From our friend, John Fay, at the Enquirer (can’t find online link):
– Interesting to note John say that Bill Bray is “on the active roster, but not ready to assume his role as the last inning situational lefty” (see yesterday’s game), but he also says, “RH Logan Ondrusek has been dealing with a bad back that kept him out of games the last few days of ST.” Ondrusek is quoted as saying, “I threw a bullpen (Thursday). It was better. I was available if needed.”
Comment: This might explain, somewhat, the Chapman to the BP (2 pitchers short) and the pickup of Alfredo Simon. Could Simon’s stay in Cincinnati be shortlived? Did Ondrusek’s pain in the back send Frazier to the minors?
-Reds are going to go with a 5 man rotation, right out of the box, with Homer being #4 and Leake being #5. Reds decided to use Leake and give Cueto an extra day off.
– Just saw this article on Cueto in the DDN, thought it had some interesting insights…
