The two teams have split the first two games of the series in Milwaukee. The Brewers remain in first place in the division and Sunday won’t change that as they hold a big lead over the other four teams, but the Cincinnati Reds outcome could move them up or down a spot. Today’s first pitch is at 2:10pm ET. The game is also MLB.tv’s Free Game of the Day.

Frankie Montas

After having the best start of his season on June 4th in Colorado, Frankie Montas returned on the 9th and couldn’t get out of the 2nd inning against Chicago and was charged with four earned runs.

The splits this year are pretty big for Montas. He’s pitched quite well against right-handed hitters, holding them to a .599 OPS. But left-handed hitters are performing quite well against him. They walk at a good rate, make a lot of contact, and they hit for a good amount of power. Not shown below are his home and road splits. While his ERA is similar-ish, six of his seven home runs he’s allowed this year have come on the road despite making two fewer starts.

Colin Rea

In the middle of may, Colin Rea went through a short rough patch, but he’s rebounded well. In his last four outings he’s posted a 1.64 ERA in 22.0 innings and has allowed just 15 hits and two home runs.

Similar to Montas, Rea has pretty big splits. He’s been very good against right-handed hitters as he’s held them to a .571 OPS this season. Lefties, though, have hit well. They make a lot of contact, hit for a lot of power, and have a good average against him. His ERA at home is 2.72 (3.93 on the road), but he’s allowed twice as many home runs in Milwaukee as he has on the road (6-to-3).

Is .232 a new position? haha Not picking on you. You said you wanted us to help you so that’s what I’m trying to do. You do a great job. 🙂

    • JB

That’s Doug’s polite way of telling Steer , get it going Spencer. Red’s need you to get hot.

      • Melvin

Yep yep. You must be right. It just went over my head. 😀

      • Melvin

You’re just checking to keep us on our toes I know. Thanks. 🙂

      • Doug Gray

That’s much better than saying I just screwed up – which is exactly what happened. I’m ready to go back to bed.

  2. JB

Hope they win today and then get back to .500 in the next series. They have to get over the hump and beat their nemesis. Brewers are in their head. Win today goes a long way. No Stephenson in the lineup. Oh boy. Here come the comments. Take cover. Lol

  3. Melvin

I know there are going to be those who ask why Stephenson isn’t at the DH instead of Martini. For the record I have the same question. 🙂 Let’s win anyway.

  4. Melvin

Just saw today that the White Sox put our old pal Chuckie Robinson on their 40 man roster. Good for him.

  5. Eddiek957

Happy Father’s Day to all. Let’s win this series today

  6. Mark Moore

We need the best possible version of Frankie today.

One more chance to Kick Bernie Up The Slide before heading for Pie-Rat Island.

    • Mark Moore

Willie B’s birthday … maybe a celebration-type day is in order? We can hope …

  7. Dennis Westrick

For those with short memories, one of the primary reasons the 2023 Reds did not win the NL Central Division nor make it as a WC team is because of their miserable record against Milwaukee. Only won 3 out of the 13 games versus Milwaukee if I recall!

With that thought in mind, a win in today’s game would go a long way to reverse last year’s trend!

Let’s score early and often! And, Frankie, for goodness sakes, please limit the WALKS!

    • Mark Moore

Yep. I recall a near-epic collapse down the stretch. I also recall that was not the first one we’ve witnessed.

    • Melvin

Yes. That’s why I think every game against them should basically be played like a playoff game.

  8. LDS

How many innings does Montas last? 46 years ago, Seaver tossed his no-hitter (I was there). Maybe lightening will strike twice and Montas no-hits the Brewers. Somewhere in the multiverse, it’ll happen.

    • Melvin

You just need to live in the Marvel universe. 🙂

    • Mark Moore

And we worked it into a run. Candy just missed that by a smidge or it would be 2-0.

  9. Indy Red Man

Good start. We need this one bad to break that Milw mental jinx

  10. JB

Lecure telling like it is on Montas performance this year. To bad that babbling fool next to him can’t do that.

    • Mark Moore

Cowboy did as well. Talking about his elbow angle post-surgery and what he did in Colorado.

  11. Mark Moore

Nice field … weak throw. Why am I not surprised.

    • Mark Moore

WLW booth saying there was rain pre-game but the roof is opening now. Noted the infield may be wet?

      • Melvin

I saw that. Still though Candelario not helping his defensive reputation on that play.

  12. JB

That ball hung up there forever. Didn’t think Fraley would get to it.

    • Mark Moore

He got a great read and ran the right route.

  13. GreatRedLegsFan

I see Reds have one player now hitting above .800 OPS, haven’t seen it for long.

  14. Indy Red Man

Frankie nice bounce back from 3-0 to Yelich. Milw hasn’t hit much in this series. Ton of gift runs Friday and a flukey hr after trying to bunt after 2 walks. Let’s go Frankie

  15. Mark Moore

Go get your glove, Willy. You went around.

  16. Dennis Westrick

A bit of a shaky start for Frankie in the 1st but we’ll take it!

  17. VaRedsFan

How come their catcher gets to play all 3 games and our doesn’t?
    That’s not fair!

    • Mark Moore

Practice for his August Paternity Leave?

    • Melvin

They obviously haven’t read the rule book.

    • Tom Diesman

He’s durable and ours is injury prone.

      • Tom Diesman

Yes. He can’t keep his hands out of the way of the ball either.

      • Melvin

haha Okay. 🙂 Need to put him in a closet today. 🙂

  18. Mark Moore

Cheerios pretty much catches everything in his zip code.

  19. Indy Red Man

India locked in somewhat but Martini cost us a run by not pulling ball down the middle. DH weakness costing us Ws by the month

    • Mark Moore

If only we had another option that had recently been on a hitting streak … 😮

      • Melvin

We get less out of our DH spot than most teams in the majors.

  20. Beaufort Red

Martini bunts Fraley over, another run. Bell is baffling.

    • Mark Moore

      Fundamentals and small-ish ball.

  21. Mark Moore

A little 2-out bingo here, Candy … please.

  22. Mike W

Happy Father’s Day to all you guys! I said to my “kids” (33 and 35 years of age) “You know what I want for Father’s Day?” They said “We know! Bell to resign so we can get a guy in that knows when to bunt a guy over.” I love my kids!

    • Mark Moore

And he had a slight hesitation to start.

  23. Mark Moore

First Wife says Elly just likes to get dirty.

Thanks for the 2nd run Rea. We appreciate it.

  24. Melvin

Ellyctricity in the house today. 🙂

    • Mark Moore

Too bad Snoop wasn’t in the house to see that action.

  25. Jonathan Linn

Cruz! I really want the Reds to sign him to a 10 year contact + 3 or 4 year mutual option that would take him through his age 36-37 year season.

    • Mark Moore

One word standing in the way of that … Boras. 🙁

  26. VaRedsFan

    Hamil-DeLaCruz-run.
    Elly needs a day off.

    • Mark Moore

Big difference is Elly took the BB to get on base.

  27. GreatRedLegsFan

I think his leap is almost 10 ft @full speed, just amazing

    • Mark Moore

On the triple, Cowboy saying his stride gets longer as he rounds the bases.

      • Melvin

Benson should take note of EDLC and his stride.

  28. Mark Moore

Nice throw from Luke to erase Perkins.

    Get Turang out now, Frankie.

    • Mark Moore

Yeah … Frankie’s mechanics look funky this inning.

  29. Indy Red Man

    Montas:

    Stuff #2 starter
    Command DFA

  30. RedsMonk65

    STEER!
Reds driving in runs in multiple ways today. Good to see.

  31. Melvin

Steer!!! Steer crossing….at home plate. 🙂

  32. JB

Melvin- Looks like Doug called out Steer and he produced. Lol

    • Melvin

Yep. He should do that with more players. Accountability. 😉

  33. Mark Moore

Completely different inning for Frankie there. And through the heart of their line-up to boot.

Rea isn’t laboring, but he’s giving up enough (including his own bad throw back to 2nd). Let’s keep it rolling. Benson still needs a birthday present.

  34. Indy Red Man

Steer always seems to get down 0-2, 1-2. These guys want to work the pitcher which I get, but if he’s not nibbling then you’ll only get down in the count. That HR he got up 2-0 and then did his thing. We need him because they can’t get going with 2-3 guys doing everything

    • Mark Moore

If I play back my probably sketchy memory of Colorado, didn’t we jump on their pitchers right out of the gate?

  35. Mark Moore

Thrall and Cowboy calling it a “half-dome” day … one half of the roof remains closed.

    • Melvin

Yeah. Because of the shadows at home plate evidently.

  36. Mark Moore

Will … you don’t want a Golden Sombrero for your birthday, do you?

    • Melvin

He’s probably already got several in his closet. He doesn’t need anymore. 😉

      • Mark Moore

Perhaps Suarez left him the shed he had custom built to house his collection.

  37. Indy Red Man

Frankie complete center-cut to Fralick 1-2. Cmon man?

  38. Melvin

Be ready Mr. Bell. Don’t leave him in.

  39. Roger Garrett

Bell please don’t set there and watch the wheels come off. Please don’t do that.

  40. Mark Moore

Note to Frankie … DON’T LOSE TURANG HERE!!!

    Nicely done.

  41. Indy Red Man

    There we go…no crooked number!

Don’t think I can defend Benson anymore and I gave up on Martini long ago. If we went Stuey or Capel for Benson then maybe Hinds for Martini then what difference would it make? They’re not contributing anything. Take Colorado away from Benson and he’s done nothing for quite a while.

    • Hanawi

Benson has a negative WAR right now. He’s not a MLB player and the fact that they run him out there every day is completely insane.

    • Mark Moore

Sadly, I must agree. I like Benson, but the experiment needs to end. The Martini call-up was more than a little puzzling to me.

      • Melvin

Comfortable. :)…for Krall. Not for us.

  42. Mark Moore

Looks like a line drive in the box score.

  43. Melvin

Sadak just ruined the no hitter Houston most likely. 🙂 Always seems that way.

  44. Roger Garrett

You just have to stop and hive props to our Reds. They are just awful at the plate as at a team,we don’t even put the ball in play yet we are only 2 games under 500.This guy pitching just fanned 4 out of the last 5 hitters he faced and he isn’t that good its just we are so bad.The good thing is I can see us improving on the punch outs and if we do who knows.

    • Mark Moore

It is kind of amazing. A couple decisions here and there that squeak out a few more wins and we’re comfortably over .500.

    • Hanawi

Pitching has definitely kept them around as they are in the upper half of the league. And they make up for the low batting average by leading baseball in steals, so they are middle of the pack in runs as well.

  45. Mark Moore

Robbed again by their weakest OF’er.

  46. Melvin

Get somebody up now Mr. Bell just in case. Oh Sims is already up. Oh boy. 🙂

  47. Melvin

Sam – “I’m thinking how can you not bring in Cruz in this situation”.

    • Roger Garrett

I agree but lets hope it works. This has been Cruz’s spot for sure.

    • Harry Stoner

      Sims.
I don’t have a good feeling about this.

  48. Daytonnati

Anyone else have a feeling that this is not going to end well with Sims?

    • Melvin

My stomach doesn’t feel good about it. 😉

  49. Melvin

Montas wanted to stay in. I’m not exactly comfortable with Sims coming in here. As Sam said….Cruz.

  50. Mark Moore

Well, Frankie. This switch is on you. You diddled around too much and didn’t get their guys (especially this inning).

Buckle up, folks. Sims with 2 on and nobody out. Need some Bike Helmets in the worst way.

  51. Harry Stoner

One pitch is all it took from Sims.

    • Old Big Ed

That’s actually pretty good for Sims.

    • RedAlert

He’s brutal … cut bait and find somebody else to bring up … dude has had chance after chance after chance …. fails, fails time and time again … Bell is brutal for continuing to use him in these situations

  52. JB

Like I said the other day, I don’t like Sims coming in with runners on.

  53. VaRedsFan

Why the heck is Maile giving out of the zone targets with a 3 ball count…He did it twice.

  54. Melvin

Oh boy. Can’t make this up. First pitch HR. We NEED more bullpen help. smh

  55. Melvin

Well the good news is Sims doesn’t have anyone on base now. smh

  56. Roger Garrett

Ball game and thank you David Bell.No way around it but Bell is not the answer.FIrst pitch cement mixer.

  57. Melvin

Sam saying the same thing we are. Sims does better beginning an inning. Cruz does better in these situations. Obviously Bell doesn’t see it that way….and it cost us.

    • Melvin

Maybe some team will take him in part of a trade. 🙂

      • DHud

Just sell him for cash and a High A lottery ticket and bring up Santillan

  58. CI3J

Anyone remember when WEBN made that Danny Graves song 2 decades ago?

They should remake it, but with Lucas Sims as the subject:

    Hey Danny
You come into the game and we’re winning 5 to 1
Somehow with 7 pitches you give up 30 runs
You make the other pitchers bats look like Adam Dunn’s, Danny.

    • RedsMonk65

Except Danny Graves is the all-time saves leader for the Reds…. Sims is nowhere close.

  59. Mark Moore

So Sims doesn’t have “it” today Mr. Bell. Don’t wave the white flag here.

  60. JB

Instead of getting Sims out of there , he gets a talking to.

  61. Indy Red Man

Adames.194 vs lefties and lefty on deck. We needed Moll there. This is a huge game & opportunity. That’s on Bell 100%.
Sims has proven time and again he’s not quality high leverage

    • Hanawi

Reverse splits are David Bell’s kryptonite

    • VaRedsFan

His handed-ness fetish has lost the team so many games.
He uses whoever throws with the same arm that the batter is hitting….regardless of skill level.

  62. Melvin

Why are our instincts (and others such as Sam L.) seemingly better than our manager Mr. Bell? 🙂

  63. Roger Garrett

Reds will never ever be any more then they are right now with Bell at the helm.He just has no clue and no feel for the game.Unless Cruz is hurt or tired or is fighting with his wife that spot has always been his.Bringing in a guy who is prone to give up homers or walk guys or both with 2 on and nobody out is just the worse thing you can do even if he gets the job done.No data anywhere can support that move.Eight out when it should have been 6 and could have been 4 is awful.

    • Melvin

One way or another even if Cruz was available we need more bullpen help. Are you watching Mr. Krall?

  64. Mike W

    Bell making more wrong decisions!
He could have left his highest paid veteran pitcher try and workout of the jamb he put himself in, or go to Diaz. He’s been the stud in high stress situations.
We’d be in 1st place if Bell wasn’t making the decisions this year, or last year, or the year before, or the year before……..

    • Mark Moore

We might not be in first place, but I maintain we’d be closer. Rumor has it my rankings are coming out after the game and he’ll be at #55 of 30 (at best) even if we pull a rabbit out of the hat.

  65. GreatRedLegsFan

So, how much more of Sims? He should no longer be in the roster, there’re better options for that role in AAA.

    • Melvin

Too bad we don’t have a guy down there who’s leading AAA in saves….oh. 😉

  66. Mark Moore

Strikes out the side in the midst of giving up the lead. Or what we like to refer to as Sunday afternoon here on RLN.

  67. Indy Red Man

This is going to sound like an idea along the lines of naming Charlie Manson head of the boy scouts, but Adames will be a free agent. He’s excellent defensively and a clutch hitter. Shift of power right there! Start w Frankie’s $ and go from there

    • RedsMonk65

I’d love it if Adames were a Red. Wish we would have acquired him a few years ago.

  68. Roger Garrett

Getting old to tune in just to see how many times we strike out or get picked off or watch Bell just make a mess of things.Time for me to go away.Just tired of it all when I know we could do better with different leadership.Six years of this stuff and two more to come is well more then this old man can handle.

  69. Gpod

In case you can’t listen to Bell in the postgame…..here is his comments on Sims: “He has done so many great things for this team, he has been so solid for us…..he will be right back out there making great pitches….I’m not worried about him….he will be great” Play it again sam

    • Melvin

hahahaha Funny thing is you’re probably exactly right. hahaha

    • Harry Stoner

Spot on, if he even addresses it.

I think Bell mewls these platitudes to deflect questions about his own questionable decision making.

“Sims w Runners on” + “Adames’s reverse splits” = maybe using your head?

“This won’t change who Bell is!”

  70. Melvin

Bell hasn’t exactly had a stellar experience this series handling the pitching staff.

  71. Mark Moore

Out, HBP, BB … and switch pitchers.

  72. Roger Garrett

Almost forgot to say Happy Father’s Day to the nation.

  73. Melvin

Let’s come back and win this game. We can do it. 🙂

  74. Mark Moore

And we can’t muster any 2-out magic … squandered more opportunities.

  75. Indy Red Man

8 series in a row to another small market team. Un ‘n acceptable

    • RED THUNDER

But the Reds always win the first game of the series. Keep looking for upgrades Melvin!

    • RED THUNDER

Yes, Indy Red Man it is.. but here we are..

  76. Melvin

Watching baseball in America and listening to God Bless America on Father’s day. Hard to get better than that even if we lose…….I’d rather win though. 😉

  77. VaRedsFan

Reliever has reverse splits….lefties hit better off him.
Bell takes out the lefty. But it’s Benson who is miserable vs lefties.
I have to agree with Bell on that one.

    • Mark Moore

Definitely agree with lifting Benson. Stewie just couldn’t get anything done.

      • Melvin

We need an every day outfielder to go along with Steer and Friedl. Period.

    • Mark Moore

Yep. Clete loaded quickly. I’m out.

  78. Mark A Verticchio

Reds just can’t get the big hit. This will be a horrible loss. I am not sure how long this team can even stay within reach of the wild card. Marte is going to have to make a big difference and he is still 9 games away. looking at 34 and 37 going to Pirates, with Skenes going Monday. Meanwhile this is getting ugly.

  79. Jeff morris

L Sims strikes again! Why not put S Moll in, someone reliable. L Sims way too inconsistent! Always hold you breath when he comes in. Crucial game for the Reds, and Sims failed again.

  80. Melvin

Bunt hit squeeze RBI. Why can’t we do that?

    • Melvin

That was done by their star Yelich no less.

    • DHud

      Out played.
      Out managed.
      Out classed.

MIL is just better top to bottom

  81. RedAlert

Never gonna win with this clown manager …. Has absolutely zero feel for flow of a game …. Never has , never will … one of the absolute worst strategical managers in the entire league

  82. Melvin

Some say the Reds players don’t play well against the Brewers because they play “tight”. On could argue our manager manages “tight” against them if you know what I mean.

    • Ted Alfred

It’s what I’ve been saying for a year. And this is why I don’t believe in David Bell. His teams play tight when the pressure goes up vs the Brewers… just like they do every August/ September when they are still in the playoff hunt. The Brewers are not a mortality team but they play Better Baseball and don’t make the boneheaded errors and mistakes that the Reds consistently make against them. I have no idea why would why you would bring in Sims there in a super high leverage situation when he has shown throughout his history he’s not good in that spot coming in in the middle of innings with runners on…while Cruz has been better in those spotsbut again David Bell does with David Bell does.

I really think the Reds should bring up Santillian and let Sims go.

      • RedAlert

I’m on board with this totally … Sims had had plenty of chances , plenty

  83. RedsgettingBetter

It’s tough to say but the Brewers are doing the things better than the Reds, that is the reason they are winning for

  84. RedAlert

Trade Lucas Soms for a bag of used batting practice balls if you can even get that

  85. Mark A Verticchio

Another problem is when this team gets up 3 – 0 they have to win, because they seldom if ever play add on.

  86. Redlegs1869

Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. In position to take series. Montas falters. Then Bell goes with the exact opposite pitcher that everyone knows he should. Hard to even blame Sims totally. It’s almost like Bell just randomly decides someone deserves a chance. What in his mind, or recent history, suggests to him that runners on in a tightrope situation mandates Sims? If he had gone with Cruz and he’d given up HR I think we fans would not blame him.

    • VaRedsFan

      It’s in his DNA.
He did it with Doolittle, Strickland, and a whole heard of other relievers.
After they show you that they can’t handle it, he doubles/triples down by keep using them in the same situations….expecting something different.
He has pet projects every year that he likes to give chances.

  87. RedsgettingBetter

The last run scored by the brewers in the 7th is weighing

  88. RedsMonk65

Steer, EDLC and Candy coming through today. Need some more….

  89. Melvin

Brewers defense is better than ours. No doubt about it.

  90. Mark A Verticchio

Pinch running for your hottest hitter is beyond dumb.

    • Harry Stoner

      Slapstick.

      Bell ‘managing’.

    • RED THUNDER

Watch Out for the Fan Club members after the game, fellows. That’s usually when
      they show up. lol

      • VaRedsFan

They don’t watch games…they look at box scores and draw conclusions.

  91. Votto4life

When Lucas Sims was being brought in I told my wife I was jumping in the shower to miss Adames 3 Run Home Run.

When I got of the shower my wife asked “Is this game a replay? How could you possibly know what was going to happen?”

  92. Melvin

India almost got him. Hard line drive to CF.

    • VaRedsFan

      rotten luck.
They get jam shot singles, and we get barrels all over the field that are caught.

    • Ted Alfred

Bsll was crushed on a liner…
      Bad mojo

  93. RedsgettingBetter

The Brewers are a lucky team. India can’t hit better that line drive… incredible…

    • Ted Alfred

I think the Brewers get more wins out of their talent than just about any organization in baseball year in and year out. When I watch them play I just don’t think they’re very talented…very average.

      • RedAlert

I agree – they are very lucky …not all that good

  94. Mark A Verticchio

9th inning down one 8, 9 and 1 if they get to 3 Bell should be fired on the spot.

    • Mike W

I like your thinking MAV — but this is Father’s Day, not Christmas.

    • Ted Alfred

It is truly mind-boggling that he actually did that. I would have been screaming at our 14U travel softball coach if he did that in that situation

  95. Melvin

Thank you VERY MUCH for that error. Scoring position now. 🙂

  96. RedAlert

Brewers ain’t all that … dudes are lucky as heck and have played a soft schedule … they gonna slide some when schedule toughens up

    • RedsMonk65

      … we say, year after year…. 😉

  97. Melvin

One out left to get the run in. Come on EDLC…..and they put him on…..Candelario is OUT of the game and now we’ve got Espinal. smh

  98. Harry Stoner

    Awesome.
Brewers walk EDLC to get to Candelario’s replacement.

    Bell Ball at it’s finest.

  99. DW

Should have our hottest hitter up right now, but Bell completely cleared the bench with all his brilliant moves. The Brewers still have a full bench to work with, by the way.

  100. RedsgettingBetter

Bell took Candy out for a pinch-runner but now that move is haunting

  101. Melvin

Bloop hit but Fairchild is out at home. Game over.

    • Indy Red Man

2 out hits and SF top 20 speed MLB. What in the world? At a restaurant for Father’s Day. Oh well.

    • Ted Alfred

It’s hard to believe you get thrown out at home from second base on a clear hit the center field with two outs when you’re running on contact

  102. RED THUNDER

He always panics in the 7th inning, uses everything

  103. Harry Stoner

Reds won Friday on a play at the plate and lose Sunday on a play at the plate.

  104. Mark A Verticchio

I just can’t believe he didn’t score on a bloop hit. He was looking back running to third. Regardless this game is on Bell 100%.

    • Melvin

There were two outs. If he was looking back there is no excuse for it. Should have been off at the crack of the bat. I hope he didn’t do that. That would be the WORST of bad fundamentals.

    • Ted Alfred

Yeah I just noticed that too. I’m not sure what Fairchild was doing there but there’s really no reason to be looking back to the center fielder with two outs…more fundamental mistakes that matter

      • Melvin

If that actually happened it’s inexcusable. The replay I just saw didn’t show his jump. I’d like to see another angle.

  105. VaRedsFan

How do you not score on a slow floater to the outfield with 2 outs.
I’d love to see a replay of Stuey’s jump on the hit.
    It wasn’t even close.

    • Mark A Verticchio

Poor jump and horrible base running, period. They need 2 of 3 in Pittsburgh and I don’t like their chances. They could come home 35 and 39 or worse 34 and 40. However 2 of 3 would put them at 36 and 38.

      • Ted Alfred

I just watched the replay again and it really is mind-boggling that Stuart Fairchild ever looked back at center field and isn’t aware enough in that situation to know that he is the tying run with two outs and he is off as fast as he can go with one Focus… to get to home plate as fast as possible regardless of where the ball is hit

  106. LDS

3rd place, a game and a half behind StL. Another Bell special. Bad roster construction and horrible field management.

  107. RedsgettingBetter

Impossible to win this game, the most blame is for Bell I think…. He mismanaged the pitching in the 6th inning…After that , replaced his best hitter in the 7th inning and he wouldn’t have a huge AB in the 9th…

  108. Harry Stoner

I thought Fairchild’s asset was his speed?

He’s right up there with Fraley for baserunning goof ups.

    Cue Bell mumbling excuses.

    • Daytonnati

Stuie is too busy working on his gum.

  109. Melvin

David Bell – “If we continue to play the way we did today we’re going to be just fine”.

David Bell – “I absolutely trust Lucas in that situation”.

    • Harry Stoner

So did the Brewers’ manager and Adames.

  110. Mark A Verticchio

I have a big question, When Marte comes back in another 9 games, will Bell platoon him? My bet is yes. I thought the biggest loss was Mclain, by far, best all around player. However the Marte loss and Freidl missing so much time early was huge. Strand and Williamson likely gone for the year, along with Mclain, means the division is lost to the Brewers, or even the dreaded Cardinals, a wild card is a long shot and that would be without Marte. The more you think about it the Reds should play hard and prepare for 2025. Hopefully everybody is healthy and Bell is gone.
