Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Washington 7
Cincinnati 3
W: G. Gonzalez (4-1)
L: M. Leake (0-5)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Jay Bruce continued his hot hitting with a 2-4 night, including a double, an RBI, and a run scored.
–Brandon Phillips had two hits.
–Sam LeCure, JJ Hoover, and Jose Arredondo were strong out of the pen. As Marty said on the radio tonight, the bullpen continues to deliver the goods this season.
NEGATIVES
–The Reds were never in this game, as Mike Leake’s struggles continued. Leake surrendered 6 runs on 7 hits and two walks in just three innings. A completely miserable performance.
–Scott Rolen was 0-4, striking out twice. On the season: .174/.238/.304. Something stinks.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Terrible. Just terrible.
–Mike Leake is now 0-5 with a 7.11 ERA, and he isn’t fooling anyone. I constantly preach patience, but is it time to make a change? Something has to give here.
–Tonight, of course, was the first Reds “Tweet-up” night of the year. Bill Lack represented the Nation at the ballyard, and a good time was had by all. Well, it could have been better, I guess. Leave it to our buddy Nick to sum it up:
It’s suppose to be a #RedsTweetUp, not a #RedsBeatUp

–Oh well, tomorrow is a new day.
