Lansing 4 – Dayton 3

Lansing wins series 2-1

The Dragons, who were one out away from a sweep of the series on Friday, ended their record setting 2011 season with a 4-3 loss in Lansing on Saturday night.

Two errors (Duran/Vidal) and 2 walks contributed to the Lugnuts 2 runs in the bottom of the second and the Dragons could never even the game after that.

Kyle Lotzkar was ineffective in his start, throwing 5 innings, allowing all 4 runs (3 earned) while giving up 5 hits (one homer) and walking 5. He did strike out 6.
Daniel Wolford kept the Dragons in the game with 3 innings of scoreless, one hit relief, but the offense couldn’t make up the difference.

Down 4-2 after 6, the Dragons missed a golden opportunity in the 7th. They loaded the bases with none out, but Ronald Torreyes hit into a force at the plate and Tucker Barnhart followed and hit into a DP. The Dragons went quietly in the 8th and 9th.

Offensively, the Dragons were led by SS Billy Hamilton, who went 3-4 on the night and stole 2 bases. Tucker Barnhart went 2-4 with a double. Theo Bowe went 2-4 also.
