The Reds are off to a disappointing 12-15 start that has them in 3rd place in the NL Central. This week let’s check in across the minors to see how each of the Red’s full season minor league teams are faring.

 

AAA Louisville Bats

The Bats are 11-14 and are in 3rd place in the International League West. SP Josh Smith (2.45 ERA) and Jeff Francis (2.72) are leading the rotation while a struggling David Holmberg (14.46) has found his way onto the DL. Closer Jumbo Diaz has yet to be scored on in nine appearances. 2B Ruben Gotay is still hitting well with a slash line of .319/.400/.571/.971. Recently recalled C Tucker Barnhart .250/.327/.455/.781 is the only other Bat putting up good numbers at the plate. OF Ryan LaMarre and Josh Fellhauer are both on the DL also.

 

AA Pensacola Blue Yahoos

The Blue Wahoos are 10-16 and sitting in 5th place in the Southern League South. They are led on the hill by SP Jon Moscot (2.08) and Michael Lorenzen (1.88). Reliever Shane Dyer (0.93) heads up the bullpen. LF Donald Lutz (.370/.418/.726/1.144) is leading the way at the plate. C Bryan Anderson (.310/.379/.621/.999) and 3B Juan Silverio (.333/.377/.528/.904) are also hitting well.

 

High A Bakersfield Blaze

The Blaze are in 1st place in the California League North with a 19-8 record.   SP Ben Lively (0.31) is leading the way from the mound with reliever Carlos Gonzalez having yet to allow a run while notching 6 saves. 1B Marquez Smith is tearing it up thus far with a slash line of .321/.455/.655/1.110. C Chris Berset (.319/.407/.553/.961) and RF Kyle Waldrop (.396/.451/.525/.976) are swinging the bats good as well. Hot hitting OFs Junior Arias(.394/.459/.606/1.066), and Jesse Winker (.333/.413/.551/.964) are both on the DL.

 

Low A Dayton Dragons

The Dragons lead the Midwest League Eastern division with a 16-9 record. SP Ismael Guillon (1.59), Sal Ramano (2.33), Daniel Wright (1.62) and Nick Travieso (1.23) head up a strong pitching staff. Relievers Zack Weiss and Alejandro Chacin have yet to allow a run. Sebastian Elizalde is hitting .324/.495/.559/1.053 while splitting time between LF and 1B. CF Beau Amaral (.329/.377/.529/.905) is also off to a good start for the Dragons.
