It’s been a long wait for the Cincinnati Reds and their fans, but Opening Day 2014 has finally arrived!

We hope you’ve been growing comfortable with the new Redleg Nation site design. If you haven’t registered to comment yet (you may have to create a new account), please do so. We like to read your opinions.

Our plans for today are as follows: Nick has already posted the second part of his NL Central preview, with his predictions including his All-NL Central Team (do you agree with his choices?). At noon, we’ll post our thoughts on the upcoming season, limited to 100 words per person. About an hour before game time, we’ll post our traditional game thread for your comments during the game (this might be a good time to re-familiarize yourself with our commenting guidelines – basically no profanity, no personal attacks, keep it civil). And after the game we’ll publish a recap of the Reds’ glorious win over the St. Louis Cardinals!

That’s what we’re doing. What about you, Nation?

Let’s do a roll call. Post a comment to this thread and let us know where you’ll be watching the game. If you’re decked out in Reds swag today (and who isn’t?) take a picture and send it to us, with your name and location (name and location optional) and we’ll post it on the new Redleg Nation Tumblr page. Send your pictures to redlegnation2014@gmail.com.

And go Reds!

I’ll be watching on my couch in Roswell, Georgia with MLB Extra Innings on DirecTV. In a Reds camp shirt as is the annual tradition. No selfies though… By the way and in the interests of full disclosure, CFD3000 = Christopher DeBlois. I’ll figure out eventually how to change the way my name is listed on comments here. Good to be back in fine RLN company. Go Reds!

HAPPY OPENING DAY!!! I’ll be watching from Livingston, NJ (15 minutes outside of NYC). Excited for a great season. Go REDS!

  3. Jeff Copeland

Watching from the house in Little Rock Arkansas.

  4. Kathy Lynn Bryan

Happy Opening Day! Will be listening, not sure game will be on tv here with Frankfort Plant Board cable. Will check to be sure. Doesn’t matter too much. Radio broadcast fine with me.

Hello my fellow Reds fans, been a long, long off season. The new RN website looks awesome, but gonna take some getting use to. (looks like we can have an avatar, awesome) Looking forward to another enjoyable time hanging out on the RN game thread. I’ll be watching the game from enemy territory (on T.V.) I live in an area known as Metro East, about 25 miles east of downtown St. Louis. Can’t be at the game, but I’ll be wearing my Reds gear during the game and everywhere I go all season. I have a ton of catching up to do. And a special thanks to the guys that make Redleg Nation happen. Go Reds!!!!

I’ll be watching at work for the first couple of innings (shhhh don’t tell my boss) and then at home in Orlando. Let’s go Reds!

MLB At Bat is the app you need to listen to radio online (if you have a smart phone). If not, mlb.com has radio. It’s $15/year, but well worth it.

Any fans know of ways to watch the games online or without a cable subscription. I’m too cheap to buy cable. Live in Columbus so MLB.com blacks out the games. Tried Slingbox (didn’t work).

VPN-ing in from elsewhere is more complications than what it’s worth.

    Thoughts?

If not, I’ve always got Marty and the Cowboy.

Only as a last resort. Not the best site (slightly buggy, many, many pop-ups false play buttons), but when push comes to shove…

The only good part of living so far from Cincy is that I’m pretty much guaranteed I won’t be blacked out on mlb.tv 🙂 Forget work…it’s baseball season! Go Reds!

I’ll be keeping track via AtBat14 then hopefully catch the end at home after work….

Go Reds! They’re my favorite team!

BTW, I like the new site design. Its unfortunate that our old logins got zapped but thats a small price to pay for a great reds blog and community.

Here’s a toast to a great 2014 of Reds baseball!

Representing the 801, this is is Ethan reporting from Provo, Ut on the Wasatch Front. Got my Votto jersey on in the 32 degree heat. Go Redlegs!!!

  12. Bill Kramer

I’ll be watching the game on my iPad from my office in Washington, DC. I’m sporting my Reds polo shirt today and my Mr. Redlegs spring training hat. Go Redlegs!

  13. PRoseFutureHOFer

I’ll be watching at home on Long Island, New York, surrounded by Reds memorabilia and wearing a Joey Votto jersey. I moved into my house just before Opening Day 2005, and that year I decided to stay home from work on Opening Day and enjoy my team in my new home. That started a tradition for me of playing hookey on Opening Day. Since they pushed the start time back to 4:00, I only need to leave early and not take the whole day, but still… It’s a holiday! One of these years I will make it to Cincy for Opening Day. Go Reds!

  14. Tyler Burdett

I’ll be watching from Twin Falls, Idaho!

  15. aktrainer

I’ll be listening to Marty and watching the game on ESPN (on silent, of course!). Talked the boss into letting me telecommute on Opening Day so I didn’t make a fool of myself in the office. This is another loyal Nation member in Washington DC!

We’re having a small party after work here in Bloomington, Indiana. We’re DVRing it until we get home, so (unfortunately/fortunately?) we can’t pay attention this afternoon so we don’t spoil anything until we can watch. I’m making Skyline Chili Pizza (they sell Skyline Chili in cans here at Kroger) and having Esther Price candies for dessert. Go Reds!

  17. Ohioindiaspora

I will be glued to my ESPN score center app here in Guadalajara, Mexico

  18. w_c_hughes

I will be watching the first half from LaRosas in Loveland while taking advantage of “Spaghetti-a-plenty”. I’ll listen to the second half on the way to Microbiology at UC Blue Ash! Probably will have gamecast up in class.

I have some questions about the possibility of adding some options to the comment format, but I thought better of it. Opening Day is not the time for that kind of stuff. Play Ball! Go Reds!

  20. Reed Tom

I’ll be watching on ESPN in Boynton Beach, Fl. I just realized it’s been 60 years (1954) that I called in sick at Middletown H.S. and with a couple baseball buddies we went to opening day at Crosley Field where Hank Aaron played his first M.L. game with the Milwaukee Braves. I think the 2014 Reds will be the surprise team of the N.L.

  21. Matt Sehnert

Be watching from home in Columbus Ohio with my new #6 Billy Hamilton jersey. Go Reds!!!

  22. Mark in Iowa

I’ll be watching at home in Cedar Rapids, IA. Go Reds!!!!

  23. Matt L

I’ll be watching in Pittsburgh. Even after the disappointment of last year, I’ll still be proudly wearing my Reds gear in Bucco territory.

  24. Jimmy Sibillia

Reds flag is up in the front yard, Opening day, Cle Elum, Washington, will be watching on ESPN. Good Luck Cincinnati Reds!!!

  25. Dan French

Took the day off just to watch it on ESPN from my home in Watchung, New Jersey. I’ll be signing up for MLB.tv again after trying it for the first time last year. Being able to watch the Reds again after all these years re-ignited my love for the Reds after so many unsatisfying years in Yankees / Mets country. Now, if I could only get some Skyline and a Hudepohl, I’d really be back home.

  26. bhrubin1

Unfortunately, as a Cincy expat, I will be watching the first three games on MLB.tv. But I will be in the cheap seats at Citi Field for the second series. Looking forward to three consecutive games this weekend. Speaking of which, I see a number of other current residents of that other tri-state area on this thread. Anybody else going to the Mets series?

  27. esbienenfeld

I’m stuck in class until 6 so I’ll be following on Game Cast… Happy Opening Day everyone!!
