The Cincinnati Reds (51-66) are looking to stop a four game losing streak in this final game of a two-game series against the Kansas City Royals (72-46.) The Reds have now been outscored 13-2 by the Royals through three games this season.
Jeremy Guthrie tossed six shutout inning against Cincinnati on May 20th. That was the only 2015 start where Guthrie has held his opponent scoreless.
Keyvius Sampson is looking to build upon his promising start as a member of the Reds rookie rotation. He’s yet to make it past the 6th inning in his first three major league starts, but he’s also yet to allow more than three runs in any start.
The Royals lineup moves Ben Zobrist into second base from left field. Salvador Perez is getting a night off behind the plate, and Jarrod Dyson gets the start in left field, batting 9th behind the pitcher:
- Alcides Escobar (R) SS
- Ben Zobrist (S) 2B
- Lorenzo Cain (R) CF
- Eric Hosmer (L) 1B
- Mike Moustakas (L) 3B
- Alex Rios (R) RF
- Drew Butera (R) C
- Jeremy Guthrie (R) P
- Jarrod Dyson (L) LF
With Billy Hamilton on the disabled list, there was a lot of shuffling to tonight’s Reds lineup. Marlon Byrd has the night off, and Tucker Barnhart takes the start behind the plate.
- Jason Bourgeois (R) CF
- Eugenio Suarez (R) SS
- Joey Votto (L) 1B
- Brandon Phillips (R) 2B
- Jay Bruce (L) RF
- Todd Frazier (R) 3B
- Tucker Barnhart (S) C
- Skip Schumaker (L) LF
- Keyvius Sampson (R) P
#Reds moves: LeCure and Boesch called up. Axelrod optioned to AAA. Hamilton on DL (sprained capsule, right shoulder). Adcock to 60-day.

PITCHING IN 3D
Let’s focus on positive news, where someone did something nice for a child. A five-year-old fan of the Baltimore Orioles got to throw out the first pitch to yesterday’s O’s versus A’s game with her custom made, 3D-printed robotic hand.
Hailey’s hand is based on the Flexy-Hand 2 project, and anyone can download plans for the customizable hand on Thingiverse, a site for discovering and sharing 3D-printed objects. The UNLV engineering department customized the Flexy-Hand for Hailey’s needs and size.

The Reds pitching, overall, has been better since the trade deadline by allowing 3.7 runs per game in August compared to 4.4 runs per game through the end of July. They need the offense to get back on track and finally hit Guthrie this time around to stop their current losing skid.
