Bakersfield pitching didn’t give the team much of a chance in game 1 of the afternoon doubleheader. Justice French (0-2, 4.83 ERA) gave up 6 runs in 2.2 innings. He surrendered 9 hits and walked 2.

The offense was spread evenly as no player scored more than one run nor more than one RBI. All seven Blaze hits were spread among seven different batters.

Game 2: Bakersfield 4 – Stockton 1

Josh Smith (5-4, 3.75 ERA) pitched a complete game 4-hitter on the backend of the double header, which is seven innings in minor league double headers. Smith gave up just the 1 run, walked no one, and struck out 9 batters.

Billy Hamilton was 3-for-4, stole his 73rd base of the season, but was caught stealing twice. Jaren Matthews was 2-for-3, including a solo homerun. Redleg Nation Spotlight player, Tucker Barnhart was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Barnhart also threw out his 20th baserunner of the season in 50 attempts made on his arm.

Stalin Gerson (3-5, 4.65 ERA) gave up 6 runs in his 5-inning start. Gerson allowed 8 hits and a walk while striking out 8 batters.
