The Reds just announced that today’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals has been delayed due to rain.* At least for now, the Reds have opened the gates and expect the game will be played eventually. The two teams played until after midnight yesterday due to a 2 hour 40 minute rain delay. The Cardinals make two other visits to GABP May 23-25 and September 8-11. The Reds’ next game is tomorrow night in New York against the Mets at 7:10 p.m.

If this game is postponed, Bryan Price could, if he chooses, rearrange the pitching rotation so that Johnny Cueto can face the Cardinals in St. Louis on Monday. Presumably Homer Bailey would pitch tomorrow in New York and could be followed by Mike Leake and Alfredo Simon. That would allow Cueto, Tony Cingrani and Bailey on regular rest to pitch in the three-game series vs. the Cardinals.
