Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle….

FINAL
Cincinnati 3
Chicago (NL) 4

W: M. Garza (8-10)
L: D. Willis (0-5)
S: C. Marmol (32)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
–Yonder Alonso was 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. No other Red had more than one hit.

NEGATIVES
–Dontrelle Willis has forgotten how to throw strikes once again, after he displayed decent control in the minors. Today, he walked five, to go along with six hits in seven innings, allowing all four runs to score.

–Drew Stubbs made another baserunning error, forgetting the number of outs.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–Not much in this world that is less enjoyable than losing to the Cubs.

–Just my opinion, but I doubt very seriously if Dontrelle Willis has a future as a starter in the major leagues. I just don’t see his control holding up.

–Devin Mesoraco made his first start behind the plate. He didn’t get a hit, but he did block the plate very well on a play at the plate (after Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips made a terrific relay).
