Minor League Player of the Day: 28 year old Louisville utlityman, Jason Donald, went 2-4 with a double and a homer. Donald competed for a utlity spot on the big club in spring training, but has struggled at AAA, with a slash line of .221/.269/.331, after hitting .277/.365/.441 last year at AAA Columbus.
AAA
The good news, the Bats scored, in fact, they scored 3. The bad news? They gave up double digit runs for the second game in a row.
Jason Donald was 2-4 with a double and his 2nd homer. Nefi Soto was 2-4 and hit his 11th homer. Nevin Ashley hit his 5th homer. (I really don’t understand why the Reds called up Miller rather than Ashley, but…)
Recently promoted Chad Rogers got beat up, giving up 8 runs on 8 hits and 4 walks (5 strikeouts) in 4.1 innings. In 3 AAA starts, his ERA is 7.56. Kevin Whelan threw 1.2 scoreless innings, Zach Duke and Pedro Villarreal threw scoreless innings. Duke has now thrown 12.1 scoreless innings in 12 appearances, giving up 7 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 12.
