Let’s recap tonight’s titanic struggle….
FINAL
Colorado 2
Cincinnati 3
W: M. Leake (10-7)
L: K. Millwood (0-1)
S: F. Cordero (21)
BOX SCORE
POSITIVES
–Outstanding performance by Mike Leake tonight: 7.1 innings, 2 runs allowed on 11 hits (nine singles), five strikeouts and one walk. Leake picked up his tenth win and dropped his ERA to 3.84. Sure, he was helped by three or four double plays, but I’ll take it.
–Jay Bruce went 2-3 with his 23rd homer. Edgar Renteria had two hits, including a homer. Joey Votto’s only hit was a big one: a solo homer in the sixth inning to give the Reds the winning margin.
NEGATIVES
–I guess the only negative is that the Rockies grabbed a pitcher off the scrap heap (Kevin Millwood), and he largely made the Reds offense look kinda bad.
NOT-SO-RANDOM THOUGHTS
–You guys said the Reds were going to lose every game the rest of the season. You were wrong!
–Boy, Mike Leake’s demotion to the minors seems like a different lifetime ago.
–A win’s a win!
