The Cincinnati Reds (48-42) will kick-off the second half of the season tonight at 7:10 PM against the Milwaukee Brewers (53-39). The two teams will continue their 7-game marathon series around the all-star break as the series switches to Great American Ballpark tonight. The Reds enter play 4.0 games behind the Brewers for first place in the NL Central. The Reds 9-2 record in July is the best record in all of baseball. The Reds are 33-14 vs the NL Central since September 13, 2020.
Jesse Winker on the second half pennant race and starting off with Milwaukee: "This is why you play baseball." #Reds

Brewers since May 27th:
1-6 vs the Reds
28-8 vs everyone else
The weather forecast in the Cincinnati area does not look great this evening. A rain delay should probably be expected, and there is a possibility this game ends up being postponed.
Starting Pitchers
The Reds have decided to give the ball to Tyler Mahle to kick off the second half and the massive series with the Brewers. Honestly, the Reds could have gone with any of Mahle, Castillo, Gray or Miley in this series, in any order and felt good. Mahle has carried over his big step in 2020 into the 2021 season. The even better news is that his expected stats say that he has been even better than he deserves. Mahle leads the Reds in both expected ERA and xwOBA, which are good signs for future success.
Mahle has a 3.00 ERA in 2 starts against the Brewers this season (12.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 6 BB, 18 K). Mahle has however struggled at GABP this season. He has a 6.06 ERA in 7 starts (compared to a 2.26 ERA in 11 road starts).
The Brewers have decided to throw Adrian Houser in the first game of this series. Houser is a solid pitcher, but the Reds have definitely caught a break as they won’t face all three of the Brewers top arms this weekend (Woodruff will pitch tomorrow, Burnes on Sunday). Both Peralta and Burnes pitched in the All-Star game, so the Brewers had no way to pitch both of them this weekend without pitching one of them on three days rest. They obviously didn’t throw that many pitches in the All-Star Game, but the Brewers have been very conservative with their starting pitchers so far this season, so it’s not surprise they continue to do so. It has paid off for them so far as they are in first place in the division, but they have allowed the Reds to hang around.
Houser has a career 5.25 ERA in 7 starts (10 appearances) against the Reds. Hoser’s last start was the Brewers lone win in the 4-game series against the Reds. Houser had a lot of traffic in his 4.1 innings (4 walks, 5 hits), but the Reds could not make him pay until he left the game. The Reds took the lead off the Brewers bullpen, but the Reds bullpen could not hold it that night.

Michael Lorenzen returns
Michael Lorenzen if officially back in the Reds bullpen. He has a career 3.57 ERA as a relief pitcher, so he is certainly a welcome sign back. It took Lorenzen a little bit of time to get going in 2020, so we should probably be patient with him returning after a long recovery.
Michael Lorenzen says he doesn't want to be eased into anything for the bullpen. "I'm ready to roll." #Reds

Creating a spot on the 40-man roster came at the expense of Alex Blandino, who was transferred to the 60-day injured list.
News and Notes
Lucas Sims and Tejay Antone could be ready at the beginning of August
Manager David Bell provided injury updates on just about everyone in his afternoon press conference with the media today. Among the players discussed were relievers Lucas Sims and Tejay Antone, both of whom Bell noted were progressing and would hopefully be ready at the beginning of August. He also provided some updates on Nick Senzel, Art Warren, and Michael Feliz.
A 6-man rotation?
With Jeff Hoffman due to return soon, Bell mentioned that the team could put him into the rotation this home stand in order to give everyone a bit longer of a “break”. That would temporarily give the team a 6-man rotation as they begin the second half of the season.
Conclusion
This is what you want as a Reds fan. Your team has made it to the second half of the season in contention. They have a golden opportunity to cut more into the Brewers lead to increase their chances of hanging around all season. Sit back and enjoy this Reds fans.
Let’s roll.
“Lets — Go” to paraphrase Castellanos
Are they expecting the start of the game to be delayed?
Gawd, I hate weather.
TV?
MLB.tv (online or tv app) is showing 10 free games this Friday including the Reds. I’m not sure if you just need a sign in account or not. I have a subscription so I’m always signed in. I don’t have ESPN but watched the homerun derby on MLB online.
Great preview Nick.
Jesse Winker said it all.
The logic of a 6-man rotation escapes me. The rotation has been adequate so far. The bullpen is the weakness. One would think that any “excess capacity” would be used to shore up the bullpen. But then Bell is a “baseball genius”. How can anyone question his management.
Everyone is worried about innings after the short season last year, but we have experienced guys unlike Milwaukee. Miley, Gray, and Castillo have done this before.
I think it’s just a single spot start intending to skip a day right before the 3 pitchers going in this series, go again, and extra little bit of 2nd stretch break for them … may be a potential alignment (like getting Miley off a matchup so Barnhart skips a LHP) against the Mets at play also
Absolutely love this website, but wish there was a way to filter out the silly anti-Bell comments that make absolutely zero sense. He deserves some criticism, as all managers do, but geez. Oh well, I will wade through the crud to keep reading the good stuff. Great game preview! Go Reds!
Are you a WKU grad by chance? If so, what year if I may ask?
Yes – 1999
Couldn’t agree with you more. There are certain people on here that just won’t leave it alone. I have already tuned out some because they add little if anything.
I feel the same way about the group of people who keep posting that Votto should retire. It ain’t gonna happen so move on.
Ditto people who can’t appreciate that the BP is evolving and improving.
Ditto people who keep posting possible acquisitions or trades with no apparent thought given to ripple ramifications.
Great break that the schedule has this game at home, think the crowd will be electric tonight. Hopefully, it will factor. Shucks about the weather but what can you do
Updated forecast looks like things might go a bit north.
Let’s play ball against the Brewers and see what happens.
Ive got tickets for Sunday
Go Reds.
The Reds have seen Houser 3 times already and have great numbers against him. They’ve seen Mahle twice, but really didn’t do anything against him either time. Last game he walked a bunch of guys and couldn’t field a dribbler with the bases loaded. Otherwise he’s dominated them! Era’s are about the same, but Mahle is the better pitcher! It would be awesome to start off with a 8-3 laugher!
This series scares me though. They’ll want payback after going 1-6 in Milwaukee vs the Reds and Wong adds alot to their lineup.
Phillies won game 1 of DH
Archies Bradley gets the win and 4-1 with a 3.4 ERA
Good start for Mahle. Now for crooked numbers. Let the fun begin!
Reds need to make a statement right here in the first inning.Go Reds.
That loud enough, Roger? 🙂
best 1st inning by Mahle in a while
Yes! Reds up 2-0!
attaboy Naquin… Votto as well for getting on base
Christian yellich turns 30 in December
Hes owed $182 million thru 2029
Hes hitting .240 with 5 HR and 24 RBI
Lorenzo cain opted out last year
Hes injured this year making $18 million and gets $18 million more in 2022.
I dont see the brewers breaking the bank at the deadline trading their prospects
This division is their for the taking
Plus, Yelich has no arm!
I’m on their blog quite a bit. They’re only 21st in payroll.
44% of their payroll goes to yellich and cain now and next year
SP and hader huge raises next year and yellich and cain still owed $46 mil 2022
They arent trading crown jewel future prospects to add payroll for 2021 or they are done for the next 6 years
and if there is a poster child for someone who doesn’t have it tonight, Houser is it.
AS break didn’t help the umps as they blew it big time on that pitch to Geno
Nope. They still can’t find the zone with both hands an a lighted map.
That’s the way to start it, guys.
Oh, and India HBP … when I told my wife, she just chuckled. Got to lead in something, right?
Beginning not to like Garcia.
That ain’t nice.
Oops … bit of a cement mixer there, Tyler.
IDK what Mahle’s doing vs righties? His slider is rarely any good?
I guess I don’t understand some of unwritten rules of pitching. Righties can’t throw splitters to righties and lefties can’t throw changeups to lefties. If thats your pitch then isn’t execution more important then getting beat with your 3rd-4th best pitch?
I guess someone forgot to tell Mike Scott or Bruce Sutter. They got everyone out with splitters
All I know (and that’s not much) is I saw a pitch with a predictable arc that Garcia hammered. Almost like Crash telling the guy Nuke was throwing a curve.
Can we get a bunt down? We have to be the worst bunting team in mlb over the last 5 years.
As usual. Absolutely the worst
Terrible bunt. Just whiff and move on to India.
Perhaps reds gets a SS AFTER the trade deadline july 31
Galvis coming back from injury and has zero trade value for Orioles
When orioles angels marlins mail it in and expose SS to waivers , Reds then pick up an extra piece for nothing
A healthy galvis farmer platoon would be ok
Iglesias better
this is very true. Saw an article calling for the reds to look for Rasiel when the angels pack it in this year, maybe work out something with the angels to get both Iglesias’s back
+100
Why bunt? No outs and guy on second. Top of order coming up. Swing away because the pitchers cant bunt and its failed at least a 1000 times this year. So stupid.
I heard that!!! No excuse for all the bunting we do. I agree. It’s stupid.
NUTS!!!
Bullet up the middle! That was good to see atleast from Wink. He gets into pull/rollover mode and that shift just eats him up!
100.3 mph
Looks like Cubs fire sale has started. Sent Joc Pederson to the Braves!
First of many to come.
Maybe the Reds can scarf up Baez on a good deal. That would help with the division run.
No thank you….He has more K’s than Geno
Yeah, I still like Story better. But that’s not going to happen either.
word from MLBTR is that they are going to attempt extensions with Rizzo and Baez before jettisoning them. Bryant and Kimbrel are as good as gone
@dennis
Not up to me but if the money us close,Bryant and Rizzo would be the ones I would be willing to pay.
This Yelich is more Shogo and less Yelich of 2018. Walking like vintage Joey is about to end imo. Word is out that, when in doubt, just throw him a heater down the middle because he’s not going to hurt you with it.
I love Mahle and his tough nature and if he ever consistently limits his pitches well look out.Maybe as someone said a few days ago its GABP that causes him to nibble more then he needs to.
I thought nick was going to take on council himself, funny Nick Krall had a moment there thinking Nick was hurt
Suarez has not produced an out in the “second half” go get them
+500
That’s the Geno we love. Crooked Numbers!!
Geno comes through. 4-1 Reds!
Naquin having a nice little resurgence — factored in both scoring rallies.
Aquino in for Castellanos. Hope he’s OK. Worrisome …..
I’m with you … We need that man to be healthy.
Wow. That 1-2 pitch to Geno was a Sonny style backup fb that looked like it got the corner. Human umps giveth and taketh away. He walked the first time on an obvious strike. Geno will take it! We need him to be confident and put up a big 2nd half!
+1000
Nick C pulled.
Please be just a 1 game thing.
AA replaces Castellanos after being HBP. Hopefully just precautionary.
I’m about sick of these hbp? WE NEED PAYBACK!!!
Problem is we play 1-2 run games every night. We need to get up 9-2 or whatever then let Hendrix plant one in Yelich’s ribs or Garcia. Enough is enough
We get 20 times for everytime we plunk someone??
Stupid Brewers
Reds need to pile it on heavy. Make a statement
I would like Mahle a lot better if he would stop with the walks!
I don’t consider him wuality until he can consistently drop his pitch per inning from 20 to 15 per inning. He’s a drag on the BP at present.
Just to point out, that while of course we hope its just the rest of the game, We can replace Nick with someone like Aquino which is a quality bat himself
No he is not a quality bat. You don’t replace MVP type of guys with Aquino
Exactly.
So you’d rather see Scott Heineman than Aquino?
Thats not what he said. He said AA is a quality bat and over .900 ops says he’s correct
i was not implying that Aquino = Castillanios, just saying that Aquino is alright…. its not like they pur freeman out there
Oops … Winker pulls a Yellich
Winker doing his Yelich impersonation
Winter is a boneheaded player – don’t get me wrong I like him , but his baseball IQ IS atrocious !
Winker
The whole team’s baseball IQ on the basepaths is atrocious! And our 3rd base coach is questionable at best!
Joey passed on his worst baserunner in the NL title to Wink. What a good teammate))) Wink is absolutely horrible! That has to get fixed!
I didn’t like that, but I did like the hustle getting down the line. He needs a base running intensive training by Barry Larkin.
Adam Duvall at 32 is available with his .270 OBP for the Marlins – trade winker.
Josh Van Meter is hitting .188 for the Dbacks- trade winker
Phil ervin is hitting .195 for the Gwinnett braves AAA team as a benchwarmer- trade Winker
All 3 players were RLN favorites who needed extensions or to play everyday
Winker is an all star with warts
Unless Frank Robinson is available… best LF since Adam Dunn … who had flaws too
No. I don’t take stupid baserunning as a wart. Being slow is a wart. Baserunning is just having your head in the game.
He’s no Manny Ramirez. Wink sucks vs lhp for instance. Manny doing idiotic stuff is one thing, but he crushed everything they threw up there.
Omg…..what a cheap adjective hr?? Thats ridiculous.
A GABP special
Mahle can’t stand prosperity – own worst enemy .
Pitch efficiency is AWFUL !
And the guy has great stuff – just puzzling
5 ip and 1 run in every park but gabp and probably Yankee Stadium
This will not be easy, apparently.
Get them runs back, this half inning men.
Mahle has no offspeed stuff tonight? Adames is a fastball hitter and that’s mostly what Mahle is dealing tonight.
He’s more of a flyball pitcher which is why his era sucks at gabp. Vlad is too and that will probably be a problem for him moving forward.
I never thought of Mahle as a fly ball pitcher, so I looked up his numbers to see.
Ground Ball % 45.4
Fly Ball % 26.3
Line Drive % 20.8
Pop Up % 7.5
So we’re not behind yet, but do we still fire it back up in the 6th inning?
Four hits in 5 turns at bat will not get it done.Got to score some more.
Now they are afraid of Geno and I like it.
Got a ball called a strike, then a strike called a ball, either way Geno is on 1B
Make that 3B, that a boy Tucker
Suarez still hasn’t made an out this half umpire prob gave him the 2nd strike on ball 4…. allowed Barnhart to get a run back though
also, the under was obviously a poor decision today
Never bet Mahle under at Home
Tucker comes through again.
He really has had a pretty nice season and defensively he is just top notch.
Who is this guy wearing number 7? He hits, he walks, he looks like Geno … maybe the break did him good. Certainly the crappy strike zone is helping.
And then he alertly takes 3rd on the Tucker hit.
Crooked numbers!
Tuck!!! Absolutely clutch all year!!
The real Incredible Hulk is warming up in the pen
3 run bomb and then Mikey Biceps can figure out who gets to wear 98 in their ribs for the Brew Crew. I want extreme bruising and possible IL. Eye for the 14 eyes they’ve already taken. My God….India is way off the plate and gets drilled constantly??
Looks familiar! Mahle at 90+ pitches thru 5 innings! Hope the bullpen is ready!
They are trying to let him get to 6 innings it looks like.
he bats first bottom 6, the idea is not to burn a pitcher to get to his batting spot
Playing with fire now keeping Mahle in –
Imagine that! The batter that Mahle walked scored, again!
Gifting the game away – pathetic
1-2 on Peterson and walks him. Thats Mahle’s biggest issue. Otherwise he pitched well. That 2 run hr was bovine excrement. If a ball isn’t a hr in Single A then it shouldn’t be a hr in the big leagues. F- to the engineers of mediocre American smallpark
Dude just not efficient and walks too many people – every game almost same script
+100 – can’t stand prosperity in the form of a 4-1 lead!
+100
oh india
Tie game. Buckle up. (Still like our chances, though)
E4
I have been quiet on Bell for awhile and I am a big Mahle fan but after the walk you have to go and get him.I will leave it at that and move on.
+100
Was typing the same general comment and my internet had a momentary glitch!
Alright AG now back to back leftys
Pitiful – gift wrapping entire game
India error
Mahle sucks
Winker sucks
Trade them all
Thats RLN appraisal of young talent.
If we only had Adam Duvall and Scooter Gennett and Phil Ervin and josh Van Meter back – reds would be 8 games ahead in NL central
That made me laugh…
Rats
My comment on Bell was that I know he is trying to get Mahle through 6 and everybody knows that in the park and every where else.Just saw no need right there to go on with Mahle.
He has zero feel for game flow – been a problem whole year
PAINFUL!!!!
It’s good that Bell is letting the pitchers throw more pitches. But maybe a quicker hook when the pitcher is on the high side of his pitch count and let’s a runner on. And AG just can’t be consistent it seems. Lights out one night and arsonist the next.
Warm up DooHomer
Unfortunately the bad AG showed up tonight! Can’t believe we squandered a 4-1 lead!
I thought Bell was going with Mikey there with the lead. Now we’re back into their strengths
That cheap 2 run hr turned the whole game around
That is why we can’t catch the Brewers. One batter too late on Mahle an error and Garrett can’t get either lefty out.Plenty of blame to go around in that inning.
Where is Norm Charlton or Dibs when you need them. Charlton would hit a guy in the ribs and then run over their catcher later just for fun!
Somebody on Brewers needs to wear one !!! SICK OF THIS CRAP !
70 HBP … not really the stat you want to be leading the league in.
Winker doesn’t do Shogo any favors….
Now the ump wakes up and calls that a strike
I’m listening on radio and I don’t think the Cowboy is very happy with Jesse Winker, feels like he didn’t do anything to offer any protection to Akiyama on that attempted steal.
no, that was center center cut, Winker just stared at it
Wink should have swung — distract/disrupt the throw.
Aquino, do what you are known for
Can the Punisher be patient enough to clock one?
He’s helpless against a good slider from a righty. Alot of guys don’t have one. I would like to see him play more, but thats his weakness.
Kind of like Brach just got for strike 2 on Garcia
base stealers need to slide head first IMO. Akiyama probably out either way. Their pitcher didn’t cut off the throw down like AG did.. ..that had to help.
Tucker bounced it on the SS side. Even if AG had gotten out of the way, Bradley makes it.
Had no line of sight. TB is 5 foot tall and AG is 7 foot tall. They teach you at 13 to get down on a steal attempt. AG didn’t get the memo
Sit down hot dog Adames !
Point well made, Indy. Got to give Tuck a clear shot at it.
Reds dont have 1 legitimate lefty reliever. Amir Garrett 2hits 1 run in 2/3 of an inning against lefties??? Hes a loogie who cant get 3 outs against mostly lefties
When do the Reds finally admit
1.) they have no left handed relief pitchers?
2.) Amir Garrett is no better than his peers- sal Romano and Robert Stephenson and Cody Reed?
Amir Garrett isnt an MLB pitcher
His 6.75 ERA isnt a fluke or an accident
It’s probably the 3rd biggest weakness this pen has. 1 no closer, 2 no setup man, 3 no (Good) lefty
I agree with you mostly, but I think AG could pitch somewhere on a good staff. I think the 3 batter minimum hammered guys like him though.
Tonite was just a chopper for a hit and then a groundball directly to SS by Wong, but the Reds shifted Milwaukee into the lead for some reason. Farmer was over by the bag? He’s throwing 95 and sliders away so not a big shocker that Wong hit it where he did.
Lets hold them and see if we can come back against their best.
AA needs to take advantage of these opportunities. These situations are a chance to demonstrate he’s a viable RF candidate if Castellanos opts out. Maybe he’ll get better but his time is now.
Right. He either produces or he gets the chance to be an eternal journeyman somewhere else (or in Japan/Korea)
A “lights out” inning for Brach, which only goes to show that you can never tell beforehand what you might get from the bullpen.
Like Forrest Gump’s “box of chocolates.”
+250 (a favorite movie)
OK, friends. If you need a pick-me-up right now (and you know you do), go to the Reds FB page and check out the video of Liam Castellanos seeing the shirts he designed for Nick on sale in the Reds Team Shop.
https://fb.watch/6NYnHurauI/
It’s priceless!
Aquino cant recognize a ball from a strike . Thats hitting 101
Suarez cant either this year
First rule of pitching is throw strikes
First rule of hitting is dont swing at balls . Aquino has no pitch recognition against Righties with a slider . No way the the Reds can sign up for Suarez light version 2.0 in RF
Alright … I’m thinking that’s it for me. I know we have 2 innings, but they’ve got most of 2 innings to do more damage as well. It’s not our night apparently. Certainly not a night for cement mixers out over the plate.
You just knew it was coming. They saw the soft tosser a bunch last weekend and they remembered.
Lefty relievers strike again
Lets just finish the deal and bring in Doolittle and Perez
Ballgame – served it on a platter and gift wrapped this entire game
Bell day late and a dollar short …..
ok, assuming that that HR is the only Run that Osich gives up, I want to see Tony S. Pitch in relief in the 8th. Leave Mikey for tomorrow.
Yes, a great time to get Santillan his 1st appearance out of the pen.
Jose Barrero is taking off like a bottle rocket! HR in the Allstar, and 1 in each of the 2 games since, and both games multi hit games!
Awful way to start the second half but we still have 2 more.Just would like to think we should have got this one.
Wong…classic example of how to hit lefties….last 2 trips
Now the good news is that when Hendrix pitches .1 of an inning he usually gets the win lol
The Vulture
Yelich is 0-4 and reds give up 7 to the Brewers and counting
This was a winnable game.
Bullpen still stinks
No way this bullpen as constructed wins anything
Have zero confidence they will make any moves to address this or anything else at deadline – wish I was wrong !
Bunch of hot air coming from front office
Sorry
Give up 11 and 3 runs on wold pitches
Bullpen is fine
I honestly can’t believe we haven’t plunked them yet. 3 Hit batters today, plus Suarez getting plunked by Hader in the last game. Next inning Garcia should be wary.
Agree. Our bullpen does not throw inside for whatever reason. Down four or five runs it is okay to hit one of them after they have hit one third of the Reds team.
For the Radio and Gameday people, NICK C. sighted, no brace or wrapping on his arm. Does not look like he is in pain. No word from Reds Org.
Thats why all I week I led my bullpen rants with something about cringing when Osich, etc came into the game. They were on the scrap heap for a reason when the Reds got them. Didn’t I see Lorenzen warm up 2 hours ago?
Not a good start to the 2nd half. I thought today’s game was the “easiest” of the three. Instead it looks like batting practice for the worst hitting team in the league
Getting out of hand now…
All we have heard about for weeks, is, Lorenzen is coming back, but no sighting in a game that they should be winning. I know there have been some DB support recently, but I do not understand the absence of ML when, seemingly, everyone has been waiting for him. he could have not done any worse that what has been run out the tonight.
Just start evening the HBP score at this point.
The guys he brought in are the same ones that did a great job the last 3 weeks. Mike Lorenzen is entitled to nothing
I do not see any entitlement in my comment. I believe it says he could not have done any worse in tonight’s game..
You can say that about any pitcher that hasn’t pitched tonight. Why change what has been working is what I’m asking?
Well counting the games before the break into a best of 7 series we are still leading the series 3-2. Got to get into damage control mode. Force there good pitchers to pitch alot of pitches and go get them tomorrow with….or just let them score all the runs today… really bad day for the under
I hate to kick a guy when he’s down, but I’ll give you a little tough love as a veteran gambler.
Mahle sucks at home and the Reds numbers are off the charts vs Houser. Always check the pitcher on ESPN and “batter vs pitcher” to see how those hitters do against that pitcher.
no your right, and the amount in question was not alot. thanks for the Advice
Noted that above. Never take Mahle under at home.
We can’t win them all is all i’m going to say.. Some big mental mistakes and defense hurt us tonight.
top of the 8th 10 to 5 Brewers… We still have a chance but we don’t have our super hero to save us tonight
Blandino and Schrock injuries to bite us. Who is going to pitch the 9th? A rainout at this stage would be a welcome development. Tomorrow is another day.
JB cannot get in the game himself for pitching. Specially after the break.
BP just played bad tonight.
Another game where Bell’s “pitcher-an-inning” decision didn’t work! Brach pitched a perfect 7th inning with 14 pitches! So why can’t he pitch the next inning?
Brach just started getting hit before the break because he was running out of gas. If he goes 25-30 pitches then he’s probably done til Monday atleast. Lorenzen or Hoffman will probably get the chance for multiple innings I would think?
Probably BP is just warming up for second half of the season.
C’mun this is not JB. These guys just need to show up in the game and step up their performance
Hendrix isn’t ready. Give Hoffman a shot over him. Thats easy.
Woodruff/Burnes. We need one. Get swept and fall 7 back again? Not fatal, but pretty close to it. Gives them a ton of confidence and momentum. Wong is a huge factor for them. Wouldn’t bother me if he went back on the IL and take Adames with you!
I’m out gents! Maybe a Reds pitcher will go “old school” tomorrow and repay the 2 HBPs of Reds batters! Where are the Hansen brothers (Slap Shot) when you need them!
That was one thing about Dusty. He believed in the “proportional response”.
3 hbp. They come so fast and furious that its hard to keep track
I think Adames perfectly illustrates the difference between the Reds FO and Milwaukee. They actually went out and plugged a hole in the lineup. Krall and the Reds FO talk a good game and then zip, zero, nada. They made an attempt in 2020 and then tore the house down this season.
Why is freeman batting;… nice double play…. Lopez was on the bench who can hit..
Bell , Reds, and whole team played an ugly game.
Tomorrow they need to play better.
pulled farmer
Don’t understand it, either.
Ugly game all around.
You have Stephenson. You have Lopez. You pick Freeman?
Freeman shouldn’t be on roster period !
Bell is lost as a manager
We can’t talk bad about Bell. His supporters on here don’t like it.
Santillan is a crown jewel of prospects but Bell demotes him to mop up duty in the bullpen
Why wasnt he relieving mahle in the 5th inning?
Instead its the Army of bullpen castoffs from other teams and ERA guys of 7
1-2-3 inning …. whodathunkit
Adames is the difference. He’s already won like 3 games for them with 9th inning HRs and we were crusing 4-1 til his cheapie 2 run hr tonite. We’d probably be atleast tied right now if they didn’t pick him up. It might be hard to overcome Adames/Wong up the middle for them? Wong is a nice little player!
We better not get swept here? RLN seems to think 7-8 games is nothing, but they’re a different offense with Wong in there.
Aquino isn’t giving up very nice HR
Is there *any* doubt at all why the Reds jumped all over Jonathon India in the draft?
Every scout likely saw what he produces every single game. And said, this kid knows how to play the right way.
