Minor League Player of the Day

Lake Elsinore 8 – Bakersfield 5
Bakersfield appeared to be set for a win by leading 5-2 heading to the 9th inning. Ken Klimesh came on in the 8th and then started the 9th inning. He allowed 2 runs on a hit and a walk in the 9th to cut the lead to 5-4. Carlos Gonzalez then came on and blew his 2nd save of the season by allowing 4 more 9th inning runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. Suddenly, Lake Elsinore had scored 6 runs in the 9th inning and took the 8-5 win. Shane Dyer pitched well in the start, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings pitched. He struck out 3. In 44 innings pitched, Dyer has a 2.45 ERA and has allowed 47 base runners.
Ryan Wright, Juan Silverio, and Juan Perez each went 2-4 in the loss. Wright had a double, scored a run, and drove in 2 RBI. Silverio had a single and a double. Perez added a triple and an RBI.

Alejandro Chacin allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on 2 hits and a walk in 1.2 innings of relief to pick up the loss in extra innings. The loss dropped his record to 2-3 on the year. Drew Cisco pitched 6 innings in the start, allowing 1 unearned run on 7 hits and no walks while striking out 4.
Seth Mejias-Brean went 2-3 with 2 doubles and a run scored. He also drew a walk. Sammy Diaz had 2 hits, both singles, in 5 at-bats.
Rookie
Missoula 4 – Billings 3
Johnathon Reynoso went 2-5 with 2 singles and an RBI while Ty Washington went 2-4 with 2 singles. Reynoso also swiped his 5th stolen base of the season in 13 games played.
Ben Lively fell to 0-1 on the season by allowing 3 unearned runs on 4 hits in 3 innings pitched. Lively has started 3 games this season, gone 9 innings in those starts, and has not allowed an earned run yet.
Kevin Garcia went 2-5 and hit his 3rd homerun of the season in the 1st inning. Cory Thompson only had 1 hit, but it was his 1st homerun of the season with the Reds.
Juan Martinez allowed 6 runs on 5 hits in 2.2 innings to start. Bernardo Moreta did not help matters much by allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in .2 innings pitched.
