Minor League Player of the Day: Dragons reliever Sean Lucas pitched a 2-inning save. He allowed just one hit and one walk in his two shutout innings. It was the first walk Lucas has allowed since May 17th. Lucas has held his opponents scoreless for the past 11 innings, dating back to May 14th.

Norfolk 8 – Louisville 7 in 10 innings.
Chad Reineke allowed 2 runs, 7 hits, and 2 walks over 5 innings while striking out 3.
Louisville trailed 7-1 heading to the bottom of the 7th inning, but scored once in the 7th and three more times in the 8th to cut the Tides’ lead to 7-5. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, Corky Miller and Mike Hessman led off the inning with back-to-back rally killers to send the game to extras. Kristopher Negron (3-for-5, R) had three of the Bats 13 hits. Felix Perez (2-for-4, BB, 2B, R, 2 RBI) and Neftali Soto (2-for-5, R) each had a pair of hits.
Daniel Renken limited the Biscuits to just 1 run over 6 innings. He allowed 3 hits, issued 3 free passes, and struck out 7.
Joe Mather’s 2-run homerun in the 7th, temporarily gave the Blue Wahoos a 2-1 lead. Redleg Nation Spotlight Player, Tucker Barnhart (1-for-2, BB) was on base and scored on Mather’s homerun. Barnhart has had a hit in 9 of his last 10 games.
— UPDATE I didn’t notice this earlier, but this game was actually the conclusion of Tuesday’s suspended game. Wednesday’s action started in the bottom of the 7th with the 2-1 Pensacola lead noted above. Wednesday’s regularly scheduled game was supposed to follow, but it was rained out. So, Wednesday’s game is now part of a doubleheader, starting at 6:05pm this evening.

High Desert 15 – Bakersfield 9
Mike Dennhardt only made it through 3 batters into the 2nd inning. He finished with a line of 6 hits, 6 runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts in 1 inning. Of the 7 Blaze pitchers used, only Jimmy Moran held the Mavericks scoreless. He pitched a perfect 6th inning.
The Blaze offense had just 3 runs through the first 6 innings. Already down 12-3 in the top of the 7th, Bakersfield scored 6 times over the final three frames. Marquez Smith (3-for-5, R, RBI) and Juan Silverio (3-for-4, 2B, 2R) had three hits each. Juan Silva (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) hit a 2-run homerun in the 9th inning. Steve Selsky also had a pair of hits and has reach base safely in 9 straight games.

Dayton 5 – Bowling Green 3
Five more walks and a wild pitch for Ismael Guillon, but he limited the Hot Rods to 1 hit and 2 runs over 5 innings. Sean Lucas allowed a hit and a walk over the final two shutout innings for his 8th save. It was the first walk Lucas has allowed since May 17th. Lucas hasn’t allowed a run to score since May 14th, a span of 11 innings.
Tablesetter, Beau Amaral (2-for-3, BB, 2B, 3B, R, RBI) reached base 3 times. Junior Arias (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2R, RBI) had two extra base hits, including a solo homerun in the 2nd inning. Seth Mejias-Brean (2-for-4, 2B, R) was the only other Dragon with two hits.
