The Reds affiliates received some strong starting pitching performances in Games Played on 05/10/2012
Minor League Player of the Day: Chad Rogers tossed 8 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits and a walk while striking out 3 batters. He also picked off one of the few runners to reach base.
Chad Reineke (1-2, 3.96 ERA) gave up 2 runs, 6 hits, and 4 walks over six innings. Reineke struck out 6 batters.
Dioner Navarro went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Neftali Soto was 2-for-4 with the lone run scored.
Tim Crabbe (1-2, 5.13 ERA) got no decision in his start. Crabbe gave up 1 run, 2 hits, and 4 walks while striking out 7 batters over five innings.
Donnie Joseph (4-0, 5 SV, 0.50 ERA) was credited with the win in extra innings. Joseph pitched two perfect relief innings, striking out two batters in the process.
Didi Gregorius was 2-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored. Gregorius led off the 10th inning with a single and later scored the go-ahead run on a bases loaded walk. Ryan LaMarre went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. LaMarre stole his two bases in the game, making 9 successful swipes in 12 attempts on the season. Cody Puckett was also 2-for-4 with a double, walk, and two RBI.
UPDATE I also meant to mention that Henry Rodriguez was placed on the DL yesterday with a broken thumb. (Thanks to Jamie Ramsey for the news via twitter.) I’ve seen no word on a timetable for his return. Rodriguez is in the midst of a 15-game hitting streak.
Bakersfield 4 – Lancaster 0
Chad Rogers (2-2, 1.75 ERA) struck out three batters over 8 shutout innings, allowing just 4 hits and a walk. Three of those five runners were erased from the basepaths: one on a pickoff at first base, another was caught stealing second by Redleg Nation Spotlight player, Tucker Barnhart, and the third was doubled up on a 6-4-3 double play.
Barnhart has now thrown out 12 of 24 opponents trying to steal an extra base.
The Blaze’s #1-4 hitters (Billy Hamilton, Devin Lohman, Bryson Smith, and Donald Lutz) each had two hits and combined to go 8-for-16. Each player scored 1 run in the 4-run 6th inning. One of Hamilton’s hits was a triple, and he also stole his 33rd base. Hamilton also committed his 10th and 11th error at shortstop.
Tanner Robles (2-2, 2.72 ERA) gave up 2 runs, 4 hits, and 2 walks over six innings. Robles struck out 4 batters.
The Dragons collected just six hits, and no Dragon collected more than 1 hit.
