Minor League Player of the Day: David Vidal (Pensacola Blue-Wahoos) reached base all 4 times yesterday with 2 singles and 2 walks.  Whatever curse has been placed on the Reds offense the last 2 games and trickled down to the farm as well.  The 4 Reds farm teams scored a combined 5 runs in yesterday’s contests.

Gwinnett 2 – Louisville 1

Emmanuel Burriss had 2 hits and an RBI while Billy Hamilton added a double and scored the only Bats run.

Armando Galarraga pitched 5 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits, a walk, and striking out 5.  Yohan Pino allowed the 2 Gwinnett runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in 3 innings of relief.

Tennessee 5 – Pensacola 3

David Vidal reached base 4 times in the contest by recording 2 singles and 2 walks.  Unfortunately he is still batting .167/.262/.222 on the season in 19 games.  Devin Lohman doubled in 4 at-bats.  He also drove in a run and scored a run.

Daniel Renken allowed 4 runs in 5.2 innings pitched.  Only 2 of the runs were earned and scored via 6 hits, 4 walks, and 1 Pensacola error.  He struck out 2.

Visalia 3 – Bakersfield 1

Ryan Wright had 2 of the Blaze’s 4 hits in the game, going 2-4 with 2 singles and an RBI.

After Carlos Contreras allowed 3 runs in the first 4 innings, the Blaze bullpen of Carlos Gonzalez, El’Hajj Muhammad, and Brian Pearl combined to throw 5 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and 3 walks while striking out 9 combined.

Joe Hudson had 2 singles in 4 at-bats.  Junior Arias was perfect at the plate last night.  He recorded the “Golden Sombrero” by striking out all 4 times at the plate.

Robert Stephenson dropped to 0-3 on the season with the loss.  Stephenson allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks in 5.2 innings pitched.  He struck out 4.
