Mike Minor

After missing the first two months of the season, Mike Minor returned for June and he’s struggled in his first four starts, giving up seven home runs and allowed 16 runs in 20.2 innings. His splits aren’t of too much value given the sample size, but right-handed hitters are basically MVP-caliber hitters against him this season through a month of games. Lefties aren’t getting a bunch of hits against him, but when they do they’re hitting for power.

Logan Webb

The splits for Logan Webb are pretty big so far this season. Left-handed hitters have a near 100 point advantage in on-base percentage and a 167 point advantage in slugging when compared to righties. Right-handed hitters don’t hit against Logan Webb and they don’t walk, either.

Reds pick up catcher Michael Papierski

The Reds claimed catcher Michael Papierski on waivers after the San Francisco Giants designated him for assignment last weekend. They then optioned him to Triple-A Louisville. You can read more about the move and Papierski from our article earlier today.

Last year the Reds had 2 of the top 5 lefty hitters in baseball against righties in Winker and Votto. What a difference a year makes. Winker is gone

Only 2 lefties in the line up against a righty.
Votto turns 39 and declining rapidly.
Moose turns 34 and is done.
Naquin is hurt every other day and a FA in 4 months.

Where are the Reds next generation of lefty hitters? No one in AAA.
Alex McGarry just arrived in AA. Looks promising. Elly is OPS’ing over 1.000 against Righties in A+. Thats it. No other lefty thumpers in the entire organization.

That might be my focus at the trade deadline. Get a lefty thumper young OF.

  2. Magnum 44

I’m sorry I can handle losing, but I can’t handle Mike Minor it’s about of exciting as watching pea pods plucked

  3. Dennis Westrick

Mike Minor has been/is a MAJOR disappointment! Every time I see a spark of good things to come (pitching gem by GA last night) the Reds run out a washed pitcher who couldn’t stick with the Braves who know a thing about good pitchers (Glavin, Maddox, Smoltz, etc.). Not expecting much tonight from the SP or bullpen but stranger things have happened.

  4. RedsFan11

    Suarez 30yr 11.25M
    Winker 28yr 7.5M

    Mike Minor 34yr 10M
    Tommy Pham 34yr 7.5M

Congrats Bobby on saving that change

    • LDS

I still think moving Suarez and Winker was a good move. The return was lousy. And Minor & Pham isn’t a great pickup. That’s an example of why Krall trading Castillo or Mahle isn’t something I’m looking forward to.

    • DataDumpster

That in a nutshell is the nonsense of this “aligning payroll to resources.” Probably Minor and Pham will both be traded and anyone else who is marketable that we acquired (Drury, Almora et al.) plus Mahle and Castillo. Meanwhile, the Reds got some decent returns and the players traded away (Miley, Suarez, Winker, Gray) have been mediocre and/or injured. The result is the Reds have gone from a outfielder and a few reliable bullpen arms contender to a team that will need a good fight to finished ahead of the lowly Pirates. What happened…David Bell.
P.S. Great effort last night by Ashcraft and some welcomed good play by Senzel and the Moose. That cupboard isn’t bare but sorely needs to be opened more often.

  5. Kevin H

Schrock is a left handed bat not playing today. Why, and while I realize some like him more than others. IF Webb struggles against left handed batters, then why isn’t Schrock playing?

Also, you noticed it seems like other managers just play there top 9 guys no matter a left or right handed pitcher out there. Bell won’t do that. annoying!!

    • Mark Moore

Remember DTBell is WAY smarter than anyone else about these things, especially smarter than a bunch of us fans on a fan forum chat site.

And they love playing for him … LOVE it. Don’t forget that.

      (sarcasm font off)

  6. Roger garrett

Big park so hopefully Senzel can run down a few.Was worried that Drury would not be back tonight. He has earned that spot and hope last night was just a day off.Shrock needs to play but I guess he is going to keep going out for coffee and doughnuts.Been a good time to get another lefty bat out there against Webb.Lets hope he gets a shot later in the game and drives in the winning run.Pham back out there tonight after 0-4 last night. Not sure he will bring much back in a trade any wayRight now starting pitching will draw the most interest

    • Mark Moore

It’s likely he’ll get the chance with Minor on the bump

  7. Kevin H

Jesse Winker starting to heat up for Seattle. Reds could sure use him. I do like the Drury pick up as well as Solano. Solano is a career 280 hitter and Drury has had a good season. I still rather have Winker in lf than Pham.

Also I still believe Barnhart is a better catcher than Garcia, and I do wish Okey would just play to see if he is the back up answer going forward.

  8. Bet on Red

really completely do not understand why moose is out there yet again. Even if Schrock is not supposed to have the spot, then there is still Solano. Noone is trading anything for Moose.

  9. Joe P.

Entering play today, the Reds have the same record both at home and on the road: 12-23.

    • Mark Moore

That’s just plain sad, especially for the GABP record.

    • Roger garrett

Consistent in being bad.If you script your lineup and pen usage you should get the same results.Maybe just maybe trying a different script may help produce a consistent betterm record.

  10. Mark Moore

Cowboy, “They love Tommy in San Francisco”

    🙂

    • Mark Moore

Thrall, “He’s got a lot of fans in Oracle Park”

  11. Moon

When the Reds got hit by a cement truck coming out of the gate I have not been concerned with wins and loses but watching guys that will be on the team in a couple years when the next window opens for them to be competitive. I look at tonights lineup and there is not much that interests me. I do not see many players that will be on the Reds in 2024 besides India.

    • Mark Moore

      +10,000

Same here. The “retread express” isn’t what I want to see. I’d be far better with the losses if we weren’t trotting out 3M or Pham every stinking night.

  12. JB

Reds fielders won’t be bored today. Minor will keep them busy.

    • Mark Moore

I wouldn’t bet against that, JB

  13. Magnum 44

There are guys you want too root for I loved Winker Pham not so much, but if your saying your poor don’t sell off all your fancy stuff off then try to show me your fake Rolex and say your getting back on your feet.

    • Mark Moore

      +5,000

We are the “fake Rolex” of MLB this year. And Phil is doing a poor Kevin Nealon imitation of trying to retract and recover his false statements. Or, if you’re old enough, maybe a poor Martin Short playing attorney Nathan Thurm.

      Pathetic excuse for MLB ownership.

  14. Mark Moore

    Third and First???

We caught a pretty big break on that. Joc should be on Second.

    • Mark Moore

Worked to our favor. Minor better give to the Old Umpire’s Retirement Home fund after that.

    • Mark Moore

      +500

Nick had a solid outing Thursday evening.

  15. MK

Justin Dunn sighting in Dayton for rehab start tomorrow.

  16. Old-school

    Sorry guys.

Joey Votto turns 39 in September.
    He is done

    There’s no Superman coming back.

Great great player but hes replacement level.

    • Kevin H

No!!!!! I refuse to believe that, seriously though seems like his age is showing doesn’t it..

    • Mark Moore

Sadly, he is just that. He should be at DH, but he’s “blocked” by 3M. That would have been a much better way for him to ride off into the sunset IMO.

      • VaRedsFan

What does the H stand for in DH?

    • LDS

He should really retire. He’s likely hurting his HOF chances. Recency bias is a big deal. Odds are he has lost his first ballot opportunity.

  17. Bet on Red

Well with that walk i am forced to issue a retraction of my earlier statement on Moose

  18. Old-school

    Longoria butchers a 5-4-3 DP

Sadak with the fielders choice error

    Never heard of that.

    • Mark Moore

Reason #753 why I listen to the WLW audio overlay. He’s beyond ridiculous. And nobody is reigning him in.

    • Mark Moore

First read on the scoreboard was “hit” according to Thrall/Cowboy. They were more than a little surprised until it was switched to an error.

  19. Roger Garrett

Yep on Joey but I am with him until his contract expires Reds already messed up his going his retirement watch by not having him as their full time DH.Feel sorry that he won’t make it to the World Series.Hope he just doesn’t totally fall off the cliff the rest of the year or even next year.

  20. Mark Moore

3M rumbling in from 2nd on a flair to RF? Is this Bizarro World? If so, maybe Minor can settle in and pitch a gem tonight.

  21. LDS

Senzel with an RBI in two consecutive games? I guess the freeze warning below has been extended.

    • Kevin H

He is a good Baseball Player… Hopefully this is a hot streak to where he can show why he was drafted by Reds

  22. Roger Garrett

Moose is drinking the kool aid so give me some.Senzel again and they all look like line drives.

    • Mark Moore

He completely went with that pitch. It’s what he needs to do and skip any pursuit of HR power. He’s an elite athlete who knows the game and should play within his strengths. He’s fun to watch when stuff like this happens.

  23. Roger Garrett

Was diagnosed with bell’s palsy yesterday so my spelling is awful along with a little bit of face and eye drooping.Wife says I look a little like Popeye.Should be better in 2 or 3 months.Taking tons of pills that all are making me loopy to go along with being droopy.Sight to see for sure but God has it and we will go forward.

    • Old-school

Sorry roger- sounds like you hit it early though so hopefully ok in a bit.

      Love reading your posts.

    • Mark Moore

Wishing you a full recovery, Roger. You’re among friends here. Thanks for sharing your personal challenge.

    • JB

Friend at work had it years ago. It does take a bit to go away. Hang in there and get healthy.

    • VaRedsFan

Ride it out and come back strong. Here’s for a quick recovery Roger.

    • Bill J

Roger, my wife had Bell’s Palsy a few years back and got along fine, although on real old days in winter she feels some effects. Will pray for you.

  24. Old-school

Pham with serious style points in LF standing like a statue as Minor got jacked to LF

    • JB

Lol noticed that. Minor had him running enough. He said to heck with it.

  25. VaRedsFan

Is it me, or does Longoria homer in every game vs. the Reds?

  26. Mark Moore

So much for the “big park” tonight. Minor looking more like a BP pitcher … and by that I mean Batting Practice.

  27. Roger Garrett

Memo to Minor-Got to keep it in the big part of the park.Pham is here for the numbers and to slap people.Doubt if styling and profiling helps him at all at the deadline.

    • Indy Red Man

Pete Rose was 10000% percent about his numbers. Thats overrated. If your numbers are good then you’re helping the team.

      • Chris

That’s ridiculous. You are only telling half of the Rose story there. He was all about winning, and would give himself up at any cause to help win a game.

  28. Magnum 44

I don’t even get mad at Votto he has earned his money he could go 0 for the rest of his life, but Mike Minor needs to

  29. Mark A Verticchio

Mike Minor is a waste of time and money, just eat his contract.

    • Votto4life

When someone says but It’s not Nick Krall’s fault I just point to Mike Minor as exhibit A. Bob Castellini is cheap, but Minor’s signing is 100% on Nick Krall.

      • Kevin H

Minor signing to me is a slap in the face to Reds fans. They had Sonny Grey and Wade Miley. Both better than Minor

  30. Old-school

I would go with a 6 man SP rotation till the As break

Bring back Lodolo and let him build his innings up and give Greene some time to figure out his plan. Cut Castillo and Mahle starts by 1 or 2 to build their value.

DFA Minor at As Break and use the next month to extend the innings and rest for Ashcraft/Lodolo/Greene.

    • Indy Red Man

Good idea! If they won’t eat MInor’s contract then just use him vs lefties.

  31. Indy Red Man

Agree completely with the comment from yesterday that Senzel needs to play in a big park somewhere. You can’t have a guy with no power in your lineup at Gabp because the OF can play a little shallow because most of the stuff over their head is in the seats anyway. Big park though and he’s got hope.

    • Old-school

It’s amazing how different players fail or succeed by ballpark.

Senzel would be a good cf 9 hole hitter in SF
Mahle would be an Allstar pitching there.

Minor would still be a bad pitcher in Chattanooga.

  32. Mark Moore

Somebody help me out here. It’s under 400′ to CF here. That’s less than GABP. I know there is that 415′ “notch” in RCF, but the lines seem pretty short overall. I’m not sure I understand how this is a “big park” while we’re a “band box” park. I know the Bay weather plays into it to an extent.

Just curious. If we shoot some out, it won’t really matter much, will it?

    • Indy Red Man

Yeah but they’re like 399 in left-center and 420 to deep right-center. Huge wall in RF too. Plus its the way the ball carries. Evidently rivers affect the ball less then oceans, but I’m no geologist

      • Roger Garrett

Right when I said it was big park I should have said in the power alleys.Looks like both homers were pulled to left so that plays normal to most parks.

  33. Votto4life

My favorite ballpark to watch a game but boy does it sure get cold when the fog comes rolling in.

  34. Roger Garrett

Thanks to all for the good wishes.Love you guys and your posts. We don’t always agree but we all share the same passion. We probably are the last of the lot that feels the way we do cause we have to be a little loco to follow the Reds.We will never give up and thats what makes this site so neat.Great writers that put up with us as well.None better then the Nation.Go Reds.Could you imagine how good Mahle would be in this park or Castillo or any of our starters?

    • Indy Red Man

The few. The proud. The old. Mostly anyway)))

    • Votto4life

That’s why like Giasman and Wood goes there and find success.

I agree Roger this blog is the bomb. The Reds may not realize it, but when we are gone what do they have left? Hope you feel better soon my friend.

Life can turn on a dime. My fiancé and I are getting married this fall she found out last week she has liver disease. Never drank in her life. Doesn’t smoke or even eat red meat. Life doesn’t make sense sometimes. Hope you feel better soon Roger.

      • JB

Hope it’s not to serious brother. Get well soon to her and congrats to you both on wedding.

      • Indy Red Man

I’m sorry man. I’m starting to experience illness and death in my family and its hard. Actually death is preferable to being completely helpless and diminished imo, but modern medicine keeps them clinging on.

      • Roger Garrett

Praying for her.I know at times I don’t sound like a Christian but back in 2016 I had colon cancer and went through 6 surgeries in 22 months, was told I have would have to wear a bag for the rest of my life but God stepped in and when the surgeon did #6 he said I don’t know what happened but I just connected your colon and it went right back together and there was no evidence anywhere of the first 5 surgeries. All things are possible with God.He changed my life forever and I teach and preach all about what he has done in my life and I have the scars to prove it.God is good all the time.Again praying for you lady.

      • Votto4life

Thank you Roger and Indy. I really appreciate you guys!

  35. VaRedsFan

So if I’m the pitching coach, I tell Minor that the ump is calling strikes to righties 2 inches off the outside corner.

Maybe it was told to Minor and he just doesn’t have the talent yo do it.

    or

he could just continue to try to pitch inside and get POUNDED.

  36. Mark Moore

I’m thinking this is a good time to take a little break and go for my evening walk. Temps are finally settling down, so it should be a little more comfortable.

4-1 seems like a HUGE lead, especially with Minor still throwing BP.

  37. Indy Red Man

Well I’m then Minor takes me out. Ben Lively just went on 7 day IL, but he needs to replace MInor asap. Minor sucks. You have 13 pitchers so go with an opener and have a bullpen day instead of just letting Minor give games away.

Another sad note. The umps are way better in Korean baseball then ours. Less ego. No sense of entitlement, etc

    • Votto4life

Krall is going to insist they keep running Minor out their to justify the $7.5 million dollars that he wasted on him.

  38. Roger Garrett

Minor goes 0-2 and walks the lead off hitter just when I was going to say at least the homers were solo. Now he is in trouble. If the Braves let him go and you know they know pitching that should have been a red flag and for us to give him 10 mil that is just dumb even if it was a one year deal. Not sure who did that deal but WOW you can be assured they will run him out there to try and justify it.

  39. Indy Red Man

So the Reds will be 1-4 in Minor’s starts. 9 Hrs allowed in 23 innings and an era over a touchdown. The 1 win he allowed 4 in 6.1 vs Arizona which is one of the worst offenses in baseball. Cut this clown loose

  40. Joe P.

I’m not a pitching coach, but it looks to me like Mike Minor’s stride to the plate is too long for a guy that needs to sink the ball.

  41. JB

Well guys if you want to be depressed go look at the Free Agent outfielders in 2023 and 2024. It’s not pretty. They really need to get an outfielder in a trade for Castillo or Mahle. Hopefully one in AAA that is ready to come up.

    • Indy Red Man

I think Ian Happ is a FA in 2024. Thats the kind of guy we could afford

      • JB

Be was the only one on there but you have to remember, he won’t be hitting Reds pitching.

    • VaRedsFan

They could save money for the next year or 2 until Aaron Judge is a FA.
      *hiccup*

      • JB

Haha I just went past him because there is no way Bob is signing him.

    • Greenfield Red

Absolutely not. No major league ready talent. Kiss of death. Have you learned nothing from the Jocketty years?

Teams do not trade cheap major league ready talent unless they are way overrated (Lamb, Finnegan, Rookie Davis, and more) or hopelessly hurt. Does the name Dilson Herrera ring a bell??

Must only trade for very young high end talent. 17 – 21. 2 or 3 years away.
      Period.

  42. Dennis Westrick

Typical Minor outing so far! 4 runs allowed thru 3 innings, one walk and 2 HRs! Gotta keep that ERA north of 7.00. Looks like an early exit for our ace!

  43. Mark A Verticchio

How in the world did Krall not know what he was getting with Minor? As someone said, Krall is also big part of the problem. I would say he is the worst G.M. in baseball hands down.

    • Votto4life

The sad part is Krall had to cut payroll in order to make the deal for Minor. I think Bob gave him a figure and told him he could sign anyone he wants as long as it was a one year deal and the costs were offset. So wanting to make his “mark” on the team, he dealt players like Winker, Suarez and Gray just so he could turn around and sign guys like Mike Minor.

When people give Krall a pass, it drives me crazy. He may not control the purse strings, but Krall is definitely part of the problem. The same can be said for David Bell and Derek Johnson. There is a lot of blame to go around.

  44. Bet on Red

Moose on base twice? what is this

  45. Old-school

    Tap the breaks on Almora

That was a horrific at bat

1st and 3rd 1 out and a tapper to the pitcher?

    Oof

    • Indy Red Man

6th doubleplay for AAJ. Not good for 125 at-bats. The more you study the Reds the worse they look in almost every facet

RLN acts like Stephenson is Mike Piazza. He’s good, but he mostly just punches the ball to RF. We’re just searching for stars

      • Roger Garrett

Yeah a lot of that is true and to be honest TY Steve and India are the only two we have that may and I say may start on half of the other teams in baseball. We have done very poorly in developing players and by chance we do they have to wait until they can walk on water in the minors.

      • VaRedsFan

Piazza no….Joe Mauer-like ceiling would be awesome though.

      • Indy Red Man

What I’m saying is an .825 is a good start, but its not exactly young Johnny Bench part 2

      • Indy Red Man

Joe Mauer…..nice call! I forgot about him. I could see that with Stephenson!

  46. Mark

Minor needs to just go!!!!! Tired of his pathetic efforts every 5th day. Lodolo needs to be in the rotation again asap

  47. Mark A Verticchio

Almora would be a good 4th or 5th outfielder for defense, he is not a starter.

    • Roger Garrett

Right but we settle for average players and thats ok if you have some that are above average and we don’t.I like Almora and agree he isn’t is a starter but I can watch him the rest of this year but I also want to see Schrock some as well. That dude can hit.

  48. Dennis Westrick

Leadoff walk to start the bottom of the 4th! How much more damage is Bell gonna allow! I thought the object of being a MLB manager is managing to win the game! Oh, I forgot, gotta wait until Minor gives up enough runs that Bell’s horrific bullpen decisions won’t matter!

    • Mark A Verticchio

Dennis, I think like me your old enough to realize that this once proud organization doesn’t deserve to be run by Davis Bell. He may be a nice guy and his players may like him but those are not qualifications for a good manager.

      • Dennis Westrick

You are right Mark! Just hard to show unconditional support for this current Reds team after living thru the Big Red Machine years, 1990 team and all the other winning teams!

  49. VaRedsFan

So with right center about 500 feet deep, why was Minor trying to pitch inside to righties anyway?? Pitch them away, and it at least might stay in the park. Poor game planning.
    But I’m no pitching coach.

  50. Moon

India gets more hit by pitches more than any other player I have ever watched.

    • VaRedsFan

I think Shin Soo Choo got hit like 20 times as a Reds. But he nver tried to get out of the way…India tries to avoid it….it appears

  51. LDS

Wow, take a dinner break leading 1-0. Come back trailing by 4. Another spectacular outing by Minor.

  52. Moon

MInor may have one more inning left. He has been consistently bad all game. He got bailed out of the first inning when Ruf hit into a double play. But the Giants have scored in every other inning.

  53. Indy Red Man

3 Hrs and counting in SF….lol. Minor couldn’t pitch in KCs largest park in mlb so why would he suddenly improve with us?

  54. Mark Moore

Back from my walk. Nice to have the quiet of the neighborhood. Stepped through the door to my wife saying RoY got HBP again … but then Drury didn’t produce.

If 4-1 seemed like a huge lead, 6-1 seems insurmountable tonight.

Time to tune in something else and put this game on the far back burner for the evening. I’m a glutton for punishment, so I’ll be back at it tomorrow.

    • Mark Moore

Oh, and for those who may (or may not) care, it was cedar-planked salmon tonight 🙂

      • JB

I was wondering but I didn’t want to ask. I love salmon.

      • Mark Moore

JB – cedar planks over charcoal. A little glaze of my wife’s own design. Never anything left over, that’s for sure.

      • Dennis Westrick

Hate salmon and don’t like Bell

      • Old-school

Blackened salmon and mowed the yard.
        Probably the right move.

  55. Roger Garrett

We had no chance tonight unless Webb was just as awful as Minor and that wasn’t the case.Minor can’t pitch middle of the plate and in at the waist against any major league hitter. He has to pitch away away away and away and down and make them roll over trying to pull it or hit in the air to the big part of the park.My gut says he knows that and can’t do that cause he has been around awhile.Nobody is looking to take him at the deadline.I would DFA him or use him out of the pen against lefties only. That is the only way he adds anything to the Reds.

  56. Stoney

That’s right Bell. Let’s keep running minor out there. No reason to try winning games at this point. A loss every time he goes out there. Pathetic. Great job Krall and Bell.

  57. Eddie

Thank goodness I didn’t watch it today minor sucks and yet still out there. This team goes from winning last night to chock badly. Blue Jay’s called reds today for Castillo even the Mets interested wonder who will win and what crap of return we get with nick kill running now

  58. JB

Minor reminds me of Jason Marquis in 2015. He was just as horrible and Reds DFA’D him.

    • Dennis Westrick

      Can’t DFA Minor soon enough!

  59. Joe P.

If Joc Pederson is going to be slapped, it should be for wearing those ugly shoes.

  60. Roger Garrett

Reds can always try the DL for awhile to kind of save face as an option. His agent must have done back flips when the Reds offered him 10 mil.WOW JUST WOW Hard to fathom why we would do that. That had to be a knee jerk decision by somebody unless Bob was asleep in the board room when that idea went around the room.

  61. Roger Garrett

Pen will need to cover 3 innings tonight and thankfully the game is already over so I am out of here.Go Reds.

  62. JB

Solomon doesn’t walk the first batter but does the second. Obviously a slow learner.

  63. JohnnyTV

I’m late to the party and see there is a lot of well-understood Minor bashing.

Letting Miley walk for roughly the same money makes zero sense, and Mr. Sheldon or someone in the Cincinnati press needs to ask Bull Krall that question straight up.

And a follow up: why not sign Jonny Beisbol for about half of what they’re paying Minor?

Bell, for all his inadequacies, has to be in the clubhouse with these guys and needs to walk a much finer political line.

Bull Krall has no such excuse.

Why isn’t he being asked the hard questions?

Particularly in advance of possibly / probably unloading 2 or the 3 even moderately dependable starters in the rotation.

    Jagielo, Renda, Davis, Cotham.

I wish it were the names of a high-power law firm.

More like actors in a failed TV sitcom pilot.

    Zero confidence in the Bull.

    • LDS

Bell doesn’t have to walk any line behind closed doors. He’s the manager and needs to start acting like it since we’re stuck with him in perpetuity (or at least it seems like it). Start holding folks accountable for lousy performance and put them on the bench. If he’s incapable or unwilling, then resign or get fired.

    • Votto4life

Which member of the Cincinnati media ask hard questions? They all seem afraid if they offend the Castellinis they will of the Christmas card list. Can you imagine if this team played in a place like New York or Philadelphia? The writers would be ripping Castellini every, single day.

No, we get writers like Charlie Goldschmidt who might as well be on the Red’s payroll.

      • LDS

Like I’ve posted previously, it’s one thing to fail. It’s another thing entirely to fail repeatedly and change nothing at any level. That is the very definition of a dysfunctional organization.

  64. Dennis Westrick

Walks, walks, walks! Why can’t the Reds BP pitchers come in and throw strikes or at least pitch to contact?

    • JohnnyTV

This has been an issue for years and appears completely unaddressed by coaching and manager.

      A systemic, institutional issue.

I’d have a stack of preprinted fines in the dugout.

If you walk the first batter (or second) when you get to the dugout: here you go, chump.

  65. Old-school

Mowed the yard and back and left the volume on.

it’s 9-1 and SADAK STILL SCREAMING

    MUTE.

    • Joe P.

      Sadak: “Deeeeep left center field!”

  66. Mark Moore

Well, I do believe I’m calling Clete after that bomb.

    Catch you all tomorrow.

  67. Mark Moore

Thrall and Cowboy are “taking a break” by talking food in the upcoming cities. Frankly, I don’t blame them.

Oh, and there was something about “ask the Moose” where you could ask any question. If we’re talking 3M, I’d like to ask how he can, in good conscience, take that barrel of money and not show up in shape or seem to give a ?*#! most of the time?

    Rant over – I’m really done now … 🙂

  68. Old-school

    1 run 2 hits

No lefty hitters in this lineup

Votto is 0-3 with a sub .700 OPS

    It’s July Folks.

    • JB

Giants have more homers than we have hits! That’s not good.

  69. Doc

Solomon might be their most consistent reliever. Comes up, gives up a bunch, goes back down. Comes back up gives up a bunch, goes back down. Rinse and repeat.

  70. Dennis Westrick

Both batters walked by Solomon scored ahead of the 2-out HR! Imagine that!

  71. Joe P.

The announcers said that Jared Solomon changed his delivery. I have to wonder how bad was it compared to what he’s using now? That’s not a good delivery.

    • JohnnyTV

      That’s a 100+ loss team, big fella…..;-)

      • Old-school

I was told a month ago no they werent

No one would take that bet

      • JB

        I would have. I said 59- 103. I might be to nice.

  72. LDS

Reynolds hitting for India. Little league time. Everyone plays.

  73. JohnnyTV

    “Reds late rally falls short.”

  74. Old-school

Uh-oh. A shrock sighting and a hit against a lefty,

Thats not good for the moose Dh narrative.

    BencH him for a week.

  75. JohnnyTV

    Curious factotum.
For all Moose’s sad display this season, he is sporting the 4th highest OBP of his career.
Only a smidgeon off his career best.

    Interested teams take note!

    • JB

Can you fax that to all the other teams? Don’t let the Reds know, they might give him an extension

  76. Dennis Westrick

Total clown show! And Pennywise is running amok in the FO!

  77. JohnnyTV

Before all the border troubles got so bad, we used to go over to Nuevo Laredo
pretty regularly to see Mexican League games.

    Los Tecolotes.

The game was of minor importance.
Great food. Great beer. Circus jugglers. Motorcycle stunt riders. Lucha Libre stars.
    Rodeo charros.
    You name it.
    They had elephants one time.

Who won? Nobody seemed to ever care.
    Kids were having a blast.
    Grandmas were having a blast.

Castellinis and Reds could learn a lot.

Field a craxxy team? No worries.
    Bring on the sideshows.

    • Tom Diesman

Maybe that’s why they signed Pham!

      • JohnnyTV

Well….setting up TP to ‘box’ with his fantasy rival on 2nd base during the 7th inning stretch would be the kind of spectacle I’d get behind.

        Though I abhor fisticuffs.

“Just put some bleachers out in the sun and have it out on Highway 61.”

        Still holds true.

  78. AMDG

    At least Minor is consistent.
    5 outings. 5 bad starts.

If nothing else, those of us who thought he was a terrible acquisition have been vindicated thus far by his pitching.

  79. Old-school

Unbelievable how bad this team is..
Kyle Farmer is a 5 hole hitter?

Even the most diehard Farmer fan clans with Granny burner accounts have to acknowledge he is not an MLB 5 hole hitter. Right?

    Granny burner accounts?

  80. Roger Garrett

Had to take a peak just now and see Drury went deep and we went little league style so everyone plays.Saw were Schrock got a hit against a lefty when he hit for Pham guess Bell messed that up,Dude should have started in left for Pham to begin with against the righty.Tired of this stuff, tired of Pham, tired of Bell and tired of myself.Gone now for sure but back for more punishment tomorrow.Yeah Old-school Farmer in the 5 hole kind of says what you said.Oh yeah what on earth happened with Garcia being thrown out at second trying to stretch a single down 8 runs? This team is just well little league seems to fit.Starts at the top doesn’t it.

    • Dennis Westrick

Little league team, little league results! At least everyone receives a trophy, right?

  81. Doc4uk

Moose will be packaged with Castillo . That will limit return on Castillo to decent but not top 10 prospect.

  82. William

Fire the GM. I agree with Votto4life.

  83. William

Yes, Farmer is one of the better hitters on a terrible team. No criticism of Farmer who can play on any good team as a super utility man. I am a fan of his. Love Votto. He might want to consider retirement.
