Let’s recap today’s titanic struggle…

FINAL
San Diego 7
Cincinnati 3
W: W. LeBlanc (1-2)
L: D. Willis (0-3)
BOX SCORE

POSITIVES
-The Reds did not have a hit until the 4th inning when Jay Bruce finally broke through with a 3-run homer.  The homerun gives Bruce 5 for the week (assuming you count today’s game as last week).  Regardless of how you view when today’s game was played, Jay Bruce has been hitting the ball well of late.

NEGATIVES
The Reds had a chance to sweep the Padres, but were never in the game. Dontrelle Willis gave up 4 runs in the 3rd inning and other than the Bruce homerun, the Reds never got back into it.

-After Sam LeCure’s 2.1 scoreless innings, the Reds pen did little to keep the club in the game.  Arredondo, Masset, and Chapman each gave up a run in relief.

-I mentioned Jay Bruce hit a homerun, but he also struck out 3 times.

NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
As has been the case with me lately, I did not watch the game.  So whatever other positives and negatives you guys saw today, discuss them in the comments below.

-On the bright side of things, between the frequent rain showers and thunderstorms, I did get my yard mowed today.  I was also able to get the grocery shopping done.  It is a sad day when I do those two chores over watching the Reds play.

-The Reds travel to Washington to take on Jonny Gomes and the Nats on Tuesday.
