Minor League Player of the Day: Redleg Nation Spotlight Player, Sean Buckley, who went 3-5 with 2 doubles.

Louisville 8 -Syracuse 2

Nice start for Sean Gallagher, 6 IP 4 H 1 R 1 ER 1 BB 3 K. Jordan Smith gave them 2 scoreless innings of relief.

Joey Gathright broke his mini-slump, going 2-5 and drove in 2 runs. I expect to see him sooner or later with the Reds (sooner if they have to DL Stubbs). Willie Harris, Nefi Soto, and recently demoted Mike Costanzo all had 2 hits. Bill Rhinehart hit a homer.

Pensacola 5 – Birmingham 2

Andrew Means was 2-4. Yordanys Perez went 1-4 with a double and drove in 3 runs.

Tim Crabbe threw 5 innings of 2 run baseball (2 hits, 6 walks, 6 K) but got strong work from the Wahoo bullpen.

Clayton Tanner (1 inning), Curtis Partch (1.2), and Donnie Joseph (1.1, 13th save) kept Birmingham off the board for the final 4 innings.

High A

Bakersfield 3 – Visalia 1

With the win, Bakersfield runs to a season high 10 games over .500. Not a lot of offense for the Blaze, as they only collected 4 hits, but were helped by 5 stolen bases (2 by Hamilton, giving him 69 on the season, he also scored 2 of the 3 runs; 2 by Jared Matthews; and 1 by Devin Lohman, who also knocked in 2 of the 3 runs).

Stellar pitching by the Blaze staff again, as Josh Smith threw 6 inning of 5 hit 1 run baseball, walking 1 and striking out 2. The only run came on a homer in the 6th.

Daniel Wolford (.1), Chris Joyce (.2 got the win), Brooks Pinkard (1), and Brian Pearl (1, 11th save) kept Visalia off the board for the final 3 frames.

Low A

Dayton 4 – Lake County 3 (11 innings)

The Dragons came back from a 3-0 deficit, to win their 4th straight.

Redleg Nation Spotlight Player, Sean Buckley went 3-5 with 2 doubles. Sean’s recovering from a bad start and has an OPS of .984 in June and 1.006 in his last 10 games.

Kyle Waldrop was 2-5 with a double and scored the winning run. Nick O’Shea was 2-5 with a double, Steve Selsky was 2-5, and Kurtis Muller was 2-5 and drove in the game winner in the 11th.

The Dragons bullpen was outstanding, Cole Green threw 3 1 hit, shutout innings, followed by Carlos Contreras, who threw 2 shutout innings. James Allen got the win with a perfect 11th.
