Saturday’s loss to the Rangers dropped the Reds to 30-38, the most number of games they have been under .500 for the season. The previous low water mark was seven below .500 at 1-8. Since then, they are 29-30.

The Reds try to avoid the sweep today in the 1:10 p.m. Eastern time series finale at Great American Ball Park.

Starting Pitchers

Name IP ERA xFIP K% BB%
Ariel Jurado 41.2 3.02 4.27 19.2% 6.8%
Sonny Gray 66.2 3.65 3.55 25.7% 9.4%

Righthander Jurado is making his sixth start in 15 overall appearances. Originally signed by Texas in 2013, he completed his five-year developmental cycle in the Rangers farm system in 2018 when he was promoted to the big-league club. Gray has been solid in his first year with the Reds, but has been victimized by lack of run support by the offense.

Bullpen

All members of the bullpen should be available today. Amir Garrett and Michael Lorenzen pitched an inning apiece Saturday. Robert Stephenson is back from his rehab assignment at Louisville.
