Box Score

POSITIVES
–Johnny Cueto. He now has an ERA of 1.12. Chew on that for a bit.

–Brandon Phillips had two hits today and stole a base. Seems like he’s finally coming around.

–Drew Stubbs also had two hits and a steal.

–Joey Votto had just one hit, but it was a big one. I always feel good when he’s at the plate.

–Aroldis Chapman can play on my team any time. He is simply out of this world. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like it.

— I’ll also give a nod to Logan Ondrusek and Dusty Baker. Logan can’t have been expecting that call and Dusty actually went with someone other than his closer. Apparently, he can adapt.

NEGATIVES
–Sean Marshall was downright bad today. I’m not worried about him in the long run, but that was ugly.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–I don’t know how Johnny Cueto does it. I mean, his numbers shouldn’t be this good, but he keeps doing it. I’m probably going to have to write a long post about this soon. I love his starts, though.

–Wow. That game just feels huge. I’m not a big believer in momentum, but that feels like the kind of thing that can set a team on a long winning streak. The Reds certainly need everything they can get, the schedule is about to get much tougher with games against the Nationals, Braves, and Yankees over the next few weeks.

–That was a harrowing day, but what a good day to a baseball fan and a Reds fan.
