Louisville 5 – Norfolk 3; Game 1

Denis Phipps had 2 doubles in 3 at bats and drove in 2 RBI.  Corky Miller went 2-2 with a double and an RBI while Mike Hessman added a double and RBI of his own.

Daniel Corcino improved to 3-9 on the season by going 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4.  Yohan Pino picked up his 6th save of the season by pitching 2 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out 2.  Anyone else surprised that Pino pitched 2 innings and got the save?

Louisville 1 – Norfolk 0; Game 2

Jason Donald’s double in the 6th inning would be the only hit the Bats would get in the win.  But a sacrifice got him over and an out got him in.  It was enough offense to get the win.

Armando Galarraga pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5.  He picked up the win to run his record to 5-4 on the season.  Kevin Whelan pitched a scoreless 6th while Zach Duke picked up his 1st save by pitching a perfect 7th inning.

Mobile 3 – Pensacola 1

Devin Lohman was the only player with a multi-hit game and he drove in the lone Wahoos RBI.  Lohman finished the game 2-4 with 2 singles, an RBI, and a stolen base.

Ryan Dennick pitched well, but still saw his record fall to 3-7 on the season.  Dennick allowed 2 runs on 6 hits and a walk while striking out 8 over 7 innings pitched.  In 77.2 innings pitched, Dennick posts a 3.13 earned run average.

High A
Bakersfield 5 – Modesto 3

Juan Silverio went 2-4 with a double and 3 RBI to lead the Blaze past the Nuts.  The 3 RBI gives Silverio 33 runs batted in on the season.  Steve Selsky had 2 singles and a walk in 4 plate appearances.  He also scored a run and drove in a run.  Yorman Rodriguez reached base twice in 4 plate appearance and scored 2 runs.

James Allen picked up the win to improve to 5-5 on the season.  Allen allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in 7 innings pitched.  Pat Doyle picked up a 2-inning save despite allowing a run in the 8th and 2 hits.  He struck out 5.

Dayton 7 – South Bend 4

Sammy Diaz went 3-4 with 2 singles and a double.  He also scored a run, drove in a run, and added a walk.  Seth Mejias-Brean had a solo homerun and a single in 4 at-bats.  He scored twice and had an RBI.  The homerun was his 2nd of the season. Junior Arias and Jesse Winker each hit a homerun in the game.  For Arias, his was a 3-run shot in the 6th inning for his 7th homerun of the season.  Winker’s was a 2-run homerun in the 6th for his 9th homer of the year.

Nick Traviesto allowed 1 run in 5 innings pitched to pick up the win.  He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 in the win.  Traviesto is now 1-1 on the season with Dayton.
