For just the second time ever, the Reds will travel to Baltimore to play three game at Camden Yards. The two clubs have only played two previous regular season series. The Reds won two of three against the O’s at GABP back in 2006, and the Reds lost two of three against the O’s at Camden Yards back in 2011.
Camden Yards is one of the most beautiful parks in all of the MLB. It opened back in 1992, and was the first of the retro style MLB parks that we see all over baseball today. This year it has hosted the best team in the AL East. The O’s have 79 wins, good for the second most in the MLB (the Angels 83 is the most), and have an 8.5 game lead in the division.
The O’s have scored 591 runs this season, which is good for 7th best in the MLB (the Reds have scored 485, 28th in the MLB). The O’s also have a 103 wRC+ (8th in the MLB), and .733 OPS (4th in the MLB). The O’s pitchers have posted a 3.60 ERA (13th in the MLB), 3.99 FIP (25th in the MLB), and 1.26 WHIP (13th in the MLB).
The Reds offense has struggled all season, and for the next three games they will have to play an additional offensive player with the DH. Bryan Price will have some addition options, as the Reds called up 10 players yesterday as the rosters expanded to 40 players.
