Bryan Price continues the welcome trait of being willing to adjust the Reds lineup.

Price is giving Brandon Phillips the night off and having Skip Schumaker play 2B and bat second after Billy Hamilton. Devin Mesoraco is back in the lineup and continues moving up in the order, now to the #3 spot, in place of DatDudeBP. Jay Bruce returns after a day off and is batting fourth. Todd Frazier is fifth. Donald Lutz makes his first start of the year for the Reds at 1B and is hitting sixth. Zack Cozart is batting seventh. Roger Bernadina is playing LF and batting eighth.

Price seems committed to playing his bench guys occasionally to keep them sharp. I hope this lineup doesn’t mean he’s given up on Todd Frazier batting second, which is a great idea given Super Todd’s excellent start (.264/.340/.483). Curiously, the one player who never changes his spot in the batting order is Billy Hamilton, the rookie who is considerably below average as a lead-off hitter and struggles against top pitchers like, well, Zack Greinke. I wouldn’t mind seeing Price try Cozart leading off, as he leads the Reds in OBP (.363) over the past 30 days.
