The Reds are 3-2 this season in games I have attended. The last two were both losses that required extra innings before the Reds finally limped off the field defeated. Those games were quite a while ago, during a time in which the Reds were still considered in the playoff hunt. I’ll be attending today’s game, the final one I will see in person this season, in hopes that the Reds can knock off the Pittsburgh Pirates and end their dream of a division crown.

Discuss the game here Reds fans! Go Reds!

FYI- The Pirates @ Reds is being broadcast on FS1 aka Fox Sports Channel. Plus all the games on t.v. are free this weekend. Go Reds!

Even though I can’t name one player on the Kansas City Royals, I think that’s who I’m going to root for in the post season. Why? Because they’re the Kansas City Royals.

You’re in St.Louis, right, Sarge? Doesn’t Cardinal Nation turn their noses up at KC?

      • sergeant2

Yes I’m in the metro St. Louis area, and yes, you hit the nail right on the nose (pun intended) about Cardinal Nation looking down their beaks at KC.

Saturday afternoon musings; Resign Ramon S. Keep Negron on 25 man. 2 guys who can play any position in the infield and not embarrass the team defensively.

Get rid of most of the bullpen including Lecure – dude has been pretty brutal this year and about as undependable as Hoover and Ondrusuck

      • pinson343

I agree with all of the above (before this game). Keep Ramon S. & Negron on 25 man, lose LeCure.

Frazier comes through. Let’s hope the Reds can avoid another one run loss.

I can hear the pirates fans whining from here as Frazier ties it up on a GABP special. Is there any fan more annoying than the one that constantly whines about the ballpark when it hurts their team? As if McCutchen and Walker haven’t taken advantage of GABP a few times. I think Pirate fans are more annoying than Cardinal fans and the Pirates radio guys are just offensive. McCutchen is the only likable thing about the Pirates and I hope the reds help to keep them from winning the division.

WOOW!!! Chapman in a non-save situation at home. Good grief it only took 161 games (80 at home) for Price to get it. Must be the fact that he has a job next year.

Its worth the price of admission to watch that man pitch. I’m speaking of the Cuban missile of course. Go Reds!

  8. sergeant2

Frazier, Mesoraco and Heisey due up. Shirley there’s a good chance one of em will give the Reds a walk off win. Go Reds!

Using Pena as PH. Pirates counter with new pitcher.

    • George Mirones

Isn’t this the guy who the Penguins picked up?

  10. George Mirones

Could this be a walk off 1 run win?

    • pinson343

Nope, a walkoff (extra inning) 4 run win !

  11. sergeant2

Are you kidding me!!! A walk off grand slam to win a tie game. Gonna be tough for the Pirates to shake this loss off.

  12. pinson343

Ramon !!! I knew he’d win it against this wild kid, but I thought it would be a walk off walk !

If the Cards beat the DBacks tonight they are the Div. champs. If Cards lose tonight, tomorrows Reds/Pirates game will be a big one. Go Reds!

    • pinson343

Where is everybody, Sarge ? I reported for duty at 13:00 and nervously watched the whole game, but watched thru my cell phone. Hard to post from there.

  14. pinson343

I hope the Cards lose, so the Reds can beat the Pirates in another significant game tomorrow.

So glad I watched that game through to the end! Never could have predicted that one! Just goes to show you can never predict baseball.

    • George Mirones

Price forced the issue by not using Bruce and staying with the 2 switch hitters.

      • pinson343

I liked Price’s managing today. He did everything he could to win. Pulled Simon after 5. Brought in a secret weapon (Axlerod) just when whoever else was in the pen would have lost the game. Pinch hit for Rodriguez with Pena. All good moves.

  16. George Mirones

Seems like a big pitching decision for Pirates. If Cards lose do the Pirates start Cole to tie the Cards and play the cards in a tie breaker or save him for a wild card play in against the Giants which is the worse they face by not winning the division.

  17. pinson343

If Cards lose tonight, I think the Pirates stick with Cole. It’s good that they’ve made winning the division important.

Alright, I’ll admit, I was flipping back & forth between the Virginia Tech game (I DID see Ramon’s walk-off Granny, though), but, was that the Pirate’s own Greg Brown, calling it, so enthusiastically, at the end? Was the whole crew From Pittsburgh? Or was Greg Brown tapped to be a “neutral” play-by-play guy, like Thom Brennaman sometimes is? He almost sounded like he’d exclaim, “LOWER THE JOLLY ROGER!!! GRAND SLAM!!!”
