Wade Miley tossed a no-hitter on Friday night against Cleveland. It was the first no-hitter by a Cincinnati Reds pitcher since Homer Bailey tossed his second one in as many years back in 2013. After the game Miley spoke with the media via zoom. Here’s the entire video.

“You won’t like me when I’m angry.” And he’s happy! More Hulk tattoos for these Reds.

What a beautiful performance! The way Miley goes about his business on the mound reminds me so much of Tom Browning, working quickly with a wide assortment of pitches with no need to throw real hard. And now they both have no-hitters for the Reds! Way to go!

I agree with this. And the funny thing is, as a young man out of high school Tom Browning, Wade Miley, and say Bronson Arroyo wouldn’t get a chance even with a minor league contract with their later career pitching. Don’t throw in the mid 90s = no chance… not even a look. Yet, these guys, the ones who move the ball around, give different looks, change speed, pitch to the hitter’s weakness, and keep the ball out of the middle of the plate are often very effective… oftentimes more effective than the flamethrowers.

He reminds me so much of Mark Buerhle, the pace, the not overpowering fast ball, master of moving the ball in and out, even the beard. And you are right, these guys would probably not even get a look these days.

Great Game by Miley!!! He accomplished something that very few ever get to experience. His name will be written with some of the greatest pitchers in the history of the game. Enjoy WDe you earned it.

To me, he really comes across as a humble, regular guy. Love his “Dad moment” with a 4-year-old son and the stick on tattoo. That’s something that will be cemented together with the no-no forever. Have to think he’ll get showered with Hulk tattoos from fans now.

I hear him being hesitant about getting “the jab” but I hope he can work through that. It’s important for everyone’s sake. But I certainly don’t want to turn this thread into a soapbox. I only mention it because he did.

Way to go, Wade. Glad they didn’t “bang” the game and upset the Moose either. The weight of that 9th inning must have been something to bear, but you went lights out on the Tribe, so that’s what matters.

Now, if the Reds PR staff are paying attention, they see they should approach Marvel for permission to use Hulk for promos, etc.

Wade Miley Hulk Bobblehead night must happen!

The Reds announcers were talking about all of the time he and Sonny seem to spend together. Telling.
    Get in there,Luis.

As fans we sometimes forget they are humans just like us that play a kid’s game to make a living. If you ask him the Dad moment where he talks about his son and the tattoo means just as much as the no hitter.Just saw some highlights and it was vintage Tom Browning all over again. The 3 free runs the Tribe gave us in the ninth were just meant to be and so was Miley’s gem.Congrats to him and Go Reds.

Wade Miley Hulk temporary tattoos for EVERYBODY!!!

Congratulations to Miley. Good pitchers want to pitch quickly and good hitters want to get in the box and hit. To watch the game when things are going quickly is beautiful. Keeps everybody including the defense on their toes, leading to crisp play.

Tells me if you want to beat the Indians throw an unhearalded left handed pitcher. Two no hitters by similar guys.

Their team only has sluggers, not hitters, is what they were taking about on the radio broadcast.
