This weekend, the Cincinnati Reds celebrate the induction of the 2014 Reds Hall of Fame Class: Ken Griffey Jr., Dave Parker, Ron Oester and the late Jake Beckley.

If you attend one of the induction ceremonies and want to contribute your thoughts and pictures, send them to us at [email protected]. We’ll compile and post them. Certainly send pictures of yourself at the game, even if you don’t have anything in particular to say. Extra credit to anyone with Redleg Nation hats, shirts and/or coolers, of course.

I’ll be at the induction and the game. I’d be happy to help out.

Jr was a superstar. He deserves more respect in hindsight for abstaining from the temptation of PEDs when many of his peers and competitors profited from their use.

I spent 30 min talking to Jr this past December. He was kind enough to entertain my questions for that long! However, he didn’t have much good to say about the Reds organization back then. He seemed to feel like ownership/ mgmt mistreated his family. Honestly, I’m surprised he showed up for the induction after whatever the grievance was. Someone had to do some major apologizing to get him back to Cincy.

Jr brought out one of Dusty’s unpopular managerial strategies, namely, play who the fans came out to see. Jr became unpopular because of this. He wouldn’t or couldn’t run out grounders or extra base hits
