A couple of weeks ago, we looked at how the Reds composite top 20 prospect list was performing mid-season. That list was a compilation of top 20 pre-season lists provided by Baseball America, Baseball Prospectus, and MinorLeagueBall.com (John Sickels.)

Sickels, as he does every year, provided a review of his specific pre-season top 20 list on Tuesday. It’s worth a read on his take of the list he prepared prior to the start of the season.

The Reds system has done well for the most part this year, although they have to figure out some way to help these raw power guys make better contact. J.J. Hoover was on the Braves list pre-season and what he did in the majors isn’t a fluke in my view. The development of Cingrani was good to see too, Corcino has lived up to expectations, and Lotzkar has been a favorite of mine for awhile despite his control problems. I like Ryan Wright’s chances to be a surprise at higher levels.
