The All-Star game kicks off in Colorado tonight. Hopefully the production crew has a better way of covering it than they did in last night’s Home Run Derby. The Cincinnati Reds will have to players in the game and they are both in the starting lineup. Nick Castellanos is starting in right field and batting 5th. He’ll be followed in the lineup by Jesse Winker who is hitting 6th and in left field.

Daddy Wink

C. Trent Rosecrans wrote about Jesse Winker becoming a father last year and the journey it’s taken Winker on. If you have a subscription to The Athletic it’s worth the 5-10 minutes to go give it a read.

Wrapping up the draft

The Cincinnati Reds completed their draft today, making 10 more picks in rounds 11-20. If you want scouting reports on those guys, along with the rest of the players selected by the Reds over the last three days – here’s your link for all the goodies.

Love seeing Castellanos and Winker and hitting back to back.

I know it’s just an exhibition game but I’m not crazy about talking to hitters when they’re at bat. Looking forward to Nick and Jesse doing their thing.

I thought that was weird too with Freeman. I would be distracted.

Hope they rock it back to back 🙂

SP/DH Michael Lorenzen = Be nice to see it once anyway or SP/DH/CF

So Burnes & Woodruff? I’m guessing we’ll see Peralta on Friday and then the other two Sat/Sun in whatever order. Sat gives them 3 days rest. I wonder what our order will be?

    • Bet on Red

we go to see if they are used. I think cause WOodruff won’t pitch in ASG, then he opens friday, which is exactly 5 days rest from his last game

      • Indy Red Man

Yeah I forgot he pitched Sunday so thats 4 days rest. Maybe Peralta, Woodruff, and Burnes? I’m sure they’ll be jacked up after the way the Reds have won at their place (6 of 7)

      • Bet on Red

burns threw 2 innings, assuming they take him out in the 4th. Its a 50/50 split if we see him at all this weekend

      • Indy Red Man

Sunday gives him 4 days rest. We’ve played them 13 times and haven’t seen him yet. Thats kind of arrogant/stupid of Counsell in my book. Fine with me if they overlook us though.

      • Bet on Red

alright, they are pitching peralta as well, therefore the bold prediction is Woodriff on Saturday, one of Burns/Peralta Sunday and one of their non all stars Friday

      • RedsGettingBetter

I think Burns was taking his shape with those 2 frames in ASG so he’ll ready for Friday. I suspect Counsell after lose the last series should go on Burns, Peralta and Woodruff on this weekend. On the Reds side, It’s interesting what Bell gonna do about reordering the rotation being a possibility Miley-Mahle-Castillo for this coming set against Brewers giving time to Gray until Monday…I don’t know…

  6. Bet on Red

Jesse breaks up the perfect game

  7. Jonathan Linn

Somehow Tucker should have received consideration for an all star section. He’s better than the Brewers player who got the nod ????????

Roberts needs to be fired as an AL star manager. First before I rant on the game… remember he has the best paid talent in MLB yet he’s behind a team of Reds SP rejects. Just sayin’…

As far as the game, the lineup is a mess. Muncy is not a 2, he strikes out too much. Then he puts Winker after Casto knowing full well they are reversed in Cincys everyday lineup.

Pitching Scherz unhittable but he’s lifted. If Nationals said he can pitch but can only go one… DONT start him when the SP should go two (or three like Pedro but I digress). Then Burnes, who has one pitch the fastball ag a team of fastball hitters struggles in second but is sent back out in third, WHY? Because Roberts sucks as a manager that’s why!

Now diss was n 4-0 and might as well go to bed as NL going to lose yet again.

Autocorrect the worst on phone…down 4-0, well 4-1.

Was in Denver last weekend, just not for All-Star game directly. We walked around the Coors Field district, and all of downtown was in on hyping the game. Lots of player photos hanging in hotel lobbies, on some overhead street lines. Big knock: Winker and Castellanos were never featured anywhere I saw. And I looked.
