during the off season I was advocating we trade for Jarren Duran of the Red Sox. So it’s danged if you do and danged if you don’t. IMO we have a better offense than we did last year with the addition of Stewart and Suarez. We have 161 games left to actually find out if that is going to be enough.
No it’s been 27 years
Being shutout in the OD I don’t like it at all … This game was very similar to many of the last season, good pitching , zero offense although they was facing an elite pitcher thru 6 frames ..by the way , the Reds haven’t hit last three games including the exhibition ones …frustrating …here we go
Offense in postseason form already, ahead of schedule!
Last post season the Reds averaged 4.5 runs a game against the Dodgers. Not sure what you’re saying.
Out old friend LOB showed up again.
LOL on the LOB.
Ha ha!!! Good one
Let’s look at the highlights.
Andrew Abbott, who was lousy in Spring training, pitched 6 shutout innings against a pretty good team.
Sal Stewart, much acclaimed rookie, had three hits.
Sam Moll pitched a shut out inning in relief, so he keeps going doing THAT.
And…..that’s about it.
The Reds have lost Opening Day before and had a good season. But the lack of hitting is a big concern. Crochet and the Boston bullpen seemed to be able to strike out anybody when it came to be a clutch situation.
It’s a loss – that’s bad. It was a shoutout – that’s bad. After that, many good individual things, and a few good team things. A good, tight game against a great pitcher and a pretty good team. No boneheaded moves, TOOTBLANs, or stupid errors. Some bloops and dinks, and a lost challenge.
It’s a long season and if this is as bad as it gets they are contenders.
Not a lot of opportunities for TOOTBLANs – I kid, I kid! 🙂
In Arizona, Reds P got clobbered and Reds hitters led all of ST in HR and R scored (or close to it).
Today, Reds P was pretty decent (especially Abbott) but Reds hitters (except Stewart) were not.
After one game out of 162, a number of the members of the Chicken Little Club have already arrived. Amazing. Too bad there isn’t an “Ignore” function on this site.
I agree, Scott. It’s only one game and I’m still happy the Reds are back playing baseball. ?
That question mark was supposed to be a smiley face. lol
The ? conveyed ambivalence. Always a reasonable position.
This. An ignore function would be stellar! And more emojis.
Great job though Doug, your hard work is appreciated!
lol…I have been waiting for the first “It’s early but…” comment. I guess we will have to wait until Saturday for it.
” THAT’S A JOKE , SON”- FOGHORN LEGHORN
haha “Am I gettin through to ya boy?” – He’s my favorite Bugs Bunny character. haha 😀
Fog is my fave, too. “I say there, Ma’am.”
They’ve been here all along. Biding their time.
It’s just one game, buy Tito has got to get over his love for Hayes. I just don’t understand it.
If you’re losing in the last three innings, and someone is on base, you should never ever let Hayes hit against a righty pitcher.
Besides that big blunder, I loved seeing real baseball again. I’m excited to see what Sal can do this year. And it’s just one game Geno, relax and hit a few homers.
If I remember correctly, Hayes put the ball in play 3 times, which is a lot more than most of the Reds did. Geno striking out twice was a big reason we lost. Bases loaded, one out and no runs. Not good. But yes, it’s only one game.
Agree on Hayes. Made some good plays too that, believe it not, may have prevented runs.
What an outing by Abbott …
And then the first Stink. Fish. Pot!!! of the season.
OK, now we shift focus to 161-1 record, right?
We’re thinking T-Bones for Saturday dinner, Melvin.
count me in-medium rare with caramelized onions
Just bought a paradise grill. Last night was my First time using it. Our 34$ ribeye steak ? was put on the grill at 700 degrees over a crisper element. I ended up with a major fire ? in the grill with flames. Shooting on the back and sides. I had to use a fire extinguisher to avoid flame hit the natural gas connection. Couldn’t open lid because it would have made the fire worse. Finally got control of things. The ribeye was burnt to a crisp. We couldn’t eat it. So much for a 4000$ grill
That’s it! I’ve had it!
This was the worst baseball game I ever watched in my whole life! I’m never watching another Reds game, ever!
The season is over! The Reds will never win another game, ever!
Trade everyone! Fire Tito! Demolish GABP! Punch Gapper in the snoot! Give Barry Larkin a wedgie! Tell Jim Day his coat looks stupid! Burn it to the ground!
With that said, see you all on Saturday.
Ok I get it, but I look at it this way:
You’re down 1-0 and your catcher draws a leadoff walk bottom 7. If you get to the 9th and you’re still down then its Chapman time. That leaves you 6 outs to play with, but yet you let Stephenson run for himself?
I’m in sales and I’ve played competitive sports. When in doubt…be aggressive. Nothing ventured nothing gained. Terry has gotten old. No HOFer would sit on his hands like he does
” THAT’S A JOKE , SON”- FOGHORN LEGHORN
+10,000
I’m right there with you 😀
Lol
Haha! Sounds great!
My only issue and yes it is one game but we wasted another good start from Abbott. Matt M needs to very good for this team to have a decent season.
A someone who hasn’t paid for cable or satellite for 12-13 years now, the Reds.TV streaming was impressive. I’m very happy to spend my 99.99 for the season. I wish they would have been able to do this years ago.
I think it’s really nice they’re offering that. I rarely watch the games because I don’t have Cable/Satellite and could never watch live on MLB because of the blackout restrictions since I live in SW Ohio. I haven’t gotten the streaming package, but really nice to know they have option finally for fans in SW Ohio without Cable/Satellite etc.
I just got it and it was very good yesterday. Happy to pay the 100 for it.
Their starter was/is really really good and AA was good enough.Reds didn’t play for an early run after Sal doubled but Geno probably hasn’t bunted in his life.Sox did play for one run late and got it.Its one game but pinch hitting for Marte was a little bit of a mystery to me and not only because of the stats Doug posted but if Marte is the starter in right then he is the starter in right.I get it he fanned twice but again he is the starter and I have no clue as to why he was pinch hit for right there. No sense to over think things I guess. Its one game and only one game but the key was the back to back punch outs with the bases loaded.Sal can hit and AA battled like he always does and gave the Reds 6 good innings.
Yea…given the splits not sure about the Benson move.
Geno didn’t earn any of his $15M yesterday.
Bummer to lose the first, but Abbott looked great and Crochet has been dominant for a while now.
We’re on to Saturday.
Positives
-Andrew Abbott awesome. I did not expect that. Man he’s a keeper! If he keeps pitching well for the first month or so, I’d think of a long term extension
-Opening Day usually doesn’t really mean much as far as setting themes, directions for the season…maybe though for the Pirates, Oneil Cruz probably shouldn’t be playing Center Field! But overall it seems in my memory Game 1 Results don’t really mean a whole lot for the rest of the season.
-Awesome weather for the fans
-Sal Stewart, I hope he doesn’t have a broken wrist/arm. Man he can hit it seems. I’d love to see him play for a few months consistently to see what he can do.
-Not many people score off of Crochet.
-Moll was good. I’m still kind of a believer in Moll being in the bullpen overall.
-Phillips not great, but I like the experience for him. Hope he can hang in there.
Negatives
-Offense lacking, reminded of last year.
-Suarez striking out, not coming through in the big moment…but against Crochet, it happens.
-Feels like they kind of don’t totally believe in Marte as an every day player? Hitting 8th, being pulled for Benson, some of the comments in spring training kind of saying he needed to pick it up a bit. I’m a little surprised, but not sure what to think about Marte’s future. Still love his hitting potential, but has to start proving it. So young at 23, but Reds can’t wait forever for him.
-Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, injured for Opening Day. No fault to them for injuries, but can you really plan your rotation around those 2 for the for seeable future? Thankful for the depth of the Starting Pitching, but if Lodolo misses a lot I’m not sure the Reds will be above .500 in May, early June,.
Other thoughts;
-Aroldis Chapman I think is a Hall of Famer.
-Red Sox are probably going to be pretty good overall, I think 90-93 wins.
-I still think the Offense will be better. I’m curious to see how they do against the non Aces, #2s of other teams, etc.
Marte is 24, turns 25 in October. Other than that, you seem to hit everything pretty much on the nose.
Some expert picked the Red Sox to win the WS this year, sure they have an excellent team.
Abbott is not the losing pitcher like it says in your line score graphic. Should be Johnson.
I can’t even use the “it’s still spring training for us, too”. Working to fix it now.
Same thing happens in the Chargers forum I follow. You’ve got fans who aren’t bothered by how the team is playing, they’re bothered by other fans being bothered.
That’s the part that cracks me up. The irony just completely misses them.
If I’m picking a side, I’ll take the fans who are frustrated after years of Reds mediocrity and an offseason approach that never quite addresses the obvious holes. That’s actually worth talking about.
But if some people want to complain about the complaining, go for it. We’ll stick to the baseball.
At least everyone gets to gripe that way. lol.
You have the “homers”, the guys that like to post more when the Reds lose. Everyone gripes about something or another… including myself.I have my own “pet peeves” that I roll my eyes about but I’m gonna try to let that go this year. Everyone does have the right to fan the way they want to. We may be offended by someone but we probably also offend someone ourselves.
I praise the good things and I also criticize problems that seem obvious or avoidable.
To each their own….. Go Reds!
Good to see the offense is in mid season form.
Everybody repeat after me: Spring training stats, good or bad, mean nothing.
Well, at least they didn’t lose one to nothing.
I am sorry but the ho- hum ” it’s just one game” people here are having trouble seeing the forest through the trees in my opinion.
I think the normal reaction after watching today should be concern, frustration, disappointment.
We really haven’t had a well balanced offense that can hit for average, power and speed since the 1999 season. Nothing today that I saw today suggests 2026 will be any different
More people should post comments like this. Apologize first so we know that what you are about to say is something we should be apologized to for having read it.
Yet last year they made the playoffs?
Yes they did make the playoffs last season. Look, I was very critical of this team in 2021 and 2022 because they were awful. The Reds put a terrible product on the field in those days. Last year and this year the Reds are putting a quality product on the field. Why not appreciate it?
Just because you’re not ready to jump out the window after the first game of the season doesn’t make you a “homer”.
We really haven’t had a well balanced offense that can hit for average, power and speed since the 1999 season.
Holy recency bias, Batman!
Disappointment, certainly. But Crochet is a terrific pitcher, I wouldn’t draw too many conclusions from this game.
Garrett Crochet on Opening Day in Cincinnati:
“As far as Opening Days go, this has been the coolest one I’ve been a part of,” Crochet said. “You can tell baseball means a lot to this town.”
Also, “There was some trash talk in the bullpen, but it was just the energy all game,” Crochet said. “The fans were very into it, so it’s easy to let them supply the emotion in that situation.”
One game is too soon to panic. However, the roster construction still raises questions. Is Benson really a better choice than Hinds or Bleday? Wouldn’t Bleday pinch hitting for Hayes have been a higher outcome move? Let’s just hope that Benson is on a very short leash and that Hayes either starts hitting or is relegated to defensive replacement in later innings. Krall needs to be working the phones still and solving the weak OF problem as he’s needed to do for several years.
My guess is that Tito will try to show confidence in Hayes at the beginning but if he doesn’t come through things will change. At least I hope so. If his numbers don’t change dramatically from the past couple of years we can’t afford to have him in the lineup. It’s as simple as that.
Just watched a few condensed games and looks like the Reds may have one of the worst OF around the league: Friedl showed limited coverage in CF, Marte and Steer aren’t the answer in the corners, Benson and Meyers are 4th/5th OF at best. Hopefully HRod, Hinds and Bleday will make their way to the majors.
As Doug said in the game thread. The ball to Friedl had a 30% catch probability.
That might not even take into account the strong wind blowing it further away from him.
Observations from GABP:
Abbott didn’t have his best stuff but he battled and got a couple GO that turned into Double Plays early. He really found his groove as the game wore on and finished even stronger than he started.
The crowd was electric and it seemed to cause the offense to become antsy. 4-5 pitches was was they saw in the first inning. A guy a couple rows back in 107 shouted an expletive and demonstrated he was a card carrying member of the chicken little club. I think the crowd, who was especially loud for Geno, affected him. He didn’t have any good at bats and went down swinging on a couple unhittable pitches. He looked like he was pressing.
The Benson move was odd. Guessing he was going to be the defensive sub anyway and Francona saw the righty and old habits kicked in. Even in game it felt like a reach. Afterall, he Friedl start a game when he clearly had a better matchup option on his bench.
The crowd really seemed to dislike Roman Anthony (not some girls who were shouting to him in the field). He was pesky.
Defense was solid. Swirling wind made Elly look bad on the pop out but he made an Elly extension so save it. Friedl had great effort on that double but came up a foot or two short.
Stephenson reached on an error but that ball was laced as it ricocheted off the third bademan’s glove.
It was the acquisitions who offered the least today as Geno’s outs seemed to come with runners on all day and Pierce Johnson gave up the one run which felt like more than enough after the Reds stranded Sal the next inning.
The ABS was fun at first after the Sox lost a challenge and the Reds won one and the same at bat. However, most of the stadium knew that called 3rd strike was getting overturned and then we all hated the challenge system and wanted to go back to the old days.
Defense was solid? Sal made at least 3 bad plays at 1B to my eye. Two of them were just not stretching for a throw when the play is going to be close.
I love Sal – he can really hit – but I’d really like to see him clean up the 1B defense.
Great report from the stadium….thanks
The crowd affected the fans? Well then weeknight home games in April/May will be there for the taking!!!
And the scoreboard stumper was tough as they asked for all 6 reds 1st baseman to start opening day at GABP:
I got Hatterburg, Casey, Votto, CES, and Stewart. I tried Will Meyers as the rando option but it was Vossler? Blowhard behind me kept repeating Steer.
In the ten years of the BRM (1970-1979), they lost four of the opening day games. By May 1, I’ll get concerned if the Reds have lost more series than they’ve won.
Obviously we all have different opinions and vibes with losing the first game of the season. I am in the crowd of let’s just move and relax it is one game. Remember this team made the playoffs, also the tigers and cubs got off to fast starts last year only to finish in second place at the end. Point is, baseball is a long season.
Myself, I am going to not get so wrapped up in wins or losses as some. Francona isnt a future hall of fame manager for nothing. Sure everyone has a right to be a fan, however I do question why 1 loss on opening day would bother you? As someone just said let’s see where they are come May or heck even June 1st.
Today is one of the longest days of the year for me. I hate the built-in off day after we start the year.
Catch the Bats game on Friday.
Was going to say the same thing. 🙂
Retaining to dumbest tradition of opening day and getting rid of the best.
Editorial comment.
Which loss was worse…this year or last year?
No offense to speak of and shutout? or 9th inning blown save by a not even close to their best reliever?
Last year’s was worse IMO.
Last year’s by a country mile b/c it was indefensible and fully preventable.
I understand its one game and it is no big deal but the folks here get so bothered by critical fans while rooting and defending an organization that rolls the same product out year after and rewards and promotes coaches and personel dept guys who have losing records. Make it make sense. Stop being so sensitive, people can have their own opinions. Either way, its all going to be fine.
I’m with you, JT. However, it’s one thing to critique a managerial decision in the first game, fine by me, and it’s another to say the season’s are already gone.
They came out hacking against Crochet and rolled snake eyes in the first, and he came out of it on 4 pitches. Friedl saw two strikes, McLain got a good one and guessed wrong, Elly hacked at a bad one on the black, inning over. I get the idea, Boston had the same idea and it didn’t work for them either. The downside of being aggressive and coming up empty is that when Crochet actually did have his back to the wall he didn’t have to worry about pitch count – he could bob, weave, pitch around guys, and then when the count got to 3-2 he could make superstar pitches and get himself off the hook.
They mentioned Friedl won’t use his crouching stance in two-strike counts because the ABS zone doesn’t change to match your stance. For someone who trades off a good eye and K zone control, that’s something to keep an eye on.
Really nice inning for Moll. That and Stewart are the big positives today.
I’ll take a 6-inning shutout start from Abbott every 5 days.
Was a weird Abbott game. Great result, he’s always known how to pitch. 1 strikeout, 4 walks, a ton of grounders (!) Boston might just be really good.
Actually McLain had good ABs and the pitchers looked scared of him, that’s a plus too.
Can’t win ’em all…
I would like to have a discussion. Which is more valuable: Hayes’s glove at third or Lowe’s bat in the lineup? For Lowe to be in the lineup as DH, Suarez would need to play 3B, displacing Hayes.
What do people think? Is this off base?
Ask in a month
Hayes and his contract are anchored at third.
This is a great question. I would answer it as follows:
Replacing Hayes with Lowe, Lowe to DH, Suarez to 3B:
Name DRS wRC
Hayes 19 59
Suarez -4
Lowe 75
wRC = FGDC 2026 Proj. in 600 PA (~140 G)
DRS = DRS per 1200 Inn (~140 G) over last 3 years
Suarez is 23 R worse than Hayes at 3B which is about 2.3 additional losses.
Lowe is 16 R better than Hayes at the plate which is 1.5 more wins.
The expected net result would be that the Reds would lose an additional game (.8 G) by making this move.
Lowe FGDC 2026 Proj.: .245/.332/.408/.740
Hayes FGDC 2026 Proj.: .245/.301/.356/.658
Name 3yrInn 3yrDRS 3yrDRS/1200Inn
Hayes 3150 50 19
Suarez 4110 -13 -4
May see that but not often barring injury because Hayes was traded for to play every day.As we recall CES nor Marte nor Stewart were thought to be the answer at third base regardless of their bat.It may depend how bad the offense is going forward but I seem to recall that Lowe’s career OPS+ was higher then any Reds player so your point is valid for sure.Unless players just play themselves out of a job or injuries occur what we saw yesterday is pretty much the lineup we will see most of the time.
“Krall needs to work the phones” after Game 1 definitely the post of the day. Absolutely hysterically funny. Keep it up, folks.
Defending the way they played is as dumb as people being ready to jump off the bridge already. The team obviously needed to acquire help in the outfield. They didn’t. They go 4-32 at the plate in the first game (outfielders went 0-10), were you expecting people to be giddy today? It’s ok, fans can be disappointed, it does not mean they wont root for them tomorrow. “Fire the manager” is as silly and emotional as predicting 90 wins.
