Bakersfield 7 – San Jose 4 (12 innings)

Heck of a game in San Jose, as the Blaze moved to within 1 1/2 games of the first place Giants.

Billy Hamilton went 3-6 and scored 3 runs, stealing 2 bases (57), Theo Bowe went 2-4 with 2 BB (and stole his 11th base since being promoted), Bryson Smith went 2-4 with a double and drove in 2 runs, but the offensive hero of the game was newly promoted Danny Vicioso, who worked a 12 pitch AB in the 9th, driving a double and knocking in the tying run. Then in the 12th, he came through again with a 2 run single. On the night he was 2-6 with a double and 3 RBI.

Starter Daniel Renken was strong, going 7 innings, allowing one unearned run on 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 3. Brooks Pinckard got the win (2-1) with 2 scoreless innings of relief. James Walzcak got his 2nd save with a scoreless 12th.

Dayton 8 – South Bend 7

Dramatic win for the Dragons, as they score a walk off win with 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, their 4th straight at home.

Redleg Nation Spotlight Player, Sean Buckley, went 3-4 with a double and RBI, Kurtis Muller went 2-3 with a homer (taking over the team lead with 4 after just 10 games) and 2 walks. In his 10 games with the Dragons, he’s raised his average to .475. Junior Arias went 2-4 with an RBI, and Joe Terry went 2-4 with the game winning RBI. Everyone in the Dragons lineup got on base in the game, and all had a hit, other than catcher Jovan Gonzalez.

Michael Dennhardt got his first career win with 2.1 innings of hitless/scoreless relief.
