Below is a summary of how each of the Reds minor league teams fared this season with a list of their top performers this season. The top performers is a quick and dirty list of all of the players who performed above league average with a significant amount of playing time for the most part. These are great resources for Reds Organization statistics for pitchers and hitters if you are not already making use of them.
AAA
It was a rough year for the Bats who were the worst team in the International League. Off season trades and big league promotions left them depleted of young talent to begin the season. Horrible starts by Phipps and Soto, who both finished well, did not help. Look for much better things next season in Louisville as Rodriguez, Gregorius, and Puckett complete their adjustments to AAA and are joined by Mills, Fellhauer, and Hamilton up from AA. The pitching staff will be younger and much improved also as Redmond and Villarreal will be joined by Corcino, Cingrani, and Obispo up from AA.

AA
The Blue Wahoos had a solid, if unspectacular season. They held their own as they swapped out prospects leaving for AAA with those coming up form A+. Promotions for Puckett, Rodriguez, Gregorius, and Villarreal were back filled by promotions to AA for Hamilton, Lutz, Smith, Cingrani, and Rogers. With a core of Vidal, B. Smith, Lutz, Barnhart, Rogers, Lotzkar, and Obispo joined by Selsky, D’Anna, Mattair, Bowe, and J. Smith promoted from A+; the Blue Wahoos should enjoy another good season next year.

High A
The Blaze are the Reds lone playoff team in the minors for the Reds this season. They qualified by winning the 1st half with outstanding performances by Hamilton, Lutz, Vidal, Barnhart, Cingrani, and Lotzkar. They then fell off sharply in the second half after promotions to AA of all of the aforementioned players. Selsky, Muller, Wright, Robles, Contreras, and Gerson will make up the core next season and may be joined by Silva, Waldrop, Rodriguez, Perez, Buckley, Quezada, and Allen from the Class A Dayton Dragons.

The Dragons had a long, rough season that ended with them in the cellar. They had several solid players in Silva, Waldrop, Perez, Quezada, Allen, and Contreras that will move on to A+ Bakersfield next season. The Dragon’s fans should be excited though, because there are some good looking players in Billings this season, Winker, Mejias-Brean, Sanchez, Stephenson, and Guillon, that will be coming to help retool Dayton next year for what should result in a much better record.

Rookie – Pioneer League
Billings had a very good season, finishing with the best overall record in the Pioneer League North, but did not make the playoffs by finishing 2nd in both the 1st and 2nd half. They were led by Winker, Mejias-Brean, Sanchez, Dailey, Stephenson, and Guillon. They’ll retool next season with newly drafted college players and possibly some of Matthews, Paula, Rachal, Peterson, Reynoso, Rahier, Washington, Travieso, and Moran who may be promoted from the AZL.

The AZL Reds pretty much live in the cellar of the AZL this season. They had some solid performances by the likes of Matthews, Paula, Rachal, Peterson, Reynoso, Travieso, and Moran. They will hope to restock for next season with newly drafted players and others brought in from the Dominican Summer League teams.
