Did you remember to wear red today? It’s a red Friday. #RedsFridays.

Brandon Phillips is out of the lineup again today, still struggling with turf toe. He was pulled out of the game on May 12 because of the injury and has started in nine of the Reds 14 games since then, not counting today. His hitting: .250/.289/.389 during that time, with one walk. The Reds are winless in the games he’s played. Baseball-Reference has his fielding WAR slightly negative for the year, FanGraphs has it slightly positive.

The Reds announced today they are putting up a new video board over the Moon/Sun Deck in right field.

To bad about Brandon. He was playing good up until that turf toe… then again tat has been the case with BP. He get’s hot then gets injured and then goes subpar. Last year it was a thumb.

As we get older we tend to get injured more often and it takes us longer to recover. It stinks. I’m hoping BP gets to feeling better. Best thing for the team would have been to DL him and let him take 2-3 weeks but that isn’t how the Reds operate. The only real cure for turf toe in most cases is to stay off of it and rest.
