Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Cincinnati 3
Milwaukee 6

W: Y. Gallardo (10-8)
L: B. Arroyo (7-7)
S: J. Axford (18)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Zack Cozart was 2-5 with his twelfth homer. Scott Rolen reached base four times: a single, a double, two walks.

–Sam LeCure pitched a solid inning and two-thirds.

–Xavier Paul got another pinch-hit; this one was a run-scoring single. The guy just keeps getting it done.

NEGATIVES
–Bronson Arroyo had a rough outing, giving up five runs on ten hits in 5.1 innings. Four of those runs came in the sixth, when the wheels simply fell off.

–The Reds cut the lead to two in the eighth, but Jose Arredondo promptly came out and gave up a run in the bottom half of the inning. Of course, a Dioner Navarro passed ball didn’t help matters, and the run probably wouldn’t have scored without it.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Not much to say here. The Reds lost their second game in a row. It happens.

–The Pirates and Cardinals both won. Today was a bad day, but the Reds still lead the Central by three and a half. The sky is not falling.

–Johnny Cueto takes the mound tomorrow. He’ll stop this modest “losing streak.”
