The Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies will get back at it tonight at Great American Ball Park in a match up featuring two Reds draft picks squaring off on the mound. The first place Reds will look to keep the good times rolling, while the Rockies will look to try and even the series up after dropping the opener last night. First pitch is set for 7:10pm ET.

Ben Lively

One of the more unexpected surprises for Cincinnati this season, Ben Lively has come up from the minors and pitched in the big leagues for the first time since 2019 – when he pitched in just one game – and has given the Reds a stable presence in the rotation.

Lively has shown reverse splits in the big leagues this season. Right-handed hitters are performing well against him, posting an OPS of .817 against him. Lefties are not doing so well, posting a .645 OPS against him. He isn’t walking much of either lefties or righties, and he’s got a quality rate of strikeouts against both as well. Righties have just been able to turn their contact into better results. So far this season managers are stacking the lineup with lefties against him and that’s played into Lively’s favor. Not shown below is that his ERA is 0.69 runs lower at home, and hitters have an OPS 130 points lower at Great American Ball Park against him than they do on the road.

Noah Davis

Not originally expected to start, Davis is stepping in to face off against the team that drafted him back in 2018 in the 11th round (he was traded in July of 2021 for Mychal Givens). It will be his first start in the big leagues since April 29th, and only his 4th start with the Rockies this season. He went on the injured list following that start in late April and missed a month. He made four starts in Triple-A and posted an 8.31 ERA in 13.0 innings upon his return.

This season left-handed hitters have crushed Davis between Triple-A and the big leagues. They are hitting .349 and slugging .667 against him. On the flip side of that, right-handed hitters have only been s0-so against him. They are hitting for a solid average and drawing walks at a good clip, but they aren’t hitting for any power at all against him.

Let’s hope when they finally get to the bottom of HG’s hip they don’t find something serious.

    • LDS

I always get nervous when Bell makes statements like he did on Greene. Hey, at least, Myers is gone.

      • Mark Moore

I’ve often wondered why the standing response isn’t, “Due to medical privacy laws, we won’t make any comments about PLAYER NAME HERE.”

Evasive comments are just ridiculous and don’t serve any good purpose.

    • LT

I hoped it is nothing as serious as what Lodolo has. Reds have tendency to understate the injury until it turns out to be a big problem like what happened with Lodolo.

  2. Mark Moore

Starting with a 1B mitt on somebody’s flipper … let’s see if fast-approaching footsteps force some misplaying.

5 of our Reds coming at it from the left side. May be a few souvenirs in the Moon Deck tonight. Maybe ELDC puts one in the Ohio River (or hits the Tundra sign, if not the Tundra itself).

Almost time to Kick This Pig!!!

  3. Jonathan Linn

I really like this lineup and starting 8. Looking good. Glad we don’t have to worry about Meyers taking Benson spot when he was cleared to play.

    • Mark Moore

I’m cautiously optimistic for tonight. And I’m right with you about the current Benson over Myers … by a wide margin.

  4. Mark A Verticchio

I think Phillips may need to skip AAA and move up asap. Truthfully, what choices do they have?

  5. Daytonnati

Phil on the pregame. I wonder if they put him on a 7-second delay, just in case.

  6. Indy Red Man

Maille has impressed me with some pop at the plate, but evidently Casali is some sort of pitcher whisperer. Surely they can put together some kind of minor trade for Maille.

  7. Soto

Gosh, I just ate dinner and turned at the TV and saw Phil on TV. I got the channel switched just before I lost my dinner. Wew! That was a close one. Someone let me know when he’s off and its safe to turn back to the game.

    • Jim Walker

What other channel are you going to watch??? 😉

  8. Harry Stoner

    Jurickson Barthelomeus Profar.

Now there’s a great baseball name.

  9. Mark Moore

Wow … anything traveling that far ought to have a stewardess on it 😮

  10. Dennis Westrick

OK Ladies & Gents! Buckle up! It’s time for the PT Barnum & DT Bell show!

Disappointed that Myers was not able to help the Reds! Had high hope for him! Time to move on!

Let’s continue to play well and win!

  11. Dennis Westrick

OK Mark! You are the resident umpire critique! How is the HP umpire so far?

    • Mark Moore

Haven’t really seen enough to judge yet. I’ll get back to you on it.

  12. Jim Walker

Try as he might Jake Fraley just couldn’t quite ignore the urge to turn and admire that blast. 😉

    • Mark Moore

He saw it right at the point of impact … nothing else to do. Kind of funny to watch him do that.

  13. Dennis Westrick

Lively’s 1st !inning was kind of a good news, bad news deal. HR – bad, but only 15 pitches! Really need Lively to go a minimum of 5 innings and preferably 6.

  14. Mark Moore

    Well … NUTS!!!

And Dennis, the Chumpire has been okay so far. One close one to MattyMc went our way. Not a whole lot of stuff on the borders yet.

    • Dennis Westrick

We got ’em right where we want them! Trailing early to set up another come-from-behind win!

  15. Beaufort Red

As anyone ever built up an at bat like Sadak only, to look like a fool when the batter doesn’t deliver. Recently it’s every EDLC at bar. I wish he was just capable of calling a game.

    • Mark Moore

Add it to the list of why I won’t listen to him unless absolutely forced to do so. He seems so enamored with his own vocabulary that he needs to use every possible word every game. Seems he’s worse with Larkin in the booth because Larkin tends to keep quiet. Welsh and Cowboy know how to shut him down a bit.

  16. Mark Moore

Definitely didn’t expect that from 4M. Thrall said he “motored” into second. I saw more lumbering.

  17. JB

I’m not sure why Moose would hold any bad feelings towards the Reds , Mr. Larkin. He made 64 million for being hurt and out of Shape and did nothing at the plate or in the field. If anything he should be thanking the Reds for over paying him.

    • Mark Moore

4M slumped away with a fat wallet. Enough said. If Barry says anything else, then he’s clueless as to how things work.

      • Harry Stoner

Getting DFA-ed in the middle of a big contact has got to sting the ego a bit no matter how fat the wallet cushion.

I imagine Myers is feeling some of that right now.

        It’s certainly not his fault he’s hitting sub-Mendoza. 😉

  18. SR

Might be time to move Edlc out of the 4 spot. He might be trying to do too much. We have other options. Just move him down a spot or two until he gets more comfortable.

    • Mark Moore

Perhaps. He doesn’t seem quite as selective as when he first came up.

    • Dennis Westrick

I made that same suggestion over a week ago and got strafed on this site!

  19. Mark Moore

Dennis – on that AB, strike 2 was almost the exact same spot as was called a ball on MattyMc. Both appeared to be strikes. Both were on the outside sight line.

  20. Indy Red Man

Great ump tonight! That 3-1 to McLain hit the target on tv, but appeared to go around the corner with the pitchers movement

    • Mark Moore

He’s been fairly consistent tonight from what I’m seeing. Small sample size and all, 😛

  21. Old-school

    Patience grasshoppers

    This team is different

    • Mike Adams

Feeling like a sensei tonight, Old School? Just kidding oh wise one

  22. Indy Red Man

GABP special for the good guys

    • Harry Stoner

Well the Rockies play in a stadium with a Martian atmosphere and legal herb.

GASP isn’t the only ‘home field advantage’.

  23. Mark Moore

Show bunt … and then BOOM goes the dynamite. Walk to Casali paid huge dividends for us.

  24. Melvin

Was that Friedl HR JB? What do you think about him?

    • JB

He isn’t happy that I’m letting Votto drive the bandwagon now.

      • Melvin

haha But is he still L…What’s that word again?

  25. Dennis Westrick

Why do the Reds always seem to struggle with opposing starting pitchers with ERAs north of 6,00?

    • Dennis Westrick

And, as I was typing my comment above, Friedl slams a 3-run homer! Maybe I jinxed Davis?

  26. VaRedsFan

    TJ….bangs one!!
    3 run variety.

  27. Mark Moore

Did MattyMc hesitate just a little as he went into the slide?

It was a spot on throw. Give Diaz that much credit.

    • Matt McWax

He seemed to lose a bit of speed a few steps before the slide.

      • Mark Moore

        Thanks. That’s what I thought I saw.

  28. Mark Moore

On tonight’s HP Chumpire … other than completely missing that call on India (that went our way), he’s been pretty consistent. Not a lot of stuff on the margins yet to challenge him.

  29. LT

It seems these guys just take turn to have big hits. Unbelievable

  30. Harry Stoner

Coco Montes sounds like the name of a classic ‘50s Havana big band leader.

    • Mark Moore

“The Copacabana presents Coco Montes and his Havana Bananas for your listening pleasure. Feel free to get up and dance.”

    • Daytonnati

I’m having George Grande flashbacks … “Co Co Cordero” …

  31. VaRedsFan

    9 game win streak.
    Votto back.
    Electric rookies.

    stadium half full…maybe 60%

    • Old-school

      Im going this weekend.

Braves reds will set attendance records this weekend

  32. old-school

Fraley is 3rd on the team in HR, leads the team in RBI and tied for the lead in stolen bases and just hustles and ran down that ball in the gap. Might be time for the Fraley doubters to step back a bit. Hes really important to this outfield . No ..he cant hit lefties but he can do everything else.

  33. Mark Moore

Throw to the wrong side of the bag.

  34. Harry Stoner

Casali must be getting some Karcher flashbacks catching Lively.

  35. Mark Moore

Give them a chance with two 2-out walks … not a good approach.

Focus on Diaz right here, right now.

  36. Dennis Westrick

Here we go with the WALKS! Both with TWO outs!

  37. Indy Red Man

Lively needs to contain their B team lineup. I forgot about Cron being out too. No Bryant or Blackmon. Catching them at the right time! Sweep is very important with Atlanta on deck

  38. JB

Stoudt pitched 1.2 innings tonight and didn’t look good.

  39. Kevin H

What a great time to be a Reds fan

  40. Mark Moore

Wrist flick GABP special. Not everybody can do that. Build back some confidence for ELDC.

  41. GPod

Elly gets a rare fastball above the belt….may not see another one for a while

    • VaRedsFan

      That’s the first thing I noticed…Up a little…belted

  42. Indy Red Man

Elly 2 bases, Reds race to 5, Reds win

Please no rainout or rain shortened please

  43. Dennis Westrick

OK! EDLC can stay in the 4 spot!

  44. Kevin H

Good to see Elly go opposite field

  45. Dennis Westrick

OK Lively! You have a 3 run lead! Protect it! NO MORE WALKS! Please!

  46. Indy Red Man

GABP gives guys like Freidl and Stephenson power they wouldn’t have and maybe a lot of cheapies Elly wouldn’t get. Might fit this squad better then any. Joey used to hit specials to left in his prime, but Dunn & Jr didn’t need shorter fences

  47. Old-school

Spencer Steer just hits the ball hard

  48. VaRedsFan

    Loving some Steer….
Went for heavy damage on the 1 strike pitch.
With 2 strikes, stayed back and drove it to the oppo gap.

  49. Mark Moore

If I were to buy one of those telethon packages, I’d choose Steer as my 1st choice for the autographed item.

  50. Kevin H

This offense is becoming more and more potent. I do think adding CES is the last piece for this team.

Then trade prospects for pitching help. I don’t see trading any offense players as their chemistry in my opinion is just too tight right now.

    • Harry Stoner

As long as Marte is off the table…..I’d like to see how the Reds do against ATL and BLT pitching before more confidence in the offense really settles in.

      • Kevin H

Great point and I agree about Marte.

  51. Mark Moore

Cement mixers have a way of finding those seats, no?

  52. old-school

Lively has been a solid #5. We just dont have a 4 or 3. I do think ashcraft will come back after a refocus respite and be a good #3 again. Abbott has been great obviously. The Greene injury blows this thing up.

    • Indy Red Man

Not in June he hasn’t…and this is KC and a depleted Rockies lineup. He’s all we have left currently though

  53. Kevin H

OOO ball four could of been strike 3. Lively struggling this evening

  54. Mark Moore

Well … the Chumpire had been doing well … until THAT call.

    • Mark Moore

But, all is forgotten. Now to play a little more add on.

  55. SlippinJimmy

And we don’t use the automated balls and strikes system because… ?

    • Mark Moore

Don’t ask … you really don’t want to know … and there is no good answer in my book.

  56. Harry Stoner

Lively pitching around a sub .150 hitter.

  57. Dennis Westrick

I’ve seen enough of Lively! He just walked the No.9 hitter, with 2 outs, who’s hitting .143! Good grief!

    • Harry Stoner

I’ll feel better if the Reds score another 5-6 runs.

    • Kevin H

I agree 4 walks, and only a matter of time before Rockies cash in on those walks

    • old-school

Except he threw a strike called a ball.

  58. Old-school

3 more outs and Lively did great again. Maybe we won the Lively for Marlon Byrd trade finally.

    • Kevin H

Oh that is right, I forgot about that trade. Lively went to Phillies correct?

    • Harry Stoner

      I enjoyed Byrds’ brief tenure.
Whatever happened to the “Stephen Johnson” the Reds got for MB.

  59. JB

Homers are going to happen at GABP. Keeping them to solo shots is the key.

  60. Indy Red Man

I know you’ve all been waiting for the Lorenzen report..lol

    6 ip, 1 run, 7 Ks tonight

    • Dennis Westrick

Where is he pitching these days?

    • Old-school

You nailed that Indy. make it happen. Even MLB traderumors said Lorenzen would be a cheap acquisition for the reds.

Where are you on the Duvall Sims trade? Duvall ahead still but Sims narrowing.

      • Indy Red Man

I don’t think Duvall was going to make it here

      • Harry Stoner

I never understood how the Reds let the Wisler half of that trade go.

    • Dennis Westrick

I miss ol’ Mikey Biceps! He played a mean outfield as well!

  61. Dennis Westrick

As usual, with Lively’s pitch count efficiency of 20 pitches per inning, he may get thru 5 innings! Gotta do better young man!

Of course, the 4 walks don’t help!

    • Kevin H

Bell brings in Young 3rd day in a row. LOL

Who am I to judge lol

  62. Dennis Westrick

Good move by Bell unfortunately! Lively was his own worst enemy!

  63. SR

Ben Lively could be Bronson Arroyo’s little brother. Wish he could give us innings like Arroyo used to.

  64. Old-school

    Pirates down 2 again

Cubs starting pitching may be the biggest threat in NL. They are waking up

    • Dennis Westrick

Yep! Stroman has turned back the clock to his Blue jay days!

  65. Dennis Westrick

Dirty Birds are heating up! Of course they are playing the woeful Nats!

  66. Soto

Freidl, Elly, Fraley, Steer… The young guns are roughing up the Rockies.

  67. Mark Moore

I know I’m piling on 4M, but he looks lost over at 1B. Lost, lazy, and not very mobile.

    • Dennis Westrick

Be nice Mark! We all have our bad days!

  68. Mark Moore

A pair of botched pick-off moves to 2nd? Couldn’t draw that one up in advance.

    • Dennis Westrick

We’ll take it! All runs count!

    • Harry Stoner

Dude had 3Ks and 3Es in one inning.

      Has that ever happened?

  69. Kevin H

Wow another pick off error from the pitcher. Not sure if I have ever seen that

  70. VaRedsFan

3 throwing errors in the inning by the pitcher.
    Is that a record?

  71. Dennis Westrick

Need a couple of solid innings from Cruz!

  72. Riverfront Randy

Glancing at the current OBPs in the boxscore:
    373 / 370 / 355 / 368 / 357 / 429 / 362 / 364 / curt casali
That is just outstanding. No easy outs.

  73. old-school

Anyone got a problem with EDLC at 3b McLain SS and India 2b rest of the year? I think it’s working. Mix it up a bit sure with Elly at SS 2-3 days a week but I dont think Reds are awful with India at 2b and McLain at SS

    • Mark Moore

I’m in with that. You still have options to give them some relief 1x per week. It’s solid defense and they seem to “play nice with each other”.

  74. Mark Moore

Bike helmets and a K … that’s the way to get it done.

  75. Indy Red Man

Pressure yes, but Fraley got picked off. He also got thrown out by 10 feet the other day. I hope Bell is on top of that stuff. Aggressive vs reckless

  76. Mark Moore

Benson says he wants a piece of this tonight!

  77. Dennis Westrick

You all know I have to comment on the leadoff walk issued by Cruz! Fortunately he was redeemed by the DP!

    OH! I HATE WALKS!

    • Harry Stoner

      5 of them tonight.

      It ain’t over.

There’s an angry Moose out there.

Reds still need another 3-4 runs tonight.

  78. Old-school

    Geez,,,we need starting pitching.

Im claiming victory and just realized still need 9 outs….

Hope Krall figures that starting pitching cheat code out soon

  79. Dennis Westrick

Solid inning by Duarte! Thank you! Maybe one more!

  80. Melvin

We’re well on our way to 10 wins in a row. This team is fun to watch. 🙂

  81. Moon

I think I have a man crush on ELDC…love watching the young man play

  82. Dennis Westrick

EDLC is a nightmare for opposing teams!

  83. Mark Moore

The over-slide that comes with that speed catches up with him

    • Riverfront Randy

Was it an overslide? Looks like the 3B just rammed him off.

    • SlippinJimmy

He needs a spear on his oven mit to spear the bag.

      • SlippinJimmy

Or better yet, some sort of grappling device which he extracts from his utility belt… as if he were some sort of… superhero…

  84. Optimist

Only on Gamecast – was that an Elly TOOTBLAN?

    • Old-school

      No…he was safe..

Third baseman fell on him and knocked off base and not sure even tagged. idont know how a fielder can physically push a player off the base once hes safe and he is then called out after fielder falls and pushes him off.

Elly never would have been out if he wasnt tackled off the base

    • Daytonnati

He was safe but momentum carried him off the bag where the 3rd baseman made the tag.

    • VaRedsFan

As his unprotected hand was on 3rd, it looked like to me it got stepped on, then forcing him off. All inadvertent.

  85. Dennis Westrick

Bad baserunning by EDLC there? NEVER make the first out at 3rd! He’s young and I love his enthusiasm! But, you gotta be smart on the baseball field at all times!

    • VaRedsFan

except he was safe until he was stepped on, forced off.

  86. Old-school

    Elly was safe at third.

He as then tackled off the base by a falling third baseman after he established himself safe.

  87. Old-school

    Elly was safe at third.

He as then tackled off the base by a falling third baseman after he established himself safe.

    • Dennis Westrick

That won’t happen when he puts on more weight! Just kidding!

  88. Indy Red Man

Arraez for the Fish with 3 five hit games in June.

Anyone remember the last Red with 5 hits in a game….I think?

    • VaRedsFan

The record for a season is 4.
I think Ichiro has done it.

      • Indy Red Man

I think our last one was Max Schrock with 3-3 off Stroman of all people

    • Daytonnati

I remember Pete went 5-5 against Gaylord Perry.

    • old-school

Phil Ervin in Coors Field against a terrible lefty starter with a home ERa of 9.

  89. VaRedsFan

Jones is the 2nd coming of Todd Helton.
    Good player.

  90. Dennis Westrick

Bell is just plain hard-headed! Why not Duarte for 2 innings? He only thru 9 pitches for Pete’s sake!

    • SteveAReno

He needs to be interviewed about this strategy and why. Either Cruz or Duarte can throw more pitches.

  91. MBS

Benson is killing it for the Reds at the plate. I like that Bell moved him to LF for now. I still think he’s a RF, but he needs to settle down a bit in the field. I think a lot of his mistakes are by trying to do too much. Playing LF should take a bit of stress away.

  92. Riverfront Randy

Is Bell getting paid by the pitching change this season?

  93. Melvin

8-2 lead in the eighth and walking a batter Dennis. Calm down.

    • Melvin

…and of course the walk scores on an HR.

  94. Dennis Westrick

Another WALK by Reds pitching! That’s 6 so far tonight!

  95. Old-school

Biggest Tuesday non opening day crowd in 5 years

  96. Dennis Westrick

Can’t make it easy can we?

  97. Mark Moore

It’s not out of hand … but it’s headed that way fast if we don’t shut them down.

  98. Indy Red Man

    Welfare check on Dennis please

  99. Dennis Westrick

    7 WALKS but who’s counting?

  100. Reddawg2012

This team is going to give up 30+ runs this weekend against the Braves.

    • Indy Red Man

Better study those scouting reports on Thursday. It doesn’t look too hopeful though

  101. Mark Moore

    Alright, alright, alright, ALRIGHT!!!!

Add a run or two and then nail it down in the 9th with 3 quick outs. Then celebrate like we just won 10 in a row.

    • Daytonnati

Is that anything like “partying like it’s 1999?”

      • Mark Moore

I’d prefer like 1990, but I’ll take what we get.

I wish coach would allow our middle relievers to pitch more than one inning or 9 or 13 pitches! Especially when they are doing well. Fernando Cruz didn’t allow a hit. Same for Duarte.

    • Dennis Westrick

100% with you on that wish!

    • Kevin H

Then they would be burned up foe the next game.

      • J

Ended up burning Diaz for at least the next game. This is why you try to get two innings out of Cruise and/or Duarte when they’re sailing along.

  103. Optimist

Who is pitching the 9th? I get conserving Young, a lefty, but he’s a former starter. He can certainly go 3-4 innings in a game like this.

  104. SlippinJimmy

I mean we gotta win, but can’t Sims do the 9th? I just worry he’s gonna burn Diaz out. Plus the Braves are comin up…

  105. RedsGettingBetter

The only available from BP “A” is Ian Gibaut

  106. Indy Red Man

Nail this one down and sweep tomorrow afternoon then off Thursday which will help out!

  107. Mark Moore

Get Grichuk cold as a PH’er. That’s a good thing.

  108. Optimist

I dunno. Do they have analytics and medical data showing 25 pitches a day has no adverse effects? We’re going back to the Ted Abernathy/Wayne Granger era.

    • David

      Dear Abby and Wayne Granger.
Granger pitched in 90 games in 1969.

  109. Mark Moore

Find a way to get Jones here. Don’t let him bring it close.

    • Mark Moore

      NOT like that.

Warm up the paddles for Dennis.

  110. Dennis Westrick

Travesty that Bell has to use Diaz in this game! His refusal to use a RP for more than one inning apiece tonight is why we are seeing Diaz! I want to win but they are gonna burn Diaz out!

  111. Melvin

I didn’t like letting that runner take second so easily.

  112. Mark Moore

Now things are getting out of hand. Really need a pair of bike helmets. But don’t give in to Diaz.

  113. Melvin

We need Chapman. Diaz will be worn out.

    • MBS

Yes please, and grab Barlow to, they want to trade them as a pair, and our pen would be fortified for a deep run.

    • SlippinJimmy

Yes, completely agree. David Bell is gonna turn this kid’s arm into spaghetti.

  114. Melvin

I don’t want Diaz at the all star game. He needs the rest.

    • Dennis Westrick

+1,000! Even though Diaz deserves an All-Star spot, he needs an extended rest!

  115. Mark Moore

OK. Just you and the hitter. Make 4M go down looking silly.

  116. Melvin

Oooh boy Dennis. Another walk to Moose no less. Bases loaded.

    • Dennis Westrick

That’s NINE (9) walks! But, again, who’s counting! If they play like this against the Bravos it will not be pretty!

      • Melvin

It’s like nine extra hits…but we won tonight. 🙂

  117. RedsMonk65

Well, that was a little too close for comfort. But we’ll take it. 10 in a row!

  118. Mark Moore

Switched to the TV audio feed just in time to hear Sadak proclaim us the hottest team in baseball.

Gutted it out for his 20th save. Really wish he could get a significant rest. Have to figure he’s not available tomorrow and then Thursday is an off day.

I’ve forgotten what a long win streak feels like.

    Great being with y’all tonight.

  119. Harry Stoner

    That was a rough one.

    Good game for ELDC.

    • Harry Stoner

      Ugh. EDLC.

      Jones had an evening.

CO got him for a 20 y.o. SS prospect.

      Krall take note.

  120. David

    Hello fun seekers!

10th straight win. I think this team is ready for anything.
Brewers losing to D-backs 5-3, but a rally is on in the bottom of the 7th inning.

    • Harry Stoner

The big kids are getting out of school this weekend.

  121. Redsvol

sheesh, couldn’t Cruz or Duarte just have been given the opportunity to close that game out. Why do we have to risk the chance of Diaz blowing his elbow out. These 1 inning outings for rested relievers like Duarte are getting ridiculous.

    • Mark Moore

The recurring “fault” most of us have with HDTBell.

      • Harry Stoner

Someone from the press needs to ask him about it.

Legit question, and one a lot of fans would be asking.

Bell would be wise to spell it out.

  122. Mark Moore

Post-game show is JAMMED with fans.

  123. Ron S

Bell needs to learn to ride a reliever until he gets in trouble.I thinks its in the rulebook a relief pitcher can pitch more than one inning.

  124. Steve Schoenbaechler

My only concern. . .we need to get pitchers healthy, BADLY, especially our starters. For, because of the starters we have to use, I’m afraid we are going to burn out our relievers.

I’m already worried about Bell and his “bullpen management”, too many examples to refer to. I think he may use “The Force”.

I don’t want the starters back “too early” and risk worse injury. Just get better. I just hope it’s sooner than later.

I mean, some of these pitchers, we haven’t seen for well over a season. Just what’s going on (anyone hear from Vlad lately? Tony? Tejay? Others?)? That wouldn’t be on Bell necessarily. I would doubt it’s Johnson. So, I’m looking at the medical staff, the trainers, etc. Maybe the coaches pushing them to return too early.
