Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Cincinnati 3
Chicago 0
W: J. Cueto (15-6)
L: B. Raley (0-2)
S: A. Chapman (28)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Another brilliant outing by Johnny Cueto: eight shutout innings, with only three hits allowed. Cueto is, quite simply, an ace in every sense of the term.
–Only one Red had two hits, and it was Todd Frazier, obviously. The kid is good.
–The offense, however, was provided by Jay Bruce, who had a two-run homer (his 22nd) and Ryan Ludwick, who hit a solo shot (his 21st). It’s good to see Bruce hit the ball hard again, and it’s good to see Ludwick continue to mash the baseball.
NEGATIVES
–None.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Three wins in a row, and the Reds will return to Cincinnati with no less than a 4.5 game lead in the NL Central. I’ll take that every time.
–In case you hadn’t noticed, Aroldis Chapman is good:
Last 9 pitches from Chapman: 101, 101, 101, 101, 100, 101, 101, 100, then an 89-mph slider for the K. Buckled Soriano’s knees.

–Cueto collected his career-high fifteenth win today. That ties him for the league lead. Cueto for Cy Young, anyone?
–Not much else to say here. The Cubs stink; the Reds won 3 of 4, as they should have. Tomorrow is a well-needed day off. Enjoy!
