It’s starting to sound like it’s a matter of time:

The Reds continue to talk with closer Francisco Cordero.

“The dialogue has been good,” said Cordero’s agent Bean Stringfellow. “Coco is interested in coming back and the Reds are interested in having him back. It’s a matter of working out a deal.”

The Reds clearly have the upper hand here.

As I’ve said before, I don’t object to CoCo’s return; it’s just a matter of how much they are going to commit to him. In that vein, I found this analysis by John Fay interesting:

The holdup with the Reds and Cordero could be that he’s going to have to swallow his pride a bit to take their offer. The club turned down his $12 million option. He turned down a two-year deal from the club. My guess that the offer now for one year is less than what he would have gotten per year under the two-year deal.
