Louisville had the day off for their All-Star break.

In the AAA All-Star game, Billy Hamilton led off the game with a single, stole second base, advanced to third on a groundout and then scored on another groundout.

Greg Reynolds started for the International League All-Stars and was credited with the win despite allowing 2 runs on 3 hits in his one inning of work.

The Southern League All-Star game saw the South Division 1-hit the North Division. Tim Crabbe pitched a scoreless 5th inning, allowing the North Division’s only hit of the game. Shaun Ellis pitched the scoreless 6th inning, walking one and striking out one.

High A
Visalia 4 – Bakersfield 0

Jon Moscot (1-13, 4.96 ERA) allowed 3 runs over 6 innings on 7 hits and a walk. He struck out six. Moscot would seem to be a perfect example of why you cannot use W-L record to evaluate a pitcher. In 101.2 innings, he has allowed 103 hits, just 34 walks, and struck out 103 (more than a batter an inning.)

Ryan Wright (2-for-4) had half of Bakersfield’s four hits.

Low A
Beloit 4 – Dayton 2

Sal Romano allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits over 5 innings. He also walked 5, threw a wild pitch, and struck out 5 batters. Alejandro Chacin followed with 3 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 3.

Jesse Winker (2-for-3, BB, 2B, HR) supplied the Dragons offense again with a 2-run homerun in the 9th inning. Joe Hudson (2-for-4) also had a pair of hits.


Rookie
Grand Junction 5 – Billings 4

Nick Fleece pitched a perfect inning, striking out two. 2013 18th round draft pick Joe Mantoni allowed just 1 hit in a scoreless inning, getting all three outs via strikeout. Mantoni is yet to be scored on in his 7 professional relief appearances. In 7.2 innings, he has walked 4 batters (3 of those in 1 game) while striking out 13.

Jon Matthews (2-for-5) had a pair of singles, stole a base and scored a run. Ronald Bueno (2-for-4, 2B) had a pair of hits and scored a run. Taylor Terrasas (1-for-2, HR, BB) hit a solo homerun in the second inning. Phil Ervin (1-for-4, BB) reached twice, drove in a run, and stole a base.

AZL Reds 4 – AZL Brewers 3

Kevin Arico started and pitched a scoreless inning. Manuel Aybar followed with 4.2 scoreless innings. He allowed a hit, 4 walks and struck out 2. Ty Boyles added 2.1 shutout innings, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 3.

Aristides Aquino (3-for-5, 3B, SB) supplied much of the Reds offense with three hits, a stolen base, a pair of runs scored, and an RBI. Jose Fernandez was 1-for-5, reached on an error, stole 3 bases and scored once. Jose Duarte (2-for-4, 2B) had a pair of hits and an RBI.
