Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Cincinnati 9
Houston 3
W: M. Leake (7-8)
L: F. Abad (0-2)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Good outing by Mike Leake: six innings, two runs allowed on seven hits. Leake struck out seven. I’ll take that out of my fifth starter every single time.
–Brandon Phillips had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Jay Bruce hit his 28th homer, a three-run shot in the fifth that put the game out of reach. Bruce also walked twice.
–Reds with two hits: Zack Cozart (including a double and a two-run homer, his 15th), Dioner Navarro (double, two runs scored), Chris Heisey (two runs scored, two runs batted in).
–Good relief work by Sam LeCure.
NEGATIVES
–None. This is turning into a magical season.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–The Reds just keep on rolling. That’s 81 wins, and the good guys are now 29 games over .500. Better yet, the Pirates are losing now, and the Cardinals already lost. That means the Reds could have a 9.5 game lead in the NL Central.
–Chris Heisey is hitting .284/.321/.426. That’s really not bad for, essentially, a 4th outfielder. Ryan Ludwick’s outstanding season has overshadowed the fact that Heisey has been okay. (Yes, the last couple of games have bumped Heisey’s numbers up considerably, but still…)
–I don’t see a change happening, but I’d like to know what Dusty Baker is thinking re: Heisey/Stubbs/CF.
–This still amazes me:
Four wins in a row for the Redlegs. The best part is that tonight’s win ensures the Reds will not have a losing season.

–Here’s why I always say that you guys need not sweat the small stuff, and just enjoy this magical season: this is just the second time in twelve seasons that the Reds haven’t had a losing record. Life is short. We need to enjoy success when we can get it.
–Almost:
I almost feel sorry for the Astronomicals. Almost.

–There isn’t a whole lot I can say right now. The Reds just keep winning, and this magical season just keeps on keepin’ on.
