During the 8th inning of the Reds-Diamondbacks game on Friday night, Dbacks announcer Bob Brenly said something very interesting during Skip Schumaker’s at-bat.

“We won’t use any names to protect the innocent, but apparently one of his teammates, one of his superstar caliber teammates here with the Cincinnati Reds didn’t come out to batting practice when it was his groups turn to hit. So Mr. Schumaker went into the clubhouse and requested his presence out on the field.”

I’ll leave the speculation as to who this was to you, but a player skipping out on batting practice and Skip Schumaker having to go into the clubhouse to get them doesn’t sit all that well with me.  That is especially the case on a team that entered Friday 23-29, and has scored the third fewest runs in the MLB this season.
