Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Cincinnati 4
Miami 0
W: J. Cueto (1-0)
L: M. Buerhle (0-1)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–How about that Johnny Cueto? 7 innings, 4 Ks, 2 BBs, No Runs. He picked up right where he left off last year. I’ll take that every five days for the rest of the season how about you?
–The defense made several really nice plays today. Rolen especially redeemed himself after making an error on his first play of the game. The poor kid was probably nervous. He’ll get better as he gains experience.
–Aroldis Chapman threw one inning, but what an inning. 10 pitches, 2 strikeouts, and just nasty, nasty stuff. I can’t wait until he’s in the rotation.
— Sean Marshall. Yeah, he was pretty good, too.
— Every Reds hitter reached base tonight. Bruce’s long (441 ft.) homer was probably the offensive highlight of the night. Always good when everyone gets to chip in.
NEGATIVES
–None.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–This was fun. Can we do it again on Saturday?
–The Reds are on pace to win 162 games! Best record ever!
–I have noted my optimism about this team several times. It was nice to be vindicated for at least day. This does look like a very, very good baseball team. I think we’re in for a fun year.
–Brand new Red Mat Latos takes the mound on Saturday. The Reds has the potential to be really good on the mound. I am super excited for that start.
